She didn't understand how bad it was out of tune, so I told her before I come up next time, we have to find a local Piano Tuner to help us. I only had 2 weeks before I was flying up there from San Diego, so it was a long shot, but I sent a Text message to (3) Piano Tuners in the Spokane area, and Ethan Reese replied to my text right away. He set up an appointment for Tuning and communicated very clearly what his pricing was and explained that often times old pianos require additional work to get them tuned properly. He fit me into his schedule on a very tight deadline, and was very accommodating. His experience and knowledge of piano's is impressive and this particular piano needed someone with his skill set. He even brought a couple keys back to life that were not functioning. I paid him with Zelle because they don't charge a fee, and it's always helpful for small businesses, when they don't have to pay processing fees. I wish I could have Reese come down to San Diego to work on my grand piano, because he is a true professional and a very pleasant person and exceptional businessman. Our family members have received instuction in piano, violin, voice as well as xylophone and other percussion instruments. Recitals are offered monthly for any student who is prepared so there is no need to wait for the end of the term or school year. Lessons are highly structured. There is an extensive music library as well. The building features a lovely performance space and beautiful grounds. If I am not sitting in on the lesson to observe, the park-like setting at Fort Mukagowa, where Holy Names Music Center is located, gives me an opportunity for walking and a pleasant break for exercise. I take my 2 year old to family music classes here and so far its been great…read more Ruth keeps things clipping along at a good pace for the little ones and the subject matter is age-appropriate. There is a good mix of singing, dancing, playing instruments and melodic games. Basic concepts are reinforced through repetition but a new degree of complexity is carefully layered on week after week so it doesn't get stale and the quick learners are kept engaged. I'd highly recommend family music sessions for kids anywhere from 15 months to 3 years old.
