One of the first things I noticed was how spacious the library feels. Everything looked clean and well maintained, which made it a really comfortable place to settle in and focus. There was actually already a line of people waiting outside for the library to open at 1 PM on Sunday, which says a lot about how popular it is. One feature I thought was especially cool is their seed library, where you can pick up seeds to plant your own plants at home. They also offer the usual cultural passes, which is always a great perk with a library card. Speaking of that, I really liked how unique their library card designs are. I was able to sign up for a card today thanks to a very helpful staff member who made the process quick and easy. Inside, there were plenty of tables and outlets almost everywhere, which made it perfect for getting work done. There is also a free charging center where you can charge devices. Parking was also simple. I parked at the Scottsdale Civic Center Garage, which made access really convenient. Overall, I was very happy with my visit today and will definitely be coming back.

However, I find I usually reserve online the items I want for best selection and pick them up here. I am disappointed by the severally shortened hours and days they're open since COVID. They're closed for much of the time that is outside normal work day hours. They're only open until 6:00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On weekends, they are only open on Saturday.

They have a coffee shop, classrooms, PC areas, puzzle tables, fax copy print area, etc. Very nice staff member got my friends set up with library cards and their first set of free tickets to a museum using the Culture Pass. They are a cooling center. They have elevators and wide aisles that are wheelchair friendly. I didn't realize I can get a Tempe Library Card even though I'm not a Tempe resident. I will be getting my card soon so I can use their seed Library.... if they have one. I'm excited to go back and explore a little bit. The Mesa branch also has a print out of the monthly events calender but this one is on line only. My friends are almost 80 and prefer a print version. I go to the Mesa Dobson Branch Library and I wish they would upgrade that one as the smell of wet carpet hits you from the first moment you walk in.

Semi-private does NOT mean soundproof! It also smells bad at times, and every time I visit, I catch some guy staring at me as if he's never seen a woman before, which puts me on guard despite security presence. Unfortunately for me, the cons outweigh the pros. And whatever happened to the days when libraries were meant to be quiet? People treat libraries like hang-out spots now and library staff don't even bother to quiet them or uphold a level of respect for people trying to read and study anymore.

What's good about this system is that each library tends to carry some, but not all the book in a particular author's series. I call it spreading the wealth around. One thing that's quite obvious is If you're looking for a quiet library this one has a lot of tutoring going on at it which means that quite a few tutors have set up shop here and talking is not at library level. As far as parking is concerned, try coming at different times as its a challenging location because of the high school its attached to. Best times to come are not during school hours. Overall, this library is an awesome place and I'm glad I get a choice of more then one library.
