I want to preface this by saying that I have no musical ability whatsoever and have no clue about…read morewhat makes someone a good vs. great guitar repair person. However I do recognize a great business when I see one. That being said, I was very pleased about what Steve was able to do for the guitar I brought in. It is a 1970's Yamaha classical guitar. The guitar is a hand-me-down from my mother's first husband who died at a young age. In other words, this is a very special piece to my family. I didn't want to drop it at just any shop; I wanted to get it the care it deserved. Unfortunately when I was younger I placed stickers on the guitar and let it sit in my closet for years where it fell into disrepair - although no major flaws. Finally, after moving the guitar from apartment to apartment I decided to learn how to play and of course, first, get it repaired. I dropped the guitar with Steve and a few weeks and $60 later, I had a sticker-free guitar with new strings, turning pegs and bridge. Again, I have no clue if the pricing was in line with the work but I would have gladly paid double that for the result and the care that was given to this special piece. *If you are having trouble finding the shop, it is a above a music studio to the left of Guitar Center. You have to ring the buzzer and then go up two flights of stairs. His shop is small, cluttered with all sorts of instruments/tools and AWESOME. A true Boston gem.

I have never had anyone able to discuss the importance of strings with particular brands and models as well as what certain type of pics can do for alternating sounds. After an in-house tech shaved nearly 1/ quarter of an inch too much off my brand new Martin after a horrible set up, Steve brought it back. It sounds better than the first day I bought it. He's taken my old Gibson and found issues which I was not aware and given it volume and tone I could never have imagined it was capable.

I received a beautiful instrument that had languished for 10 years: neither was it pleasant to play nor did it fulfill its sonic promise. Sometimes when you call a business, you receive an immediate vibe over the phone. Calling Mouradian Guitar, the owner himself answered. Instantly it was apparent that I was the only concern for this man at that moment: how often can one say that, let alone feel the confidence that such focus inspires? Jon was straightforward about both his willingness to address my instrument's challenges and his appreciation for my wishing to bring the Guild back into use. Once Jon had touched the instrument, he made good on his promise that I would simply not recognize the guitar once he had dialed it in. I have had a Very hard time keeping my hands off the instrument since bringing it home. The only thing that gives me more joy than playing this re-born instrument is reporting the delight of finding a man of such expertise, integrity and high standards. No one will touch my instruments from now on but Mouradian Guitar Company.

He needed to adjust the frame and researched what glue Martin uses on their composite material. His pricing was more than fair, the turn around time was less than 2 weeks, and he even restrung and ensured the overall structure of the instrument was in good shape. It sounded and played better than it had in years. He discussed the problem with the bridge with me at length, and stated that if the quote would be exceeded, he would call (the actual price fell well below the top quote value). I'm definitely bringing my guitars back to Equilibrium for all of my repair and check-up needs.

Most recently, he replaced a licensed Floyd Rose bridge on my Jackson DK2S with the real one. He also changed the bridge pick-up. Before, he also helped with a similar bridge replacement on my Japanese Jackson SL3 and replaced all pick-ups with a new set. The work he does is amazing. When I leave my guitar with him, I know I'm going to get great service. But what I most appreciate is the communication. He always contacts me to let me know what's happening and if he runs into an issue, he'll always come to you with alternatives so you can choose what you want to do. I'm a happy customer and I will definitely be back whenever my guitars need some professional attention.
