We ordered in wings from the take away menu and were blown away at how good they were! As a matter of fact, they were so good that I ordered them again the second night. The chef Aaron, at the resort, was able to create a special suicide sauce that I had requested (as it was not on the menu), using his own mixology knowledge. Best suicide wings I had ever ever tasted! The next wing order I placed was one that I had asked Aaron to create for me using a honey garlic, bbq, curry type sauce. Because it was not peak season during our visit, I figured he might have the time to make up for me. They came out unbelievable. Was told that the chef when at home is known for being adventurous with his cooking and it definitely showed well. Left me wanting more! Our last night we dined on site in resort restaurant. The meals, steak and pork were mouthwatering and definitely get stars from me! Great job Aaron!!

When you're ready to lock through, you pull your boat near the gates and idle until they open, then enter and hold on to the chains on either side of the lock to keep the boat steady. The lock-master comes to you for payment and issues your ticket. And the real fun begins. The locks fill or spill (depending on which direction you're traveling) slowly but discernibly. Takes just a few minutes, and you're on your way. Honestly, I don't know why it tickles me so much to lock through these bad boys, it just does. It's why I give these humble little locks four stars. And the novelty never wears off, no matter how many times we do it. It's like an amusement park ride for adults...not that I don't partake in a little Rebel Yell every now and again. Sometimes you'll catch the Segwun or Winona locking through, too, and that's really a sight to see.

Luckily, the operators of the lock were extremely helpful. They helped us get our battery working and even lent us their battery charger for the duration of our trip. It was exactly as pictured with lots of added touches! In the kitchen we had a large table, big enough to do a 1000 piece puzzle or play a board game (Yes, they have both available) and still have room to eat. The fridge has a built in water jug that automatically refills and the freezer makes 2 kinds of ice (it's the little things that matter!). The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need to make and eat your meals (including both glass and plastic for the kids!). Each room has it own heating and cooling system so everyone can set their own temperature. The furniture is cozy and comfortable to snuggle up and watch tv. The beds and bedding are AMAZING! I had my best night sleep while I was there! It was like sleeping on a cloud! The staff is friendly and outgoing and available if you need them! We didn't get a chance to try the restaurant yet but the menu looks incredible so we will definitely be back!

BEWARE!! BEWARE!! We…read morestayed here last year for a reasonable rate and the management was terrific but that is gone now. I'm paying $357.82 a night and I can't get a hold of management at all. Their phone number goes to a third party offsite answering service that has no information about this resort. If you need anything fixed, addressed, or even simple questions about the amenities, the answering service says you'll get a call and I have yet to receive one after 48 hrs of waiting. Here's an example... The pool shut down and we were being told that it would open in an hour. For over a day this was the answer that kept coming. I spoke with the maintenance person more specifically because management was not answering. It was clear that it would have never been an hour. They still needed to test the water and have the inspector drop by which would have never happened in an hour and it ended up being an additional day before it opened. The maintenance person was kind enough to work on it diligently but the repeated lies about the expected opening is just an indicator of how the management feels about their guests. It's day 3 since my message and no call has come. Imagine if I had a more pressing problem. We love that this is a community of cabins and I was going to book another stay for next year but I simply can't anymore. I can't risk it. There was some upgrading to the property and units since last year but now I'm seeing a management that doesn't care. I fully suspect further decline and I'm seeing the start of it. There was a wonderful young lady who worked here and she was spectacular. I've been told she is no longer here. No doubt another indicator of how management treats people. $357 a night and they won't answer the phone. That's how much they care about you. I recommend moving on to a different resort due to severely inflated fees in tandem with reduced management. Your valuable family vacay can easily be ruined here. The picture says it all. An empty office and an empty phone number scribbled on a board. 9 visits to the office.....empty.

Called to make a dinner reservation at 2pm on a random Tuesday, the mature lady sounded really stressed trying to "squeeze in" our reservation for 4 +high chair for baby and asked us to arrive earlier, so we came early before 5. They apparently are always full every night, so you need to make reservations sooner than later. Wasn't a great first impression along with an odd looking website. But when we arrived after a hard down pour we came to a third full restaurant inside at 4:30pm! It was mainly seniors and my family but it looked way better than their website and the waitresses were very sweet. All tables had reserved signs (so she wasn't kidding earlier) and service was fast at that time. Food came very fast, fresh and hot so my MIL had nothing to complain about! Didn't have room to try dessert but after hearing coffee wasn't fresh ground drip but the syrup machine kind we grabbed the bill. The lakeside Boathouse Restaurant is OK but mainly casual and for me uninspiring fare. Service is efficient and staff attentive. Somewhat expensive but reflective of the resort and its generally well-heeled clientele. The Chalet/Condominium style accommodation, not that we experienced it, has catering facilities. This would be advantageous for many as nearby Gravenhurst offers limited and unexciting dining and Bracebridge much the same. During our stay it was mainly large families and the beach areas were lively and crowded, although guests had the option of three pools in the complex.. The attached golf course is renowned and highly regarded in the golfing community and not for high handicappers. Again, another expensive aspect of this resort.
