I own several Taylor trumpets and I took all of them in to get a thorough cleaning and also to get the valves more responsive. Sam couldn't have been more gracious and informative and kind. I received all my instruments back in Superior condition then when I submitted them to him. My son took lessons from that old bearded man that a one star below complained about. My son adored that man. Unfortunately the old guy passed away and the world is a sorrier place without him. I've read through all these comments and it's striking how most of them are five star with a few four stars and then there's several one stars. When you see mostly five and four stars and then a scattering of one star you need to understand that those are people that won't be happy no matter what you do for them. I highly recommend Sam and music trader and you can feel confident that he will not only take care of your instruments as if they were his own, you're going to get them back working better than when you took them in. read more

I brought in my Artley flute in for repair that is at least 20 years old. He repaired it and shined it up in just a few days! The best part was the advice he gave me and how he didn't oversell me or push me to do more repairs than needed. He advised me to wait until we were sure my middle school daughter wanted to continue with the flute long term before making more expensive repairs (like replacing the pads). Our family has been a customer of Music Trader in Maple Valley for 5-years. Last week we learned that MT had turned our account over to a collection agency! The credit card we were auto-paying with was renewed on Dec 31, so stopped working. Rather than attempting to reach us using reasonable means, especially given our long-term relationship, they took the extremely unreasonable step of sic-ing a collection agency on us! Our family's credit has always been above-average, so this experience was, to put it mildly, unsettling. We are taking our business elsewhere, and suggest all MT current and future customers think twice about choosing MT for their music needs - there are plenty of other choices in our area... read more

Hello Musictrader, I am shocked and so much disappointed on how you treat your customer. First of all, I have no intention of stealing your money. It's nothing but I explained as detail as I can for what I saw and heard while repairing. $100 is not that much worth to me to spend this much of my time and effort. As you mentioned, If the issues were damages by shipping, it tells me how poorly you packaged to make such of many issues to fix. I suspect it had the issues originally and you are not honest and simply blaming to shipping. Or your repair skill is so poor not recognizing the issues. I am so frustrated to you are not willing to take any responsibility on the product you sold and simply blame to shipping company then put your customer into long time taking claim processing. I needed to play the horn in Sunday evening. Well, it's over now as you mentioned below, however I will spread my terrible experience on Musictrader as much as I can and also asking to Reverb for what you did is right. Treated well by woman and the "technician" but when we tried to rent an instrument for summer practice, a rude old man with a beard came out and treated my son and myself horribly. He basically wanted him to sign up for lessons with him or we weren't getting the instrument. Incredibly and unapologetically rude that my son would break it without lessons. an idiot. Left with heartbroken son. Horrible. Update **Music & Arts in Issaquah will rent without hassle or harassment and offers protection coverage with rental in case of dents, etc. read more

It's great to have a local shop where I can pick up strings, picks, straps, etc. for my guitars without having to travel far. I could order from an online retailer, but I believe we need to support local businesses that help support the arts! I see that they have a wide assortment of band and orchestral instruments as well as various music related accessories and such. I can't really speak to their lessons or rentals, but it seems that they have a great service for aspiring musicians in the area! read more

Went in there the other day just to look and being a drummer, saw a random drum that was $40, the guy told me he would sell me it for %50 off and couldn't refuse. Not only was I satisfied, I appreciate the GOOD customer service. Seeing some of these reviews makes me scratch my head and must've went in on a off day. The only thing I will say is that they are slightly pricey however with it being the type of business as it is and it involving music..its gonna happen. Overall great experience. Full disclosure: I know the store through the website, which has amazingly useful information about vintage instrument serial number lists, and from occasional posts on facebook. It is obvious that they are knowledgeable about horns and proud of their repair work. I went to yelp because i heard about a ridiculous complaint from someone seeking a tenor sax for their kid to kick around all summer. When I was a kid, during Easter some people bought baby bunnies and chicks for their kids -- usually dyed pink or purple. Eventually the practice was stopped because it was horribly cruel to the animals. As a lover of vintage instruments, I feel that lovingly restored instruments also deserve some respect. read more

Went to Music Trader with a clarinet that had been damaged. Lars to the rescue! We were afraid it couldn't be repaired, but Lars knew exactly what to do. We are so grateful. A very expense instrument saved and in use! They are wonderful. read more

Took several instruments in for cleaning and repair. The earlier trumpets were student level brass ones and they did a good job on those. The last time we took in a professional level trumpet to have cleaned and it came back not working properly anymore. We took it back to the store to have them look at the valve and they said nothing was wrong with it. They were rude and blamed my son for not cleaning it properly. We got a second opinion from another shop in Seattle and they said there was the obvious and extensive damage to the valves and they could not repair the trumpet, best to send it into the factory. They also confirmed that my son could not have caused the damage as it was caused by tools used for trumpet repair. We had to send the trumpet to the factory where they confirmed the level of damage and are performing expensive repairs. read more
