My son was cut by a razor blade left carelessly in his instrument case. My child's instrument was returned to us after being in the store's care for repairs. When he reached his hand into the case to get the mouthpiece, he encountered a loose razor blade. He was cut on his index finger and required first aid. The next day, his school nurse contacted me because the finger continued to bleed throughout the day causing discomfort and disruption. This incident was incredibly frightening, shocking, and confusing for our family. Unfortunately, the company's handling of this matter compounded the harm. When I contacted their Customer Support line immediately after this happened, the response was so flippant, I wondered whether this was a normal and common occurrence. Then I was contacted unexpectedly by Sedgwick, the company's claims administrator, hours before I'd even received any response from Music & Arts management taking responsibility for the harm. This made me feel as though the company viewed us first as a liability rather than a parent whose child was harmed by their carelessness. Despite the severity of the situation, it took nearly 48 hours for anyone at Music & Arts to provide written acknowledgment or take any accountability. When I did finally get a response accepting responsibility, the employee identified himself as the "Head of Stores" while having an entirely different title on the email signature and on Linkedin. His response was surface-level and lacking in humanity- clearly AI generated. Their email was boilerplate: it did not address the seriousness of the breach, provide meaningful investigative findings, or explain how they concluded the incident was accidental rather than intentional. Beyond awful! While renting is easy and they're happy to take your money, returning an instrument and canceling the contract is nearly impossible. They don't return emails and never answer the phone. Never use this company to rent an instrument. I thought I was saving a little money but what I got was a huge hassle. After paying for numerous times for repairs I called them for a replacement. A back and forth process which took 2 months. It make matters worse, since they replaced an instrument they added time to my rental without my knowing. When calling the number you can wait over 20 minutes for customer service (who will never answer) chose another option someone answers right away and can connect you to customer service. They won't be helpful - say they will call you back within a few days. No one ever does. read more

I went to the downtown Ridgewood location and went in to look for music books to learn piano. Employees are really nice and guided me to what I needed. Good selection of books for what appeared to be all levels of learning + playing. I will definitely look to going back for lessons down the road. read more

This place is awesome if you deal with Marcus. My guard was up as I went shopping for a clarinet for my child. He is very knowledgable about the instruments and will find out from other experts if he doesn't know the answer to your question instead of pretending to know. He was extremely helpful in aiding my decision on which clarinet to purchase for my child. We tried 3 different models on our first visit and he offered to get a different model from another store to compare. He called us the next day to inform us that he indeed received the new model and it was ready for us to try. We went back the next day and tried the new model along with one from the previous visit. Throughout the entire process Marcus was patient and helpful. Once we chose the model to buy, I mentioned to him that I saw the same model online for less. Without hesitation, he went online and found what I was referring to and told me would be able to price match. I was very excited that I could get the same deal saving me money and time. I highly recommend Marcus - he was just awesome! read more

Both of my daughters take lessons at the Ramsey store and we, as a family, are having a wonderful time. The music & arts store in Paramus New Jersey is a complete fraud. My son received a flyer from school for an instrument rental program for five month. Before the five month was up we received a bill for a month charge almost equivalent to the 5 month rental we paid. When I called to inquire about the charge, I was not given a reason other then did you check your contract. They are big scammers. Do not rent were using for anything. read more

This is a great place! The staff are all musicians and have a lot of product knowledge of the instruments sold in the store and sheet music and music books. They can also order products not stocked in-store quickly. Music and Arts also has a super repair dept. and I take my flute, clarinet and sax to them. very poor customer service. we went there to service our flute. we were told to expect a call next day with estimate and flute would be ready in 3 days. They never called back and we had to leave multiple messages. finally after getting in touch with the customer service, we were told they do not service this flute brand. This is the same flute that they service a year earlier. Speaking to the manage was fruitless earlier experience with this store was more or less same while purchasing Violin who kept on giving different prices for the accessories. read more
