my husband shops at music go round in kenosha and greenfield several times a month and he loves these stores! he plays, restores, and collects electric guitars. what people need to understand is that these stores have a lot of expenses. from the buildings that cost 10s of thousands a month in leases and utilities, to staffing enough employees to prevent equipment from being constantly stolen, to buying gear, it's expensive to own a store! they often sell their gear for half of what it cost new. you don't get rich owning a used gear music store! these stores are dissapearing! soon there wont be places to go play all kinds of instruments before you buy them! support your local stores! with musical instruments it is very important to try as many as possible to make sure they feel comfortable and perform to your needs. if you are buying one as a gift, it is important to make sure it fits the person you are getting it for! the wrong size or comfort of guitar can make a child give up on playing because it hurts their hands! it is the music go round policy not to harass customers. they want you to browse at your own pace. there are no pushy salesmen. if you need help just ask! if the item says that theres no shipping, just email or call them. these stores are dissapearing, support your local music stores like music go round! read more

Rarely do I shop used gear, but when I do...I choose music go round. They give you realistic prices (you can drop off dirty gross gear that's only worth 50 bucks on reverb and you'll walk away with $23, without having to ship or clean anything). A lot of people on here complain about prices, but they have incredibly low prices and you can even trade in gear for a better deal! They repair broken gear, modify all gear, they'll do trade ins, everything! I've been going there for over 10 years and it's always been a good time. read more

Even by pawn shop or other music store standards...this place advertises they buy used gear. They don't. They literally offer you pennies on the dollar...an offer you simply cannot take them up on. Then....they are sky high on their prices....with awful service. It's basically a private collection...you cannot buy. The workers just hang out and chat amongst themselves. My husband has been on the lookout for a new drum set for a bit and was hoping to save some cash. Enter Music Go Round. We've recently visited both locations and found that there are really good deals to be had, assuming you know your equipment and prevailing price points. We went to this location first, because he wanted to check out a kit they had posted online. It was the brand he's always wanted, it was in good shape (some scuffs but nothing major) and the price was a lot less than new and less than what comparables on eBay were going for. Sold! The Kenosha location seemed to have less stock than Greenfield, but things looked to be a bit higher quality and less beat up. I'm sure that varies visit to visit as you never know what will be coming in the door. Kenosha did seem to have more/better hardware (stands) as well. At both locations, staff was pretty stand-offish. We were never asked if we needed help or if we had questions - it may be that they prefer to let people browse and check things out on their own? read more

Today is January 6, 2021. When younger I was a singer and played a bit of guitar and so I've bought many things from Music Go Round in Kenosha in years past... The clerks at that time were very accommodating and caring... I've bought and sold a guitar and a computer keyboard, but also bought a mini amp plus interchanges... and I also bought a keyboard a few years back that you can program little snippets of songs, it's a Radio Shack MD-1160. I never used the keyboard... Then in 2019 I bought a house and made a music room in my basement and set up the keyboard -- still never used until a couple months ago as my Granddaughter who's just 2 showed interest. We played it once but it stopped working and in researching the keyboard and adapters, I found that the keyboard requires 800 mA and the adapter they sold me is 500 mA. From my researching on the internet, not only would this most probably short out, the product could catch fire... So I called him again on yesterday (Jan 5) -- I didn't want to drive all the way down there until I knew what I was going to get in the exchange and unfortunatley all the ones that matched up were a bit more expensive... So I'd gone on line and found one that was about the same but it cost more and then called Greg. He also went online and said yes, I could that one and not to worry, they would do an even exchange.. So today I drove all the way down there, The keyboard he picked for me was set aside behind the desk but he wasn't there so I explained things to some other guy working there. Then he had another guy come over and said sorry, they would NOT honor what Greg had promised. I was very upset, I asked to talk to a manager but they said he wouldn't be around until Friday. Wow... what? You have someone in your store that you're not going to honor what someone else promised and you don't warrant that's important enough to call the manager? Then the one kid said that the lower mA was no big deal and in fact it would be if you had higher mA...Obviously the kid is no electrician and knows nothing about electricity... So, I'm very upset and after talking with the fixit guy behind Scmidt music he's going to take a look at it... and anything I have to pay for I'm now going to file for small claims against Music Go Round, not just for the keyboard or extra repair costs, but punitive damages for putting me in a position of potentially getting Covid-19... and I will never go back there again.... read more

This is definitely how a store sinks. im assuming the owner is just setting at home talking politics on social media or something lame like that. This should be the first stop... see if anything used jumps out at me, and save a few bucks. "Spam filters" ate my contact form response?!? Sure. If you browse this place's website, you'll see that they push "email" (web contact form). It's a black hole. They don't check it and they don't care what your experience with them is like. Over the weekend, I contacted them about an item. Online was easiest because they close early on the weekends. They never responded and when I had time to call a couple days later of course they "sold the item 5 minutes before you called." Fine. Stuff happens and what I wanted wasn't unique, but I received a so what? in response to a query asking them if they could make it right some how. I have used this place to buy all sorts of musical instruments. Since most of the equipment is used you can get a better price than New. The selection is good. The only thing I don't like is the value they give you on selling to them. I have had to return some items due to defects found after the sale and they were very good about that. Avoid this business. Very slow, lackadaisical customer service. Bad policies. They could care less about you as a customer. They do not respond to repeated emails, bounce you from one store to the other when refunding your money (which is only done by a guy who works at neither store and can only be reached by email). I used to like this place. An eclectic mix of older and newer gear in a good location. And I appreciate the "masks required" policy. But what happened yesterday soured me on them. I called to ask about a cable I needed and, yes, they had it -- one left "for eight bucks." They held it for me and when I went into the store to buy it the price increased $2 although the package was clearly marked $7.99. The employee said the prices in the computer must have been increased because of tariffs (but this was existing stock, not new stock). He offered to drop the price 10%. I said -- correctly -- that they must honor the lowest advertised price. In Wisconsin, It is illegal for a person to represent a false price in connection with the purchase, sale, or advertising of any commodity, thing or service. The price charged for an item must agree with the lowest advertised or displayed price. They didn't budge. I left. It's not the money, it's the law -- plus nobody ever wins an argument with a customer. read more

I had a very expensive Martin guitar stolen and sold to music go round. The police are involved and my guitar is at their shop. Even though Tristan admitted that my guitar was stolen he still wants me to pay $200 to get my own stolen guitar back. These people buy instruments from criminals and they are criminals. Think twice before buying from here- chances are you're buying a stolen instrument. Guitar center up the road are wonderful to deal with and they will give you great prices. read more

Since they primarily deal in used gear they are constantly getting new things. Even with a constantly changing selection the staff is knowledgeable on all of the merchandise there and if they aren't completely sure they will check with someone who does. Their policy for buying gear is far and much less stressful then dealing with Craigslist. As a business their primary goal for buying used gear is to make money but they always make sure that they can give you the best deal they can within their policy. I've had a couple guitars worked on and their in house guitar tech always does a quality job for a good price. Overall it is a great little store.Their friendly and helpful staff combined with the interesting selection of used gear is the reason that music go round is the first store i visit when i need anything gear related. read more

I had a great experience with this store. I currently live in the Memphis area and purchased a Stratocaster over the phone. First, I emailed the store and got a quick response from Brandon about the guitar specs. He got me the information I needed and even posted some more photos of the guitar for me to view. Later that day, we worked out a sale over the phone. The guitar arrived in fantastic condition and I was very impressed with the packing job. There was no way this guitar or the case was getting damaged in transit. So, overall the experience was great. The price was a steal and the customer service exceeded expectations. I have never had a bad experience going here. Employees know their gear, prices are good and the selection is excellent. It is the type of store you can walk into more than once a week and not get bored with the gear. They deal in mostly used gear so they have a new selection of instruments and accessories all the time. I have never had a rude employee either. They remember you and the type of gear that you are into and will bust out pieces that you may not have heard of to try. They are not pushy and are glad to just chat about whatever with out having to "make a sale". I have never been denied the chance to pick up an instrument and jam on it no matter what the price is. This is a big deal for me and has stopped me from going back to other stores before. I have bought and sold tons of guitars and amps from these guys. They have never tried to beat me up on a price when selling them gear. You won't get what you paid for it....but the price will be fair.
