I went to the Guitar Center for some piano sheet music. They sent me to the other side of the highway to this store, which is owned by the same company as owns the Guitar Center. The store is clean and bright and a nice place to be. The employees were so helpful and kind. I felt like they were sharing me because everyone seem to have some thing of value to add to my visit. They have a nice assortment of piano sheet music. I bought 4 books which I am very happy about. They were very reasonably priced. It was very nice that I could hear a student playing the violin; It was very beautiful. They give lessons here for various instruments. I will be back. Sent a Student there with an Alto Sax that needs cork replacement, octave key adjustment, lubrication, pad and key check (possible replacement on some pads) and air leak check on an older Sax that is in good condition, just minor repairs. They wanted to completely bend the Horn and wanted $800 for it. This horn was checked by pros that only play this brand of Sax because it is a quality brand. It is perfectly fine, it doesn't need to be redesigned, just usual and customary maintenance. Received very poor communication from this shop. They shipped it out to somewhere in San Antonio, kept it for 3 weeks, did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the horn, not even the cork and wanted an arm and a leg to fix it. Everytime we called it was something else wrong with it and supposed to cost a lot more than just a cork replacement and an octave key tweak. Meanwhile my student does not have his Alto and has no idea when it is coming back... Our mistake was the person bringing it in saying he didn't know much about these things and wanted it fixed. Which prompted them to think how much could they soak us for repairing this horn. BOTTOM LINE: GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! THESE PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! They are bogged down with repairs from school districts and don't care about communication or quality service. Bait and Switch Place. DO NOT USE THEIR REPAIR SERVICES!!! read more

I will never do business with this company again. We bought our son's trombone through them three years ago and we've had all sorts of trouble with them. Billing - we opted to pay our bill rather than having them debit directly from the bank account. We have had payments get there 7 days before the due date and still be charged a late fee. Basically we have had to resort to it getting there on the first (our due date) and as a result, if the mail gets there a day late they charge us a late fee. Their billing system is incredibly messed up to the point that this would cause me to not do business with them again. Contract - In three years I have yet to get a completed contract. The "number of monthly payments" and "total cost of rental" and "cash prices" fields are blank and we were told that we would have an updated contract mailed to us with these details and I have yet to see it yet. I've called in and been told that they have a contract with this information on it and that they had sent it out to me with we first got the instrument but when we asked for them to mail it to us I got a copy of the exact same document that I already have. The "approximate list price range" for the instrument that we have is listed on the back of the contract as nearly $400 less than what they have told me the price of the instrument is. Customer Service - I'm guessing that their first line callers are so rude because they get so many customers upset about their bill or their lack of a real contract. I recently took over dealing with these people from my wife because she was just done with them. I thought how hard could it be, but every time I have called in I have had to deal with someone who is incredibly rude. I've had one person there, a manager who was going to send me the updated contract and who told me that if it wasn't what I was expecting to call back and ask to talk to them. I just got off the phone with the biggest jerk. I politely told him that I needed to get a call back from the manager and that they said that I should call in for this and the customer service rep basically told me "well that's not a reason, I can't send you to the manager for that". I explained to him the whole situation with the contract and billing and he said that it still wasn't enough. I had to threaten to have a lawyer contact them to be told that I would get a call back from a manager in 24 hours. The funny thing about all this is that we were getting ready to purchase an upgraded trombone for our son here pretty soon. If their customer service hadn't been such jerks and they had a halfway decent billing system we probably would have bought from them even with the contract issues. But there is absolutely no chance of that now. read more

Got your school items list ready? Well, I thought we did. But, I still needed a "SPECIAL" recorder. Not the kind of recorder that actually records music, but the kind of flute thingy that reminds us all of childhood music made in the car or backyard with fairies and dragons. BUT we needed to have a the real deal, it was even Soprano AND had special fingering, AND a case. I played piano, took singing, been around a ton of musicians and watched the Antique Roadshow...I didn't even know recorders were still played or that special. I have been proved wrong and completely uneducated. After a long search for this one make and model, I was referred to Music & Arts. I looked at their website and saw it was in stock, but before driving, I just called. Lucky for me, I spoke to Cindy. She knew about recorders, and I'm sure she knows about a lot of instruments. She didn't make me feel like an idiot. And while they didn't have this exact one in stock, she said I could order it on-line, OR they could order it for me and have it delivered to the store. She saved me time and money. Great customer service, friendly, non-judgemental...just dang cool. Thanks Cindy!!! You ROCK!! I was recently given a brand new violin. I first went to Guitar Center to buy rosin for the bow and ask general questions about how to tune it, etc. The guy at GC told me to to head over to Music and Arts as they were more equipped to help with violins. I proceeded to buy the rosin from GC and made my way over. The lady behind the counter was so helpful; she showed me how to rosin the bow (and actually did it for me). Then she tuned the violin and continued to give me advice about how often to tune it, maintenance, etc. I did not spend a dime in there and was treated like a first rate customer. If this is how they treat someone who hasn't actually bought anything, I can only imagine how they would treat a paying customer. Way to go! read more

As a former employee, I can tell you that music & arts is not a good company. After 1 year with the company, I've seen employees come & go. There very little training for employee but extremely high expectations. Senior management doesn't have a clue about who should be training employees in sales. Sales goals are set for these employees that are unattainable so these rare ever make commission unless there's a fluke. Store managers never compliment employees, they only tell you when you've messed up. Statements from them to employees "You messed up on these transactions but you had training on this last week, why don't you know how to do this?" So few of them realize there's a difference between training and actually doing. Training to them means someone reads something to them. Managers don't give effective feedback. Very few employees work at a time in each store. Busy time with many customers may have only 1 employees taking care of all transactions. Other days there are no customers but all employees are scheduled to work. Very little incentive to do better. Lesson board is always a big hot mess. Go digital! read more

I've visited this store many times. Every time I open the door I am greeted with a friendly hello and asked if I would like assistance with anything. The employees are very knowledgeable and laid back. No hard selling here. The music teachers are also exceptional. I recently attended a store concert with the teachers performing and I must say, they are very talented. All in all, this a great store for music enthusiasts of all levels. We came to the music store today to get the required school items associated with my son's trombone. Daniel asked if we needed help finding anything. I eventually swallowed my pride (I'm a dude) and showed him an item on the list. In about 2 seconds he handed me what I needed. I showed him another item, two seconds later it was in my hand. I then showed the list to Daniel, who knocked it out in way less than a minute. I am extremely grateful for the time he saved us, he was a massive help. I also grabbed another set of guitar strings (for myself). They had a great selection that spanned low end to top end. In summary: glad we found the place I will certainly be coming back. Our experiences at this store were positive. Knowledgable and attentive staff. However I do not recommend entering into a rental agreement with this company at the current time. Their parent company, which manages their rent to own agreements, has evidently been experiencing serious technical difficulties and a backlog for months after a computer system migration fraught with problems. This is not the fault of the store operators, who are I imagine as frustrated as the customers, but you would be better off renting an instrument through another company for the time being. Many issues regarding a rent to own agreement cannot be remedied in the store. read more

This store is not professional, nor do they have good business practices. We needed a piccolo for a concert and drove all the way to Round Rock to get it after they told us on the phone that they had one for us to rent. We spent $80 dollars to rent it for the day (one concert). The instrument did not work at all and obviously had not been checked over. It was completely unplayable so my daughter had to play her flute instead. We gave video proof that the instrument did not work immediately after it was rented. The store agreed that it was broken and said they were sorry, but they would not refund our money. read more

This review is in regards to this store location and our rental experience. We placed an order for an instrument rental online, but hadn't heard anything after 5 days so I called the store. They were able to get us a rental instrument the same day that was nicer than the model we were originally going to get from our online order. We were lucky enough to have a friend who offered to sell us an instrument for an amazing price and ended up returning the instrument very early into our rental and the people who accepted the return did so with no questions and were super pleasant. I would highly recommend using this location for rentals. read more

I needed to get my grandsons Saxophone repaired. They sent me to the repair shop. Both places provided excellent service.

I had a list of band supplies I needed for my son that had been out of stock everywhere at the beginning of the school year. I walked in, read off my list, and everything (that was in stock) magically appeared! There was valve oil and a book left to buy, and the two very helpful store associates were on separate phones calling other stores for me. Oil was put on hold at one store, and the book I needed was in stock at their south location. Rather than send me on a long trip, the man said he needed to go down there anyway and would bring the book back to Round Rock for me to pick up the next day. I've been here twice and have had great experiences both times. My daughter plays violin for the school orchestra so we sometimes have questions regarding that instrument. One time we were the only ones in the store and they really took time to answer everything. The second time the store was packed but I still felt I received great service. Her violin string broke Sunday afternoon and she needed a new one for a playing test the next day at school. Although packed, I felt they helped everyone in line with their questions in a speedy manner. The clerk also restrung the broken string for me. These guys are terrible. They came to the school band orientation and told us we could order our child's instruments (percussion) and have them delivered before drum camp. This this did NOT happen! Then they told us they would ship to the store and we could pick up the order there. Well, the store told us they have never done such a thing and never heard about this. Then we called the store to confirm the items on our order and the sales guy told us we should already have the information and was reluctant to help us. How rude! I will never come to this place again to purchase anything. read more

Garbage company with a lack of decency to treat their customers with respect. They will screw you over on deals and lie about your kids progress with their lessons. They are quick to sign you up for contracts and never live up to their word. I also overheard how crappy one of their students were doing from their teacher after the student and parent left. The sales person was rude and insulting. when I told him that I wanted to buy a violin for a 50 year old who wants to learn, he gave me a smirk and kinda laughed. When I told him the violin that I wanted he did everything to sell something more expensive to me. He even went as far as saying cheap violins were a safety hazard ( the string could break and put an eye out). The dude was arrogant, insulting and had zero customer service skills. It's generally my belief that good service is lost these days. Well, this place does NOT believe that. I recently walked into their Round Rock location completely lost on what I was looking for. One of our children needed something last minute for band. Sadly I had no real idea what I needed to solve his dilemma of missing equipment. Rebecca quickly engaged my issue with absolute care and patience as I tried to explain my needs. She found me exactly what my son needed. I had a coupon on my phone that wouldn't scan in her computer and she actually took the time to correct it so I could take advantage of the savings. They are now in my contacts list and will be the first ones called when either of my two band kids need ANYTHING. I couldn't be more pleased to have found them and look forward to many more visits to their store. read more
