I thought this was pretty amazing. If you're 29 and younger you get in for 6 euros instead of 11. The museum includes Picasso's striking Las Meninas (1957) series. It's in Barri Gotic so you'll be surrounded by plenty of cute little bar and cafes. read more

Good days activity. We visited the Picasso Dali exhibit. Nice but these dudes had some weird stuff :-)

My spouse and I both loved this museum, recognizing that it focuses on his early years -- when he was here. Well worth a visit. We caught a temporary exhibit comparing Picasso's work to Dali's, with piece-by-piece comparisons. It was fascinating and worth going out of your way to see while it is here. This museum is hard to find. We had to ask directions about three times, although we were within 500 feet or less each time. read more

This is a must-see attraction of Barcelona if not simply for the art work, but also for the design of the museum itself. The museum takes you on a guided journey round the chronological artworks of Picasso's life, and explains each period or his artistic career. I was surprised to learn about and see the astounding realist pieces of his early career. The layout of the building is interesting as it is laid out like a maze and guides you in criss-crossing patterns round the art of Picasso's life. There are also some pieces by other artists in rooms adjoining the main museum. There is a gift shop as you would expect, and the entrance price is reasonable and concessioned for students, children and OAPS. As someone who is not exactly an art devotee I genuinely found this place very enojyable and interesting. We stayed at least 2 hours. read more

Picasso was probably an arrogant jerk and a misogynist, but there's no questioning that he was also a prodigy and genius. I've been to this museum many times, and I love its location folded into the labyrinthine medieval streets of Barrio Gotico. Picasso's later cubist period as well as his earlier blue and rose periods are well marketed - but the gems of this museum, dedicated entirely to Picasso, are his very early sketches and paintings that display astounding sophistication and transcendent perceptiveness at a very young age. read more

Beautiful museum full of history and art of the great Pablo Picasso. Worth every cent to see the evolution of his artistry from a young boy through his later years in life. The layout was slightly confusing and my girlfriend and I did get lost and went to a few rooms out of order. read more

As someone who thought they weren't particularly interested in Picasso, I was surprised how much I enjoyed this exhibition. Picasso's early work is fascinating and really shows just what a great artist he was and how he served his time painting portraits and learning his art before finding his own distinctive style. The exhibition is well set out and the building itself is interesting. It is not open on Mondays though - which caught us out. read more

Although Picasso is associated with Paris, he had strong connections to Barcelona, especially in his formative years, which this museum highlights. The museum is in an absolutely beautiful building in the old town and has about 4000 paintings of the artist in its collection. If you want to see how Picasso evolved from an academic painter trained by his father to a confident cubist, there is probably no other place like this museum. There are sixteen galleries, a souvenir shop, and space for temporary exhibitions. Tickets are rather expensive, especially with an audio guide. read more

As an art historian and fanatic of Picassos's work. I enjoyed the museum. It has his less known and popular pieces. This is the only museum that was design while Picasso was still alive. We did not buy tickets in advance. . I was worried that the line to buy tickets was going to be long, but it was quiet fast. I recommend buying tickets online. The entire experience is very sterile. From check in and payment to exit. Enjoy Picasso but would definitely not go back.

Picture palace A must-visit for art afficionados and those with just a passing interest alike, the museum is a truly lovely airy space, set in some palaces on the gorgeous Carrer Montcada is full of Picasso treasures and goes some way to explaining the laborious process he used to create some of his greatest paintings. read more

as someone who openly admits they don't really care for art (don't hate), I actually enjoyed my visit here. my museum style is "in and out in 30 minutes" (if a larger museum, maybe we'll say an hour), and this was no exception. I came, I saw, I left. yeah, it's a bit pricey I suppose, but as the kids are saying these days, "yolo". tip: admission is free after 3p on Sundays. I arrived at the museum at about 2:30p and the line for free admission was already starting to form/about 20 people deep; I decided to just pay and go in right away, as my time in Barcelona was limited, and I'm glad I did. By the time I got out around 3:15p, the line seemed endless (and given that the museum itself isn't exactly cavernous, I imagine being in there with 74646473838 other people would not be pleasant). enjoy! read more

Great museum! Bought tickets online to avoid the lines, but if you plan to go to several art museums in the off season, get the Articket BCN and save. The audiovisual tour is worth it and gives an appreciation of the people and environmental factors that influenced his art. From an early age of 14 yo, it is clear what a genius Picasso was and you learn that his father kept all his artwork believing that he would be famous. The highlight of the tour is Picasso's 40 variations from Velazquez's masterpiece Las Meninas. His sculpture, the She-Goat, is very good as are his other sculptures which look different depending on which angle you look at them. The gigantic photos of him are playful photo ops. The museum though should display every painting that is mentioned on the audiovisual tour. For recording number 4, which talks about the painting of his mother, that painting was not on display?! For some people, this may be their only chance to come here, so they should have displayed it. read more

the line was really long and we don't usually pay to go into museums but this place is a must see, i didnt realise until we go there that it would be free too so that was a bonus! its amazing seeing all the pieces and had a great time. read more

Wonderful museum with so many sides of an amazing artist. From his early work as a teenager to his blue period to his exploration with the Velazquez painting "las meninas". Great classic building as well it's all presented in, when in BCN a must see. read more

It's ok museum. Very small, art works only from his beginning career and some from 1957-1960. Missing most famous pictures that make this artist so popular. Only 16 small halls. I don't understand why it became Barcelona "must see" attraction. Actually shop at the museum is more educational than collection itself. Have been to many museums, including Prado in Madrid, Metropolitan in New York, MOMA etc. - this one I would say save for rainy day when there is no much options left. Having limited time I regret going to this museum instead of "The Catalan Art Museum". read more

Expectations truly unmet. Permanent collection disorganized. Staff chatted among themselves, congregated in hallways, appeared that they had nothing to do but wait for you to steal something. Poor layout. Poor thematic progressions. Not the best collection of Picasso's work. Spend your time at the Miro, instead. read more

The museum consists of artwork from Picasso through his life. It's a good museum if you're interested in Picasso. However, the employees are terrible! After waiting in the utterly long line I presented my student ID to enter earlier today and the person working the tickets did not accept my very clearly valid student ID (which was accepted at every other museum in Barcelona) so that I can enter for free. FYI the only reason I didnt buy my ticket online is because they do not offer the student price so I had to wait in line. I had to pay the under 25 years old fee, and for what? The ticket person insisted I was not a college student, even going as far as saying "I don't know what subjects you are studying." Seriously!? In additon, all the other people had terrible attitudes. After I purchased my ticket and before I could enter the museum the women ran up to me from behind, just as I was about to entet, and told me to take off my back pack, and that I cannot enter with it, without offering me a place to put the backpack, she simply said I cannot enter. What!? I said in additon to being hustled into buying a ticket I still cannt enter this museum?! Seriously?! It was not welcoming at all! I felt like I was not wanted there at all. This was the worst museum experience I have ever had and it totally off put my entire time in the museum enjoying the artwork. They need to hire new, more hospitable people because I will NOT be back! BEWARE! read more

I loved this extensive collection of one of the best artists in recent history. If you appreciate art at all, visit the Picasso Museum while in Barcelona. You will love it. The audio guide is a huge help since many of the rooms and individual art pieces are numbered and described in detail. Enjoyed it. read more

The collection is fair, I will give them that. However, their knowledge of Geography is a bit embarrassing. Apparently ALL Americans are from the same place and all students are from the same school. If you're from a student from Seattle, or Michigan, you must be traveling with a group from Boston (because they are so close to each other). They don't like groups and clearly do not want students to learn to appreciate art. When we arrived there were many Americans trying to access the museum. And we were told, after they wouldn't let us in, that we all must be together. We watched them corral a bunch of hs students, like animals into a room saying that because they had Massachusetts passports, that they were lying to them and ALL must be together. First, Massachusetts is a pretty big place (bigger than the whole of Calaluna). On the plane there were students from THREE different high schools (one was an hour away from Boston, another 40 min, but we ALL must be together). They got in students faces. One woman invaded my personal space and said I was lying to her, even though I wasn't even speaking English when I entered. She accused me of being with a group of students (who she thought were from one place but were actually from another). Point being, we were told they COUNT how many Americans come in during one hour and if it seems like you are in a group, or there are too many, they won't let you in! I'm embarrassed for the museum and the way they train their workers. For many of the kids on the trip, this is their view of Barcelona. It isn't pleasant. read more
