We have a lot of fun painting, but aren't the best at it, so don't feel like you need to be Picasso to come here! We reserved a spot online and paid $50 each. The moment you walk in someone greets you and points you in the direction of your assigned seating. You are provided with everything you will need to complete the painting. You are given a step by step guide by one of the artists. They give you ample amount of time to complete each step, and are super supportive and enthusiastic about giving advice so you can create your own masterpiece. We arrived at 7pm and finished around 10pm. The top of your easel has a QR code where you can order food & drinks at any time during the event. We got an order of spicy mozzarella sticks (which were amazing.) curly fries, and two pitchers of a wine based cocktail. Everything tasted great and rang up to about $75, but it has a hipster vibe and we were expecting to spend about that. Daniela was an amazing guide, and her playlist was pretty great too! It was a great setup inside here. And a nice atmosphere too. Everything was well organized in advance, so everyone knew where to sit, and all supplies were at everyone's station. This was so much fun! And I want with VERY low expectations. I have never painted anything in my life except maybe my bedroom walls. When my friend invited me, I said, "Sure," because they had wine there and cheese fries and so I was more focused on that then actually producing a quality painting. The night we went to was a Paint Your Own Pet. I picked a scary Halloween pic of my cat to paint. You send the picture in ahead of time and they print it and tape it to the back of your canvas. The instructors give you step-by-step instructions on how to mix colors, draw the outline, and fill in the details. We used a light table to trace some of it and the rest we looked at the reference picture. Walking around the room, everyone's paintings looked fantastic. While I'm not about to start a career in painting, it was fun to have a night out with my friend and come home with a decent piece of art. *The rosemary cheese fries and sangria were also delicious.* read more

So much fun in an awesome environment. I was amazed that I was able to make such a decent painting. The instructor was awesome (I forget his name!) and did a great job explaining how to create the picture. There is a bar with beer and wine and a small food menu if you want to snack on something. Honestly, I was too concentrated on my painting to have any time to eat, but having a couple beer was a nice touch! My husband and I were concerned all day that they would cancel due to weather (lots of snow in Providence Jan. 7th, 2017!) Luckily, they didn't cancel despite there only being about 10 people there. We were so relieved after walking 2 miles in the snow. It was so much fun but it was also extremely relaxing. A couple drinks, music, painting. They really have it all figured out. It was very laid back because there were so few people. I can see how it may get a little tight when a class is full but honestly I wouldn't mind the crowd because it'd be more upbeat with more people. I am so excited to keep coming back. First time here and I enjoyed it, seems like everyone else did as well. My fiancé and I had no idea what we were getting into but we wanted to try something new, and we did. The location is easy to miss it's not a bright building or anything It blends in with the rest we passed it twice, just keep an eye out. Also be prepared to park on the street and pay the meters ( a downfall of being in this location ). We went on a Saturday so there wasn't any parking , so we had to park on the street and all the way down. Once we enter the place it was a little confusion because you have NO idea where to go or who to speak with so I just walked to the bar spoke with the employee and went to our table. While inside I notice all ages , children , young adults , adults , and older adults. Everyone seemed so excited. The idea of painting even for a newbie is very skeptical I didn't know how I would enjoy it but I did and so did my fiancé. They have one instructor up there showing around 30 people how to paint it's a little difficult for everyone to see what he was doing which frustrated me a little bit. He was very sweet and came around to help but I think there should be 2 instructors one helping the left side and 1 helping the right. Some of the older adults were drinking and became obnoxious so hearing the instructor became a problem. They also played music at the painting place and some of it was too grown for the children. Overall I would recommend this place just the few downfalls I mentioned but it's worth the money. Just expect there to be tons of people , or it be crowded and a little difficult to learn , but it is fun and funny to see how much people can't paint. read more

All literally stuff I could've bought at a dollar store and gotten better quality. Canvases are cheap, flimsy panels. I would not recommend anyone supporting this business and buying these. The first time I came here was Sep 2019. Had a great experience, so I finally got to come back in May 2021 with a group of friends. I actually liked this experience better than the first time because of one main thing: it wasn't crowded! The first time I went, the room was PACKED with artists, workers, people in my class, people in the class next door, and every table was filled with canvasses. Not ideal for eating/drinking or for talking with friends, really. This time, the number of attendees was limited in order to maintain safe distances (coronavirus) and it was so much nicer. We were spread out, I could walk around without bumping into someone, we could hear each other, and I had a place to put my belongings & food/drinks without worrying about getting paint over everything. I hope they continue to cap the number of people allowed. The main artist [K Lou, instagram is @k_lou_lovelight] was pretty awesome. She was upbeat, friendly, and very encouraging. I loved the painting she had us make, and everyone just had a really good time. I'm hoping to come back at least once more before the end of the year read more

Love this place! Went here with some friends from work and it was nothing but a good time. Let me just say you're certainly not here for the kind of alcohol they serve. The red and white wine of the night wasn't very good. In fact, it was equivalent to a cheap brand like Sutter Home or something of the like. Even the beer selection was basic: Traveler and UFO. What makes this place awesome is its cute and cozy ambiance. It's a small space, but very inviting. Not to mention super charming! Somehow, 5 groups of 5 - 6 fit in this tiny area. It felt like that huge get-together your friend has over at their one bedroom apartment. This, along with the art studio set-up, was cool and creative. The instructor made things simple and was easy to follow. Music filled in the gaps between instructions, and our group had a blast laughing / admiring each other's canvases. Only down side was the somewhat pricey $29 to be here, but that did include a free drink. Anything thereafter was $8 - $9, nothing out of the ordinary in terms of price. Parking was a problem, as the lot across the street was full. But overall, I strongly recommend coming here, especially with a group! Great way to bond and connect. read more

Neither my wife or I have any natural painting talent but we both left with paintings that actually resemble our cats. You walk in to an outlined canvas waiting for you and the Paint Bar artists walk you through the steps to bring your pet's picture to life through paint. The artists were super helpful and gave great insights on how to work the brushes and paints. They ensure you leave with just the right finishing touches to and that you're happy with your art. I am no artist, that was proven! But I had a great time and got some great tips from the house artists. I came for a "Paint Your Pet" event and was excited to learn that you could upload the picture of your pet online so that the artists could sketch an outline of the photo before the event starts! Thank goodness for this and the step by step direction of the artists throughout the evening. Props to the gentleman who was also playing Artist / Chef / Bartender! I did have some beers (Corona) but did not have a chance to try any food since I was too busy painting and laughing with my group! The bathroom was very clean and I love all of the different paintings that are in there and the rest of the space! This was a relaxing night with great background music and plenty of assistance whenever you needed it. I can not wait to try this again and paint my other pup! read more

After I booked an evening here for my lovely lady and I, I found out she had done something similar for a work event. We still decided to go and check it out which turned out to be a wonderful. As I sat there and watched her sitting in her cold should shirt trying to figure out how to paint better than me, I noticed how much fun I always have with my gorgeous woman. I am always in my most relaxed state when she is by my side. No matter where we go, she always puts a smile on face, except for when she doesn't. We had chips and salsa and several glasses of wine creating at least one masterpiece out of two. Ill let you guys guess who's painting was obviously better, MINE. Thank you Muse Paintbar, we had a wonderful time painting a canvas for the ages, my artwork that ascends the boundaries of language and time, a magnum opus that will be held in the highest of esteem, on our bathroom wall for years to come. Clean space and not overbooked on a late Saturday evening. The instructor was fun, lighthearted, and his accent may have been a little thick at times. Our group was a rowdy bachelorette party, but he was a good sport :) The wine was more expensive than it is worth (but a necessity!). On average, a glass of wine was about $8 each for a cup slightly larger than the ones you get at the dentist to swish your mouth with! The beer was fairly priced at $4.75 each. Class prices were reasonable and easy to book for large groups or individually. The crowd here was mostly early 20's probably due to the proximity to all the colleges around Providence. This muse had more space to maneauver than the one I have tried in Glasonbury, CT and I think the quality of instruction as well as microphone/speaker quality was better too. My only real complaint, and the reason for 4 stars, is that the music playlist was not very good. We took turns requesting upbeat/contemporary songs more than once over a 30 minute period after giving up. Some songs, maybe 3 or so, even came on twice. Needs work in this department. read more

This one just opened in providence & riding the trend of the group painting activity At first the Type A personality in me was a little stressed out that mine didn't look exactly like the instructors... But then I realized... Who cares? I'm drinking & I'm so focused on making a straight (or swirly, in this case) line that my worries about my job or my bills or any of the other stuff I had to do... Just all went away. More relaxing than yoga that's for sure (for me anyways). And the best part? Not only do they give you step by step instruction, you take home your painting, AND they clean up for you! Perfect for the no-hassle artist within you. They've got a wine & beer bar & menu (which I didn't look into). The groupon made it totally affordable (please keep that going!) And bonus! It's right next to Harry's Burger bar, XO cafe, Mills Tavern. So food of all $$ levels is there if you wanna grab dinner before the activity. Also perfect if you are looking for a date activity that is a little less intense one-on-one time (perfect for first dates)! Takes a little pre-planning though. Came in for my first paint bar experience ever on a Tuesday evening. They have a public paint room and then a side paint room for private events. The public room holds a good 30 people and the private event holds 22 or so. Each spot has its own easel with paint and paint brushes. The bar is in the public room and has wine (by glass or bottle) and beer, as well as some snacks. I came in for a fundraiser that was in the side room. It was full, but we had an extra and one of the ladies in front was very accommodating and helped set up a spot on the whim. The picture we were painting seemed a little (or a lot) advanced to me, since I haven't painted a picture in probably 20 years or so. But, with the help of the instructor, and a little acceptance coming in that I wasn't going to be creating the next Mona Lisa, I was pleasantly surprised. The instructor showed us some step by steps and some techniques with certain brushes. She also helped the time go by with some good music. Only recommendation would be in regards to the wine. For $9 a glass, I would expect some better wine options. Even better would be a BYOB option. Otherwise, a fun night out! read more

I have been to some other locations of Muse and they are actually usually a pretty good experience. Our instructor was a tall guy with blue eyes and he was trash. He delivered awful instructions and most members of the class weren't able to follow anything. He never came up to me or anyone at my table once to offer any help. Towards the end my friend made a little mistake and he came over and started laughing at it... he then proceeded to call over another employee to come and made fun of elements of their painting. After this he walked away and continued laughing. What this absolute baffoon didn't know is that my friend recently lost a really close friend and mentor this week and I was bringing her here to help her feel better and get her mind off of things. Instead this unprofessional and disrespectful employee destroyed her mood and night out. I was so shocked because I've always had the utmost and professional experiences with Muse, but this employee clearly does not make the mark. read more

Ok, so I've been to Muse a couple of times and have LOVED it. The instructors are great, the environment is spry and everyone is friendly. However, I really wanted to paint the Starry Skies and got Fernando as our instructor. Unfortunately, I was very displeased with him as our instructor for the evening. -He referred to Magenta as "red" several times, causing everyone in the other room to mix the wrong colors together. -Made a mistake and erased with paper towel. The he couldn't figure out how to do it correctly -The pace was either too slow or too fast. It was very difficult to follow his instructions -He kept leaving and didn't really go around and provide feedback -He faced the painting while he was giving instructions, making it difficult to hear him. That being said, I usually have a great experience at Muse and the chocolate brownie was delicious. read more

Great experience here at Muse working with the staff to plan a fundraiser. It was great to be able to have the studio all to ourselves one Saturday afternoon! Instructor was phenomenal and very helpful for all who were participating. Space was lovely- we needed to bring in our own food since it was a private event, but we were able to purchase drinks just fine. (Side note: I've been before for a public event and the snacks offered were yummy! Nothing too over the top, but perfect for snacking while painting). Looking forward to coming back again soon! Wow what a fun afternoon! Seven of us coworkers descended on Muse Providence and had a BLAST! The instructors are always in a great mood, laughing, joking around, and encouraging everyone. The music is fun and snacks are also good. I regularly go and always get great instruction and learn something new every time.
