I prefer the Coldplayum of Pizza. But that doesn't exist, so. It's not really a great museum and more like a life-sized model of what it would be like to walk around on a pizza slice or something. I mean they made a good effort and it's quite an original idea but at the same time I can see why people want their money back, rate it badly and such, and it's not exactly cheap. 3 stars only for originality but they should do a lot more - like having pizza samples! read more

Ehh... Initially me and some friends were super excited to come because we love pizza. We happened to walk past on our way to dinner at Westlight. First of all $35 bucks is way too much to spend for this place. Even $30 is too much. We happened to snag a $5 off our ticket . You could also get a group on for $31 bucks. I think $20 would have been a better price. This museum of pizza is located at the bottom of the William Vale Hotel - at the corner. It is open until November 18th 2018 only So this is not a big " museum" . You can be there 30-60 mins tops. There are like 8 ish rooms.... most of them are ehhhh... there is " art" as in paintings , sculptures etc - some of it boring and uneventful... especially for the price Some of it is cool... loved looking at all the different pizza boxes from different pizzerias... loved the pizza guitar and the painting of the nude girl eating pizza on the bed. Loved the glow in the dark room... good photo op. We also loved the photo booth in the back of the DiGiorno room. I liked the last supper and Adam and Eve banners also You can get some popcorn to watch 3 short films And you get a slice of pizza at the end . It was hot and good to me . Water was offered . Surprisingly no bathrooms inside- you would have to go to the William Vale lobby to use the bathroom It would have been way more disappointing if this was the only thing we did ... thank god we made a day of it and also went to Brooklyn Bowl. read more

The short: fun, Instagram-able pop up exhibition - for $35 it's cool to see-- but very short, not super interactive & not sure I would recommend friends/family to go out of their way to check it out. The longer: I love a good pop-up exhibition. I've enjoyed Color Factory, the Rolling Stones exhibition, and a few other good ones across NYC. I was excited to check out the Museum of Pizza - and was expecting a bunch of different artist exhibitions, pizza-themed snacks and activities, etc. The museum was cool and the staff are all SUPER nice and ready to take pictures for you whenever you need. And, the exhibitions weren't that interesting/innovative/fun. We went when it wasn't super crowded, which was great - because not sure how many folks you can fit in the space. There were no snacks, minimal activities, and the tour ends with Williamsburg Pizza, which was cold. It was a fun way to spend a Thursday, and we checked out Westlight after the exhibition. We were in-and-out in less than an hour. read more

3.5 rounded up to a 4 My sister and I enjoyed ourselves! We felt it was better than Wonder World. There are pros and cons to this pop up. This one was more so exhibits of visions of artists' and their pizza world. But not enough on the interactive perspective where customers aren't afraid to go balls out fun on the exhibits. Not sure what people's expectations/ or definitions of a pop up museum are, but they're definitely not going to be a conventional museum, people. Most of the time they're not even remotely informative. They're fun "interactive " events in random places that are for a temporary period of time. Most of all yes, they are for those who have a primary interest for posting their pics in typically unique and fun photo opportunistic fashion. That being said.. don't go if you're the type that doesn't like taking pictures or are not interested in contemporary art. Because this is the basic premise of the MoPi or that's the vibe I got. The intent is to enhance opportunities for you to have "fun." I can see some of the perspectives of the other reviews in that a lot of the exhibits were more "art" that you look at versus the physicality that the museum of ice cream embodies. A lot of the exhibits at the MOPi you really have to be delicate with and hence why majority of the exhibits you couldn't really lean or sit on. So it probably wasn't as enjoyable in comparison to some. I myself was curious how they were going to bring these themes to fruition. Pizza beach was not what I expected. I totally didn't imagine pizza beach to be paper mache world. The material itself does not allow people to freely pose or play or interact with the exhibits to the level they would hope. Your inner child is restrained. The DiGiorno portion. I admit.. I was thinking also, why is this here? It seems out of place for an unconventional take on pizza, using a big corporation. However, I did think it was pretty cool how the pizza shows up realistically in the background and the see-saw was pretty fun, but you're on it 30 seconds or less because of the line. I think they could do without the corn hole. That was out of place. The tube.. I'm not even sure what it was for. We just climbed into it. Haha Pizza cave- interesting vision. I was curious as to what type of medium they were going to use to create this. After looking at my pics, I honestly was laughing so hard because the mozzarella looks like nut sacks to me. My suggestion to enhance the cave would have been to maybe make the floor look like sauce or throw some pepperoni stepping stones on the floor to make it more unified. Because the bare concrete floor took away from being truly immersive. Overall, I personally enjoyed it. If you can get discounted tickets. I would go that route. I'm thinking people that have wrote negative reviews are because : they were expecting to learn something, they wanted to be able to have fun with the exhibits without being restricted Yes, some of the exhibits weren't aesthetically pleasing. This pop up felt like it was more a contemporary museum than a go play and have fun interactive museum. People expected great tasting pizza If you want an interactive pop up, you have to build things out of sturdy material that are built to take a beating or at least high traffic. Don't display artwork. I think that's where the magic wore off when the two were converged. Keep the theme tight. Does the flow of the pop up make sense? Maybe hit upon the commonalities of people's visions of their love for pizza. read more

Pizza lover so you know i enjoyed this exhibit There was no long line outside the very first day they opened which i was highly grateful for. Just shows they were very organized. My favorite part was the DiGiorgio swing that my friend and i took an awesome boomerang one. It was totally worth the $35.00. We also got unlimited FREE PIZZA that's taste so good .i won't give all the goodies to each room in this museum but it's a great experience Go before they are gone ! read more

I brought my mom to the museum when she was visiting me from Wisconsin--we had a blast! The exhibits are childlike, fun, and varied in style. We were smiling the whole time. We came away with so many cute photos, there are plenty of exhibits for different photo ops, celebrating America's greatest food. The exhibits are handmade which was very impressive to me. The staff is lively and interactive, answering all our questions about the exhibit. Definitely watch all three videos at the end, and be sure to hit up the free pizza in the pizzeria! As someone hailing from the midwest, I was cracking up that they had Hidden Valley Ranch on every table--dipping my pizza in ranch was one of those lifelong tips I learned from my college friends. ;) read more

Eh, everyone else is right; it's not worth it. Here's a big issue for me: I think the advertising is waaaaay off. The promo shots are sexy and delicious rather than artistic. I wish there had been a toppings section where you got to try weird toppings or a sauce section or SOMETHING. I'm all for art, but I feel as though the price tag doesn't match what you actually get. A few sad looking art displays that were falling apart. (Apart from the lipstick and giant pizza, those displays were awesome.) It is a very small museum and it was just lack-luster. Also, one slice of cold Williamsburg pizza? Yeah I think I'll pass.. OH AND NO HOT PEPPER FLAKES!?!? And you call yourselves pizza lovers. read more

I'm failing to understand how anyone is giving this overhyped, overpriced exhibit more than 1 star. I bought tickets because they were 50% off on National Pizza Day and I still think I severely overpaid. For $40 per person, you should get more than some hastily put together rooms and a tasteless, rock hard slice of pizza at the end. You start off in a "pizza art gallery," which is more like a pizza themed kindergarten art fair with some scandalous photography. Then you move into a black lit room full of pizza boxes and some neon tape on the walls. The next room is a "cheese cave." Basically it's a poorly lit room with some cloth hanging from the ceiling. You're then taken to a room that is essentially 2 stickers on the wall advertising Digiorno frozen pizza. The pizza beach room looked like something a third grade art class slapped together during paper mache week. A pizza compact and lipstick stand in another room where you are told you cannot touch, sit, or stand on the pieces. You can just take pictures and observe from afar. Pizza heaven was some pizza roll ornaments in a box you shove your head into. This was sorely disappointing and a huge waste of time. The lighting is abysmal for anyone that is coming specifically for quality Instagram pictures. Take your $40 to literally any another pop-up that actually put thought and creativity into their rooms. read more

Pricey $35 and not a lot of exhibits. It's all for the gram but they aren't even that pretty for social media. There's this black light pizza box display with glow in the dark tape writing pizza puns, then a room filled with mozzarella that looks gross actually, lit with yellow light, then a bunch of pizza videos... And that's about it. You get a slice of pizza at the end but it's not good at all. It's Williamsburg pizza supposedly but I've never had. This slice was the one of the worst slices in NYC. read more

This museum was 35$ a person and completely overpriced. It's cute, but is it a museum? Definitely not. Think of it more as a room to room photo booth for the gram (insta). None of the exhibits are informative or well put together. Best part? A digornio seesaw. (Digornio is frozen pizza btw... not sure how it made it to a museum.) Pros: people who work there are really nice. It's colorful and nicely done. That's about it. Cons: it's way too short for the price. Literally done in 25 min. It wasn't interactive or really informative. And the saddest and worst part is they give you free pizza at the end (which is nice and all) but if your going to be the museum of pizza, AT LEAST, have good pizza!!! This pizza was the worst I've ever had (and I've had my fair share of shit pizza on a drunken night) but those $1 slices have been way better. So for what ever reason this if overly hyped on Instagram. Most of it is an actual museum. But it was advertised as that. It was advertised as Instagram worthy place to take really cool photos. The phots advertised were of people on the "art work" but when going we couldn't touch it at all. I would have looked past it had it been more interactive, we could only do max of 4 things. Such a waste of money. I've decided that after the Museum of Ice Cream exploded, NY has developed money making incentives to create museums of everything. I spent $35 on each ticket (bought 2) and my husband and I hated it. There were maybe 10 pieces of "modern" art (which honestly looked like someone threw some paint on some pictures quickly) and at the end you get popcorn and terribly bad pizza. This place is highly, highly dissapointing. There are different pizza boxes from around the world which is interesting but otherwise this place is a complete waste of time. The installations are cheap and there so nothing to do except take a few pictures with some pizza shaped items. And whole some of the staff are nice, some were incompetent, rude, and eve dismissive to me. That's just unacceptable. The free pizza was subpar too. My wife and I completely wasted $70 coming here. For those thinking of going, save your money and just get a pie from one of the great pizza places in NYC. It's cheaper and you'll be a heck of a lot more satisfied when you're done. read more

Completely overpriced for what you get. I feel bad saying it, because it was a fairly cool place, and everyone that works there was amazing, but I really think it was a waste of money. It's so small, and most of what you can see and do is "observe + photograph only." They say "play" a lot there, but most of the exhibits and rooms aren't exactly interactive. This was quite a disappointment ESPECIALLY for the price. I have done the Museum of Ice Cream and Candytopia that are quite similar but far better than this hastily put together "museum". The pizza beach looked terrible and most of the exhibits looked like they had been made by children in an art class.
