What a great place! CD's & records are in good shape with an eclectic collection, something for every genre. If you need good quality refurbished equipment, they can set you up for a lot less than expected. They also teach! Guitar at least, that's what I inquired about. I took my guitar in for repairs and it was done faster than promised and cost less than they quoted. I've read the other reviews that said they can work on customer service; and I can see how they could get impatient with silly questions and trying to barter a buck off a record cost. Come on though, this isn't a warehouse bargain store or dollar crap shipped from China. It's for people serious about music and I personally feel blessed to have their expertise in our area. As a fellow business owner, this place needs help when it comes to customer service. I get it, the internet has destroyed the music selling business, and you have a lot of product that probably collects dust, and on top of that you are in a small market. you may have regulars that keep you above water, however when someone new walks into your store, the least you could do would be to greet the customer and see what brings them in today. Below is the transcript of the conversation the business OWNER and I had: **I walk into the store, I have never been into the store, carrying a bunch of Vinyl Records.. ME: **I see the owner, (only person in the place) going through some records in the middle of the store. he looks up, then looks back down. I walk over to him. Me: Hey there! How are you doing today? Him: okay... Me: Okay, well I recently got these old vinyls out of a storage auction and wanted to know if you wouldn't mind giving them a look and seeing if there is anything valuable or if you would be interested in them. Him: So, you want me to value your records? Me: Umm, I guess. Him: You want to fix my car? Me: ..... Ummmm.... Just wanna see if i can get rid of these or not... Him: I'll take a look....... **After a few moments he says he will give me $6 for the stack of about 25 vinyls. two of which were Beatles and sell on Ebay for $15 a piece. I understand mark ups, but $6 for about 25 near mint vinyls.... Then, it gets better.... Me: How about an even $10? Him: Listen, I have a business to run, bills to pay... $6, take it or leave it.... I simply left. I am a business owner local in Medford and know a lot of businesses. I cannot wait to share this story at our next outing. A little customer service goes a long way. If you don't want new business, then close shop and retire. do not say you are open, if in fact you could care less about anyone coming in. The good if Mark is there he's the guy that also gives guitar lessons your good to go. He will greet you and talk to you. The selection is very good in both the records and cd's. Now the bad if the guy who works on the gear towards the back of the store is the only one there don't even expect a greeting. I am a regular until today anyway. I walked into the store and say "Hi how are you doing today" I get in return a stare bordering on a glare. He did not say one word while I was there. I was going to pick up a Eagles cd but decided against it. I just cannot spend money when I do not feel welcome at all. Plus the dude was watching me like I was going to rip him off. I like Mark but he is not always there and I just can't deal with the other guys attitude so I wont be coming back. read more

Went in there yesterday to buy used vinyl. The first guy was very nice but when I asked the second guy to let me listen to an album because I could see a scratch he was really rude and oozing condescension. The first gentleman had already told me I could listen to anything I wanted to buy. The second guy said I would have to wait until the first guy was done giving a guitar lesson. Have they not heard of headphones? I was prepared to spend 40 bucks and would have become a regular customer, but I walked out without paying and won't go back. I used to buy 10-20 records a month till I moved here and have been stuck with the rude and extremely overpriced Musichead. I would rather drive to Portland and come back with a full collection from a record store that doesn't try to sell me scratched up vinyl for collectors prices. read more

As a DJ and music producer who just moved to Medford I was eager to explore the local record stores. I arrived at Musichead and was pleasantly surprised at how many records they had. However the employee's we rude, not helpful, and quite pompous, like most record store people. All of their records were overpriced an the guy acted like it was such a chore to give my a price. I found a stack of about 10 records, all of which were quite common and expected to pay between 1 and 2 dollars each. The guy came back and told the prices ranged from 5-10 bucks each. This guy is trippin. Classic example of someone who thinks their old records are worth more then they actually are. And by treating me, who worked at a used record store for 10 years, like someone who doesn't know anything about old records he lost a potential sale. Which lord knows he needed cause I was the only customer in there. read more

Never will I ever step foot in music head ever again!!! My sister has mental handicaps.. she is passionate about music. She went in there excited and anyone who knows my sister she is very out going when she is excited and talks a ton sometimes not making sense. Well the owner told her he didnt want people like her in his store and asked her to leave. She called and told me and she was bawling. so I went to his store and talked to him to see if that's what happened and that's exactly what happened he said he cant have people like that in his store because it drives other customers away... I was so angry I started crying while I was going off on the guy about how wrong it was!! All he said was I'm sorry and if she wants she can briefly come back in... How can a business owner treat people like this!! How disgusting! I'm so hurt and angry right now! Thought I would share so everyone can see what type of guy he is! There's lots of records. Awful customer service and stingy business practice. Never Ever buy equipment from here. I will spare details because my story is long....but- there is virtually No return policy and what little there is depends upon the honesty and the Mood of the owner\employee. I bought overpriced, faulty equipment because I was not educated on stereo equipment. I will credit them with teaching me quite a Huge lesson. I was basically taken massive advantage of and more or less ripped off. Not only were they rude but I now own an expensive piece of equipment that is useless. They were completely unreasonable and blamed the problem on me. Treated me as if I wanted to frivolously return the item or as if I broke it. Adamantly told me that they tested it and there is nothing wrong with it. When I reasoned that since there is nothing wrong with it- why not exchange it for a different item? Nope. Won't. Now, I understand this is a small business, probably already spent the money I paid.... How about I give it back and get store credit? Nope. I've since talked to a very experienced technician who assured me that the problem existed before I took this thing home. I am leaving out so many painfully frustrating details- honestly, I just don't want to relive it because I am so incredibly disgusted- just suffice it to say- this business has no integrity. read more

We had taken our vintage amp in toward the end of Oct and stopped in today (1/6) to follow up on the repair. I can't explain how disappointed and angry we were to find that, after almost three months, it was "still" being diagnosed! We asked if leaving it another two to three weeks would be enough time to have it up and working, but were told "no, he had to research the problem and couldn't give us a priority repair status." He could't give us any future timeline at all!! (A phone call alerting us to this fact weeks ago would have been nice!) We opted to bring the amp home and asked if he could recommend someone for the repair. He simply said Brooklyn NY, but refused to give us a name or phone number. I wish I knew why they are so abrupt and abrasive in their dealings. Needless to say, we will never be back. Good customer service goes a long way, but unfortunately it can't be found here at all. read more

I've been going to this store for years now - off and on and always find it a pleasant experience! The owner is awesome and has even special ordered some music for me. Pricing is within range and I have never received a damaged product. I would recommend this store to anyone who is looking for something special or hard to find - especially in the metal category.
