Scottsdale is known for its desert, beauty, arts, and just so many things to do. The Scottsdale Library system combines all of these things in each of its locations. The Arabian Library Branch is like entering a desert fortress. It seems both hidden behind walls as well as being bright and open. The building is a work of art. Between the design and the light streaming in its a lively place to sit and read or study. (Warming, it gets a bit chaotic when the school next door gets out early on Wednesdays and the kids stream in.) The children's area is pretty big and separated well from the stacks. They offer many programs for kids and adults. The day I stopped in, they had a show and tell for anyone to bring in unique vintage items from their home and share the story of it. Stop by just to take it all in. Get a free library card. Join in a gathering or program. Libraries are cool.

PROS: beautiful architectural space, staff is friendly and helpful, courtyards are pleasant CONS: not a quiet space (there were many kids and loud adults when I visited. I kept changing locations attempting to find peace so I could work but eventually had to leave the library), dirty (there was trash scattered throughout the library), the back of the library is very dark and cave-like, outlets are not an easy find

Love this library. I spend a lot of time here helping my son with his homework. They offers big variety of DVDs, CDs, books and magazines. Plenty computers to use for everyone and plenty of parking spaces. I love the high ceiling and the layout of each section. We really enjoy the private room because it's quieter during the school year. The only negative about this library is during the school year there are lot of middle school students hangout in the youth section and they are very loud. It's really distracting the younger students who are trying to do their homework.

My 4th grader loves coming and hanging out in the castle playing with the LEGO tables and other stem toys. Very inviting and just outside is the splash pad and park. The adults section is huge with lots of seating, tables, and comfortable chairs to read on. They have a large 2 room Book Sale section where you can find books, magazines, puzzles and dvds for $1-$3. My favorite library in Arizona. Also there's a full service cafe inside the library. I ordered a coffee today. Very convenient!

One of the first things I noticed was how spacious the library feels. Everything looked clean and well maintained, which made it a really comfortable place to settle in and focus. There was actually already a line of people waiting outside for the library to open at 1 PM on Sunday, which says a lot about how popular it is. One feature I thought was especially cool is their seed library, where you can pick up seeds to plant your own plants at home. They also offer the usual cultural passes, which is always a great perk with a library card. Speaking of that, I really liked how unique their library card designs are. I was able to sign up for a card today thanks to a very helpful staff member who made the process quick and easy. Inside, there were plenty of tables and outlets almost everywhere, which made it perfect for getting work done. There is also a free charging center where you can charge devices. Parking was also simple. I parked at the Scottsdale Civic Center Garage, which made access really convenient. Overall, I was very happy with my visit today and will definitely be coming back.

Okay, so here's the lowdown: this bookstore is kind of a love-hate situation for me. On one hand,…read moreI'm not really into the old books themselves -- like, the stories and info inside don't always grab me, and sometimes they feel outdated or just not my thing. But on the flip side, the whole atmosphere of the place is chef's kiss for anyone who vibes with that old-school charm. The shelves are packed with leather-bound books that look like they've got stories in their covers alone. The texture and smell of those vintage leather bindings? Pure magic. If you're someone who loves that sort of musty, nostalgic scent that only time and dust can create, this place is basically a treasure trove. It's like stepping into a cozy library from another era, where every book feels like a mini relic. So yeah, if you're not fussed about the content but totally into the aesthetic -- the look, the feel, the smell -- you'll probably fall hard for this spot. But if you want fresh pages and modern reads, maybe it's not your vibe. Still, for anyone who's into the tactile, sensory side of books -- that old leather smell, the slightly rough feel of aged paper, the aura of history -- this bookstore is a whole mood, no cap.

I really like the Palomino Library (Desert Mountain HS)…read more Scottsdale does a very nice job with it's Library system. If they don't have your book at a particular location, they will have it dropped off by the next day. What's good about this system is that each library tends to carry some, but not all the book in a particular author's series. I call it spreading the wealth around. So, it you're looking for that next Lee Child or WEB Griffin book, then if Palomino doesn't have it, then nearby Mustang, Arabian or Appaloosa might. Nice!

This library is clean, spacious and seems busy no matter what time I'm dropping by. The staff is really nice and helpful in helping you set up your library card. One thing that's quite obvious is If you're looking for a quiet library this one has a lot of tutoring going on at it which means that quite a few tutors have set up shop here and talking is not at library level. As far as parking is concerned, try coming at different times as its a challenging location because of the high school its attached to. Best times to come are not during school hours. Overall, this library is an awesome place and I'm glad I get a choice of more then one library.
