WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. My daughter signed up for lessons with an instructor. Three months in he decided to leave and we were informed 2 weeks prior. No big deal except that the store proceeded to charge me for a 4th month of lessons well knowing that this instructor would not be available for lessons. I asked the store manager several times about receiving a refund. 4 months later not only have I not received a refund, now I am getting invoice statements mailed to me. Again I asked the store manager why I have not received it and all he does is blame upper management. I asked to speak with upper management and was given ridiculous excuses as to why I could not with a smug attitude. I tried calling headquarters and am placed on an endless hold. ive been there many times and you can buy most things you need to fix or play your instrument for example they have reeds for clarinets and alto and tenor saxophones but no baritone or saaprono saxes. they also have saxophone mouthpieces incase you break yours. the workers are nice if you wpuld like you could test one of the guitars or electric guitars they also let you hold the wind and bow instruments but not play for health reasons. read more

The music nook is located in downtown milford. The sell every kind of instrument you want. They have private practice rooms above the sale floor and in the lower level. The sales staff are friendly and very helpful with people that have no experience with music. Parents: if you want to start off you child in music lessons then this is the place for you. read more

Could not believe it when I drove by and saw that Music Nook was still alive and kicking after all these years! The store kept the original name on their window, but it is now officially known as Music & Arts, which is a chain of music stores. Jed was very friendly and helpful as I popped in here to buy some guitar books and other sheet music. They also have some cute kids' music toys. I recently brought a very old King Silver Flare trumpet that hadn't been used in 30 years, was covered in tarnish with sticky valves even after I cleaned and oiled them. Every staff member was extremely pleasant to deal and, for under $100, my trumpet is playing (and looking) as good as it did in the 80s! Highly recommend Music & Arts of Milford!!! read more

TL;DR: Sold me a broken instrument, took nine days to repair it, and it was broken again. Went in to rent a French Horn. The one they gave me was completely broken. I was told to drive almost two hours to get to their repair facility, which took the instrument and left me horn-less for nine days. When I finally got it back, IT WAS BROKEN AGAIN. Unusable. My frustration was immesurable at this point, and when I got to the store again, they tried to explain that it was in perfect working order and tried to sell me things I didn't need. read more

If I could give Music & Arts negative stars I would. This company is dishonest and their bottom line is the #1 priority. Looking to rent an instrument for your student? Then RUN FAR FAR AWAY from ALL Music & Arts stores!!! Issue #1) Fine print of my rental agreement says you can apply 100% of rental credit towards the purchase of a new instrument of equal of greater value. Just tried to purchase an instrument at my local store and I'm being told that "in order to use 100% of your rental credit you must purchase an instrument that is worth twice the amount of your credit." Seriously??? I asked the manager to show me where it says this in my rental agreement. He read through the fine print and agreed it DOESN'T say that but this is corporate policy. Rather important piece of information that SHOULD be included in the rental agreement. Issue #2) Have an elementary aged student that wants to learn how to play a string instrument (maybe a cello)? Great - they have plenty of 1/4 or 1/2 or 3/4 length instruments for you to rent. Over the years the company will happily exchange your instrument as your child grows so that it properly fits their stature. Sometimes you'll be lucky enough to get one that was broken and obviously glued back together. HOWEVER, if your child doesn't grow fast enough (according to their mysterious growth chart) you will be stuck owning a non full length cello. No worries. . . you can always start up a new rental program with them. NO THANK YOU!?!?!?! read more

This store is quite a microcosm of the local music scene. Every weekend I am about, I see people pool into this store for their lessons with their cases, and it makes me reminisce a bit about my old days of going to music school and shopping at Boston Music. The selection of instruments is fairly extensive, the store being very jack-of-all-trades in character, having a bit of everything at a broad range rather than a particular specialty. The sheet music selection here is definitely skewed towards beginners of every instrument as opposed to looking for fun, advanced pieces to play. The amount of supplies for every instrument here is of a similar grade. I spotted straight mutes for brass, but not Harmon mutes and more specialized equipment, for an example. I picked up a decent set of picks and a capo for my guitar last time I was here, and the pricing was reasonable, not particularly low or high, which is suitable for its music staples style. It seems a good place to look for specific music needs rather than for someone to browse. Ample parking is available behind the building generally in the municipal lot rather than needing to park out front at the meters. read more

I recently purchased a baritone ukulele which needed a new string; one of the staff members at Music & Arts in Milford gave me extensive help with changing the string and even offered tuning advice. All of the folks at Music and Arts in Milford are the best! They are very honest and helpful. I have 2 student musicians and we have been a customer for over 6 years now. They have guided us through our instruments and helped us upgrade as their skills have improved. If we lived closer, we would be taking lessons there as well. read more

I bought a higher end Eastman acoustic guitar based on a Music and Arts sales pitch that Eastman provides a "life long" warranty based on the quality of their workmanship. Just under 3 years later, the finish cracked on the back of the instrument and I'm a month into the process of getting it addressed with Music and Arts. Eastman claims the New England climate is known for it's changes in humidity and that their instruments dry out because of this. They won't accept a return or even provide a return authorization as a result. I purchased a humidification package (not required) but the very condescending Music and Arts manager told me they and Eastman can't be held responsible for cracks in the finish using a ridiculous analogy that an auto dealer could not be held responsible for scratches to the exterior of a new car. My response....an auto dealer would be held responsible if a new cars pain job started to bubble while still under warranty. This response was met with more condescending rhetoric from the Music and Arts manager. I guess if you live in New England, and are expecting Eastman and Music and Arts, to stand behind their warranty, you can expect this response if the guitar's body  "dry's out and cracks". I have had Taylors and Martins and this problem has not occurred. This sales pitch is a sham as is the warranty....and the Music and Arts team completely steps away and leaves you on your own. Not worth spending money on Music and Arts "premium Eastman line". read more

lesson teachers are very helpful and very kind. i've been going there for lessons for almost a year and they've helped me so much. employees working downstairs are also very friendly and outgoing. first time that you go there, someone goes over and introduces themselves, show you what they offer, and they're helpful people. i rented my first instrument (trombone) from this location, it was in almost perfect condition for a used instrument and came with the slide gel and everything. read more
