Small towns can have a few food choices ranging from meh to yes, more of this, please. Mustang Cafe does a great breakfast. They really know how to put together a plate of breakfast staples that had you wondering if you were imaging it all because it can't be as good as it looks. Then, moving to the dinner menu, we'll, again, proportions were huge. No skimping on the sides or the main courses. However, for a places specializing in bbq, I was underwhelmed. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, but the brisket was thinly sliced (good) but was bordering on dry and chewy (not so good). The service was very good -- there when you needed them, but not so much as to interfere with conversations. Go for breakfast or burgers, but be selective about the daily specials and you'll understand why small town diners can be go-to places for travelers. Food was average. Not fantastic but definitely eatable. If you stay at the Travelodge, they will give you a 10% discount.

Service was excellent! My husband had the Bacon Cheeseburger and French Fries that were good. I had the Philly Cheese Brisket Sandwich, it tasted good, however, it was mostly peppers and onions with a few mushrooms and about a tablespoon of Brisket. The onion rings were tasty. The floor could have been swept between customers and they definitely needed to clean the ceiling fans! read more

Slowest service EVER. Over 30 minutes for a Wyoming Philly. Only 2 other tables had customers. Food was tasty but the wait was unacceptable. Not a word from the server about the delay. read more

The food and drinks are amazing! | love their Detroit style pizza. The ambiance is so cozy and dark. I love all the oddities on the walls. The best part is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and really make it a great local bar to hang out at. They have concerts. I love this place! read more

Quaint, older style diner in the middle of town. Just across the street from a church with bell ringing sounds at the top of the hour. Menu is extensive. Staff are prompt and courteous. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere on a quiet weeknight. read more

This place is now called Mustang BBQ and cafe. Judging by the number of pickups and cars, it's the local favorite. It in a plain low slung building with widely spaced tables, prompt service and good food. The traditional burger with homemade chips was perfect. The Philly was filled with sliced brisket. Hotel front desk recommended Mustang Cafe & Smokehouse to us as the only sit-down restaurant opened in town. Before visiting Bighorn NP, we stopped by without much high hope. We were pleasantly surprised. Both our dishes came quickly with great taste and plenty of food. The waitress we had was amazing. she did a great job. That was about the best thing I can say about this place. We ordered BBQ and it became clear, quick, their BBQ meats are reheated, and not in an oven. Coleslaw side was spoiled, they had run out of BBQ sauce and had to go get some. Really? Great all-around American food for the hungry cowboy or cowgirl. Ranging from simple grilled cheese to hot open face roast beef who wouldn't want to stop here? Breakfast is served until 3pm for the traveler wanting to keep the morning going a bit longer in the day. The grilled ham and cheese was superb along with the home made chips, a staple in this part of the world. The hot roast beef looked fantastic with mashed potatoes and a side salad, and the burger special with fries was eaten quickly as well. For anyone with a nut allergy, there are sunflower seeds on the salad, but the servers will quickly get you a new one without them. Restaurant is split with a front (smoking) and back (non smoking) dining area. Plenty of seating in either area with a door to either as well. Service was excellent and friendly. Bathrooms were clean. Parking is around the restaurant or you can utilize the street. Come here hungry, there are some good options to pick from. read more

I was in Lovell for a family event as this is where my mother was raised. There are not many options in this small town but this was a good place to eat. We had lunch and dinner. It is a small town service but good flavors on food. I eat the Wyoming Philly and the Chilean fried steak. The steak was huge and tasted really good. The Big Horn Cuban is on point......great sandwich....Here for work food is somewhat limited in this area, drove to Cody for some subpar Mexican food this afternoon, my coworker and myself were apprehensive what we would eat for dinner, we made the right choice, will be back in March and will definitely be eating here again.....well done! read more

The waitress refused to serve us at 7:58pm claiming they were closing despite having an advertised closing time of 9:00pm on Google and Facebook and other patrons not yet served. Our server, Jayden, greeted us we came in. The atmosphere was exactly what you would expect in a local diner in a small town, we felt right at home. The food was delicious. We had the club sandwich and the chicken fried steak. Everything was fresh and so good! Took home a piece of Italian Cream cake that was out of this world. With my best understanding, I just can't understand why this local restaurant, regardless of which "new" owner there is consistently poor. We were the only customers in dining room & waited 30 minutes for our order - a burger & chicken fried steak. Bother were had black burn marks & were way overcooked. I enjoyed my experience in this small town restaurant. Me and my fiancé were in visiting family for a few days and choose to eat our last dinner in Wyoming at Brandin Iron. The works were supper nice and the place wasn't too busy so it was easy for us to pick a table. There is also a smoking section and a non smoking section area for dine In customers. Stopped for lunch on a road trip through Wyoming after visiting bighorn canyon with my wife and infant. We didn't know what time they closed because the hours were not on the door, but apparently we walked in 1 minute before closing. The owner was very gracious and still welcomed us and another couple in- the staff was friendly. The non smoking section was well isolated from the smoking area in front. Our burger and Philly sandwich came out quick and tasty. Toppings are reasonably priced for custom burgers. The sweet potato wedges we're very good and a nice variation on fries. Date: 08.31.17 1st time eating at this restaurant, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Since I was meeting someone for breakfast & was early, the waitress let me take pictures of the quaint, but comfy place while I waited. An hour later I got a call that the person wouldn't be coming, due to business issues in Cody. What better place to eat someone else's cooking? I ordered the Denver Scramble, with a side of bacon. The meal came with a fluffy pancake & hash browns. Talk about a meal for a lumberjack!! Wow... The scramble was melt in your mouth delicious. The pancake absorbed the syrup & was absolutely to good to be true. Add the bacon (3 thick slices) & hash browns * I'm talking food coma. I ate what I could & took the rest home. No cooking breakfast tomorrow. They also serve lunch & dinner. So I'll be trying them out again. Great wait staff, speedy service, delicious food & friendly atmosphere.
