I've been coming to this location for a while now. I used to frequent the old location off Gravois and Lindbergh previously before the move. There's always staff available to assist with my needs and answer questions. Product selection is always nice and plentiful. I usually just look as I mainly come in for guitar modifications and setups. Setups are always top notch and techs are attentive to details in the specifics of my needs. 10/10 recommend this spot for novice to pro level players for setups. read more

We got excellent service and advice from the moment we walked in the door. Once I told the salesman my price range, he focused in one guitars that fit what I was looking for and gave us time and space to try them out. I'm so glad I discovered this place and we will definitely be back. One downside is that one of the sale guys snapped at my son when he was touching a guitar (before I had a chance to redirect him) and that was a turnoff and a big contrast to how our salesman interacted with us. read more

Place can get a bit sprawled out on messiness, but not most of the time. Just pick a day where the moon shines to the east and when the witch says so. Please do not actually do that. Spread of instruments, I'm impressed on how clean they are for used ones! Staff is real friendly and patient, I'm so glad I went here. Let me start this by saying that I had been coming in to this store as a customer for almost two years, thought they seemed like cool people with good ethics. Oh, how wrong I was... This last Saturday I went in looking for a pedal, a young man approached me as is normal to see if I need help or was looking for something specific, I told him I'm just looking at the pedals available. Before I'm was even half way done looking the same kid came up and asked "so you see anything that you like?" I was still looking but felt pressed to give him an answer, I get anxious very easily. So I said that I wanted to check out a couple of distortion pedals, I pointed some out that I wanted to try out. Before I was even plugged in I asked the return policy and the guy said that I have 7 days to return it with the receipt, so I was like cool if I don't like it I can get my money back. Once again the young man said their store policy once again with NO mention of that I could only get credit on used items that I wish to return. He had all the opportunities to be transparent and they went the scummy route. After I use this credit, I will not be returning, I will also be letting anyone else know the way they do business is not cool. read more

I'm an indie musician on tour and came in for a guitar strap, and walked out with not only that but a very fairly priced funky 70s amp, and a bunch of smiles and great shop talk with the staff and the owner, Jerry, who's such a sweetheart. I'm trans and a woman and traveling with Theo other trans folks and I will also add that we felt very safe and seen there, which is rare for any music store. Thanks, friends. And of course--the selection of gear was top notch! From 50s fenders to wacky 70s made in Japan stuff to relatively obscure tube amps, and a fantastic selection of drum gear (it took a lot of self will to not max out my credit card), it's a great experience, and they even have a fab repair bench, which not every MGR has! Music does make the world go 'round! I have explored the many instrument shops of Saint Louis. Some have been fruitless endeavors. Others have continued to earn my business. Music Go Round has been one of those hard-working businesses. Technically a chain store, the Saint Louis location of Music Go Round has the feel of a local shop. In fact, only a handful of guys are employed there, and they often work with other local instrument shops, such as J Gravity Strings near Soulard. If you're looking for something low end, Music Go Round has a very extensive collection of cheap starter guitars, perfect for the parent who is looking for an entry level instrument for a child. However, the store does occasionally land some cool pieces, too. There is a usually a handful of American-made Fenders or Gibsons hanging on the back wall. I've been doing business with Music Go Round since last fall. The guys are super friendly and patient. And they like to drool over the coveted pieces, too! I bought an American Strat from them last September, and they helped me by giving the best possible trade-in they could. In the end, I parted with some okay gear and upgraded to professional stuff. They deal mostly in used gear, which is great for bargain shopper. My Strat looked brand new, but the price was $300 less than a new one. With trade-in, it felt like a steal! 've been going to this place a long time, and unfortunately, today was the last day I will ever go back. Long story short, I bought a 700$ guitar on Saturday, on Sunday had suspicious activity on my card, someone had hacked my account and was negative 600 on my account. I begged for a return as I didn't have any funds to buy even gas to get to work. They would not take a return on the guitar. I was pretty desperate for anything at this point I didn't know what else to do. The only thing they said they could do was buy the guitar back for half of what I bought it. I don't know when I will get my money from the bank, but I thought it was pretty heartless. They got 350$ for free, from someone who was pretty desperate to try to recover some money. The guitar had been with me for about 24 hours. I don't know, this whole situation makes me sad.. after getting 350for free from me, as I was leaving, they told me to have a nice day... this past day has been bad, It makes me sad knowing how heartless some people are. read more

These guys are really down to Earth. Stick with this location and you'll be in good hands, as I'm not a fan of "the other ones". They are straight shooters, they have never tried to rip me off (most places rob musicians blind on gear), and they have taken the time to help me out with my Lefty guitars in a flash. They always give me good advice, so I try to buy something at the physical store when I'm in. St. Louis is running out of music shops with this vibe, so go check them out. read more

This location scammed me online. I bought a limited edition Wilshire pro from this location online, waited a week to get it, and they sent me the wrong model guitar worth significantly less than what they had it labled as. They even admitted to mislabeling it. Now I have to waste more of my time getting it repacked and finding someplace still open after I get out of work to send it back. I would never do business with this company online, ever again. Avoid them if you don't want to get cheated and scammed. read more

Kevin (mgr) is super duper totally awesome. I stupidly decided to get rid of my Focusrite 18i8O digital interface, thinking crazily that I didn't need it. When it turned out I was wrong, that I did need it, I went back and Kevin sold it back to me for less than it would've cost to replace with a new one - in fact, less than what they tagged it for at MGR. It was my dumb decision to sell it, so I never expected they would just give it back, and I offered to pay the full price they had tagged it at. They discounted it for me. I do a lot of business with them and they're the first to admit when they don't have what you need, something that most businesses won't do. At another local new music store, if they don't know you and you tell them what you want and they don't have it, they won't hesitate to sell you the most expensive thing they do have. Even if it's not what you need. I've heard it myself. But MGR does not treat people like that. Recently I referred a charity (March For Our Lives St. Louis) to them because the charity needed PA gear that I didn't have. It turned out MGR didn't have what they needed either. Rather than dupe the charity by selling them something that wouldn't fill the bill (they needed gear that was capable of addressing between 5000 and 10000+ people under the Arch, outdoors), they gave them contact info for someone else who could help. Integrity means a lot. They'll have my business forever. read more

I thought I was really going to like this place. They were friendly and helpful and I bought several items there. But then I came back to return a speaker cable that turned out to be not what I needed and they would not take it back. I didn't use the speaker cable even one time and tried to return it only 3 days after I bought it. They cited that I didn't open the package correctly. Not sure if this is standard operating procedure for cables, but I was extremely disappointed. I guess I will have to go back to Guitar Center. read more

Easily becoming one of my favorite music shops in Saint Louis. The nicest guys work here and have the best customer service around. Very friendly, helpful and just down to earth. No intimidating feeling I get walking into some music shops. I've trusted them with setting up two hollow body electrics of mine and they couldn't have done a better job. They're wizards! Steve is a great tech and does magic on the guitar bench I swear. He's done everything on my guitars from a basic setup to changing strings to filing nut slots. My wife and I were in St. Louis on business and decided to stop by MGR. When I walked in, I was promptly and politely greeted by Steve Bauer. I was just stopping in to look at some guitar effects. They had a lot of great effects (including some nice boutique pedals) but, unfortunately, nothing I needed or didn't already have. I did, however, buy two guitars. (I couldn't decide between them, so the best thing to do was to buy both. LOL) There was a lot of other equipment that I was interested in, but we had my wife's Jeep and it was already pretty full of luggage and antiques we bought at some of the great antique shops in STL. Unlike other MGR's that I've been to in Illinois, this place was awesome! Good quality instruments, fair prices, the instruments had all their parts, strings and were well-maintained. I know that sounds like how it SHOULD be, but the other MGR's I've been to missed badly on those points. Steve went out of his way to help me every time I had a question. He even showed me some YouTube videos on some equipment that I was interested in. After watching those videos, I realized that the equipment wasn't what I really wanted which prevented me from wasting my money and having remorse when I got home. This place is what EVERY music store should be like. My wife and I will be back in STL soon and I'm looking forward to coming back to this store. Buyer BEWARE! It is more "as-is" than listed. I bought a bass via the internet from Music-Go-Round, St. Louis. The bass was listed "as-is" due to its cosmetic condition. Also, there was no mention of the case not being included. This bass is unusually shaped and requires the manufacturers case. But that's not my beef. NO WHERE in the internet listing did it say that the bass was unplayable and that the bass's neck cannot be adjusted due to a stripped out truss-rod nut. It will cost upwards of $200 to have this repaired, that's if it can be repaired. I sent an email to Music-Go-Round, St. Louis on the issue of the exclusion of the bad truss-rod. The response was basically "as-is sale", "you're stuck with it". Some customer care eh? Gee's the average pawn shop treats you better. This has caused to taint the prospect of any future dealings with the entire Music Go Round franchise. So, I recommend Guitar Center for mail order used gear. They back it up with a return policy and never sell "as is". So now I'm off to my local Luthier' to try and repair this dog. Final thoughts: DO NOT BUY USED MUSIC GEAR FROM MUSIC GO ROUND! read more

The customer service is terrible, ive been lied to about what they are going to sell an item i was sellings resale price which determined my payout which shortchanged me. I have been putting great gear in immaculate condition in these guys hands in the hope they'd eventually start to compensate me a little better for my stuff and the greed in these guys keeps me from ever returning to offer excellent quality gear. The overall cosmetic condition of most of the store is poor and is way overpriced, you just might as well buy new, they also have no desire to haggle and negotiate pricing which is common in a used instrament style store, example i offered 200 for a bass that was 209, come on, o if you want to get ripped off on your gear your selling and buy over priced poor condition used stuff this is your place, if your smart websites like Reverb, craigslist, ebay, even Sweetwater and musicians friend have open box items that youd get something worth your money. 0 stars and the staff are a bunch off thug greedy punks that only want to rip u off they dont care about the customer which is why they will fail and you should stay far away. read more
