Imagine my surprise when I found out that the installed Fender tuner didn't work. I called this Guitar Center and they told me to return my uke. Meanwhile, the owner of the store I was in called the Fender company, and was told this uke's installed tuner (and maybe all Fenders, IDK) is designed to only work when it's plugged into an amp. WHAT???? I called my store, they didn't know this very basic fact about FENDERS? Shouldn't they know that? How can someone who works in a guitar store not know the installed tuners don't work on something they sell (unless plugged into an amp)? Additionally, when I purchased this uke, they just handed it to me and went back to their computers, they didn't ask if I needed to know anything about what I just spent hundreds of dollars on. They could have asked me "do you need any help understanding this instrument?" Nope. They just went back to their business. There was no personal service in this store at all. But they sure did want me to positively review them.

It took me a while to convince my 10-year old daughter to take violin lessons, so we only started seriously looking for a teacher at the end of the school year. Silvia had already had plans to move away from the area, but reluctantly accepted my daughter as a student. After the very first session my daughter was hooked! It is hard to describe in a few words the honest, truly satisfied smile on the face of a 10-year old... My daughter couldn't wait to go back, and insisted that we take two sessions each week. She practiced dutifully every day and could hardly wait to show off her progress to her new teacher. She was ecstatic after less than 2 weeks when she played her violin and teacher accompanied her on piano. Silvia has the gift of magically drawing in the student's curiosity, she is also a brilliant musician, and produces results very quickly. My daughter and I are both very sad to see Silvia move away. We rented a guitar when my daughter first started. Rental of a 3/4-sized guitar (from Rock 'n Roll Rentals) was very affordable at only $6/month. We ended up purchasing it as it was more cost effective in the end, with two children using it one year after another. A nice bonus at Childbloom is that siblings are only charged half the price for lessons.

I walked away and found another company (Blackerby) with far better service, better rates, a $125 deposit, and no credit check. The difference was night and day. This company's deposit policy feels arbitrary, their pricing is excessive, and their treatment of customers is flat-out poor. I would not recommend them to anyone. By the way I paid for an entire year of rental upfront with the other company and still paid less than the $600 deposit fee that Strait Music tried to play in my face with.
