I rented a Light Tower from Mustang Cat. I first spoke with the counter reps at their main location and eventually worked with the branch manager who helped me with the light tower rental. I was able to pick it up from a local branch and there I received hands-on training on how to use the light tower. The absolute worst CAT dealer we have ever done business with. Our company is based in California and has bought from almost every cat dealer in the US. For the most part we almost always get our issues resolved. That is until we bought our first machine from Mustang Cat. Not only was this the worst purchase experience ever, but there were signs of intentional deception and negligence from Mustang. This is unheard of from a reputable Cat dealer. We bought a cat 414e skip loader from Mustang site unseen. They sent us a "Cat" dealer inspection report that was supposed to be done by a technician. Everything seemed ok with the exception of normal wear and tear. When the machine was delivered we noticed right away the engine was completely blown. It had so much blow by that you could stand next to the machine while it's running and get covered in oil. The transmission didn't shift into reverse, one of the floor plates was missing and it was totally rusted out. None of this was notated on the report. In fact everything was said to be in "normal operating condition". We contacted our sales rep Ross who told us immediately the machine was sold "as is". When we explained the severity of the damage he then finally decided to get his manager involved. The manager instructed us to bring the unit to our local Cat dealer (Holt of CA) for inspection. Upon completing the inspection Holt confirmed everything we found. The machine needed a brand new engine, in addition to a multitude of other repairs, was about $15k in repairs. Once mustang received the quote our sales reps response was "it's sold as is, sorry". He also made the excuse that the previous manager had left the company. We contact the new manager and he said the same thing, that the unit was sold "as is". As a dealer ourselves we understand that used machines are traditionally sold "as is", but this was clearly deceptive and fraudulent. The manager even went as far as to say that the engine could have blown up on the transport truck from Texas to California?! Wow, how are you guys still in business?! We will be taking legal action against another dealer for the first time ever. read more

Upper management in Houston is HORRIBLE and is NO HELP in problem resolution... they will dangle the carrot in front of the mule so to speak... lead you to beliwve they are going to help ypu but in the end they will do NOTHING... they also cover their tracks well and will give you NO email or written proof of the things they Promise to do, and the lie and say they never said that or give you a vague statement that is really open ended. I bought 2 Cat 299d XHP and they have BOTH spent ohalf of their lives in the repair shop. One machime stayed in the shop for 7 months and was STILL NOT FIXED when I got it back. They sold me the machines as Forestry mulchers and they obviously can NOT perform the duties yhey were designed to do. MANAGEMENT did nothing to help me with the repeated problems... the problems still exist and this has been ongoing for OVER 2 YEARS. I have retained an attorney I hope I can get a resolution. read more

Parts department started a new parts system and it's a mess. They had a good system but some dumb person decided to change it and now they take forever to pull up parts and lose your orders. I recommend ordering from HOLT caterpillar and have them ship things to you. Mustang keeps getting worse and worse but don't care to listen and see that their customers ain't happy. read more

Most terrible customer service in the world. Sells faulty parts and no customer service what so ever. This is pure example of American company growing too big and too soon. Don't care about the little guys and very poor management. Instead making sure customers got taken care of, they just ignore the problem.
