We have been taking private lessons from Lucas over the summer hoping to prepare my daughter for her advanced band class in Bassoon. Previously, she had only had experience with Baritone and was unfamiliar with reed instruments. Finding a knowledgeable instructor was a challenge. Thankfully, she found a fantastic instructor. Her instructor, Lucas, has been patient and supportive with her. He has been focusing on the important skills and note techniques that will be needed. Most importantly, my daughter loves going to class and plans to continue to developing her skills with private lessons along with what is provided in the classroom. Lucas is formally trained and has a degree in music. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a top notch music instructor who has experience with a multitude of instruments and has a fun positive attitude. I found Music & Arts after looking at several places for my two young children to take drums, piano, voice. So far, I am very impressed with how professional they are and how much my kids have enjoyed their lessons. The instructors are very patient and kind. This place is clean and pricing is reasonable. Some other places I was looking at had a much darker atmosphere in terms that they seemed to be geared to older children who liked a gothic style. Zach was very informative, kept what he said he would do, and had very competitive pricing. Emmanuel was informative, kind, patient, spent the time to answer all our questions, and demoed what the guitars sound like on Sunday for us. Adam was also informative, kind to recommend a first time guitar book and share his thoughts on the difference between the in app tuner vs the clip on digital tuner (not included in the bundle). I have many mixed feelings about this business. My daughter has been taking lessons here for years. Every single one of the teachers is amazing, extremely talented and really dedicate themselves to the music lessons. My biggest complaint, and the reason we will be looking to continue lessons elsewhere, is the office manager Christina. She is extremely rude to customers and even worse to the teachers and employees that work there. She very much shows a "my way or the highway" attitude with all business dealings. I've seen her interactions with the teenagers that she has working there as well. She treats them horribly, constantly talking down to them and criticizing the most basic of tasks that they perform at her request. I've even had conversations with my daughters teacher about her. The teacher openly told me that she is often rude and argumentative and she even threatens them with lawsuits if she thinks they communicate with the student outside of the business. This is completely laughable as my instructor referred me to Music & Arts. I've had his contact information long Before starting lessons at this location.I really hope that the person in charge of this company sees this and realizes what a negative impact Christina has on their company. read more

I began my journey in music here around 5 years ago and I don't regret a single penny I have spent here. My teacher here is Sean Johnson and without a doubt he has been the most conducive and influential part of my musical career in edification in the theory of music, playing, technique and enjoyment of the craft in general. When I had started I was a young kid who had a semi broken bass and knew nothing of music. Now I'm able to get scholarships via music, am a leading figure in the Band of Santiago Sharks (BOSS) and am making money off of this trade. I implore all to commence their studies in music here so they may reach fruition. Also check out the shops inventory for guitars and basses frequently they have a great selection. We were so excited to stumble across a local instrument repair shop but were sorely dissapointed when we got there. My son enjoys teaching himself different instruments for fun so we bought him a used cello. We called the shop to see if they could take a look at it since we were having trouble tuning it. They excitedly welcomed us but when we arrived they immediately told my son that the bag his cello was in was too small. Then without even touching the instrument they proceeded to tell him that the cello was a piece of junk and the only way to fix it was to buy a new one. We ended up taking it to another music shop today who helped us get it tuned in a matter of minutes and didn't even charge us. Music and Arts is all about the money not about the music! read more

I worked with Sean Johnson at a private school where he was the band teacher. He so inspired students that instead of sports or other playground activities the students got out their instruments and played during recess or before and after school. My grandchildren were students at that school. Now that she is in middle school my granddaughter wants to continue playing so I brought her back to Music and Arts, where I had taken guitar and piano lessons. She continues to be inspired and as an elementary student was part of a band that got a superior ranking at the regional music festival. Great with their students of all ages. Sean and Adam were super great with my son's guitar, bass and drum lessons!! Music and Arts offers a variety of experienced, patient teachers. As a student, the teacher I received is extremely helpful and versatile with the instruments I am learning (bass and drums). He has the upmost patience and talent as do all the teachers here. From talking to many of the teachers, all have many different instruments to be taught from them---guitar, piano, bass, drums, vocals, clarinet, sax, trumpet, trombone etc. The place looks to be cleaned daily, instruments taken care of and excellent customer service. My daughter has been taking drums at Music & Arts for two years now. Her teachers are Sean and Keynan. They are both amazing teachers and keep her focused. She is only seven years old and both have shown a lot of patience with her. Peter, who teaches band practice is great as well. My daughter has performed in a band at the OC Fair and the winter performance at the Orange County Mining Company. They were very organized and fun.
