My Bar 161 is a strip mall sports bar. I hate the sound of that so it made me leery of this. The location isn't that bad. It's the fact that it's in a strip mall. That doesn't exactly equal atmosphere. I thought to give it a try. It's located by a constantly changing restaurant and a seedy carryout. The atmosphere was like a dive bar with laid back regulars. It wasn't sterile as it might have expected to be. They aren't just a bar but also serve food. It's amazing but people have seemed to like it. The beer selection is okay. It's mostly the whatever light. They do have a few local brands. I would think about coming to My Bar 161 again, and then come to my senses. It's not that awful but it's not what you would call hipster. The regulars are an interesting, scary bunch. read more

This place is a hidden Gem. It's very roomy inside, has flat screens all around the bar and plenty of projectors to show any amount of games you might want to watch. Inside is nicely decorated and the employees are always nice. They also have a fairly nice (but small) heated smoking patio. Here is what I don't understand about this place, I've been there twice on weeknights now... and both times it was almost completely empty. I haven't been able to put my finger on it. The prices are fair for the area, the atmosphere is nicer than some of the hole in the wall's in the area. It's not as commercial as franchised places like BW3's, but a similar feel. I think with some good advertising, maybe some team sponsorship deals, and concentrating on getting repeat customers, this place could be a really good spot. read more

I have read mixed reviews of this establishment so I must be clear I HAVE ONLY ORDER FOOD FROM AMAZON NOW!!! I ordered a Stromboli with mushrooms, banana pepper, pepperoni and sausage. This was one of the most amazing Stromboli I have had in Columbus, OH. The visual was EXACTLY as it was on their menu (when do you ever get that!). It smelled so amazing, my friend who does not eat pork was so pressured he needed to leave. The crust was a crispy outer layer with a soft cEnter dough. The taste.... oh the taste .... The veggies had a fresh crunch yet tenderness that gave the texture of fresh vegetables from the garden. I really don't love sports bars, because I don't follow sports, but I really like this place. The bartenders know what they're doing and the pizza is delicious. In April 2016, my wife was assaulted at My Bar by an obviously over-served patron. The guest was so intoxicated that he shoved me into my wife, who fell off her bar stool and suffered a concussion when her head plummeted to the concrete floor. I already asked for assistance from the bartender to intervene prior to this event, but he refused. When I and the Columbus prosecutor's office went to seek the video of the incident, we were informed the tapes of the night (and, actually, the entire year) were "accidentally" erased. The bartenders refused to cooperate with the prosecutor's office and the case was unfortunately closed. We were left with $7K in medical bills, and Chris Hale, the owner (whom we considered as a family friend for several years) refused any responsibility of the event on behalf of his business interests. The bar is now up for sale. As a regular, I can attest that the Hales stopped caring about this establishment after opening Hale's Ales in Hilliard aa it shows in the bar food and staff. After years of patronizing this establishment, we will never, ever, return. I advise anyone that values their safety, number one, and a decent bar experience, number two, to avoid this place as much as possible. read more

We drive by My Bar 161 often and keep meaning to go in; we finally did on a Thursday, mid-afternoon/early evening. The happy hour isn't the best, but the location, atmosphere (low key), and employees are worth going back. The location is accessible, but they aren't able to have signage by the street so you do have to look for it since it's in a plaza. The bar is larger inside than it looks on the outside and it has more TVs than you can imagine. Each TV is playing something different, so if you're looking for a specific game (international or stateside), then they will have it I'm sure! When we walked into the bar there were only a few people around the bar. They were older, but friendly. The bartender was very nice! She introduced herself and asked if it was our first time there - we said "yes". She welcomed us, asked us our names, and chatted with us for a few minutes. When the father of the owner came into the bar, she brought him over to introduce us and he then chatted with us for a few minutes (found out they're opening another bar off of Fishinger soon). When another bartender came in for work, they brought her over and introduced us to her! I was so impressed! They remembered our names throughout the time we were there and made sure to make us feel welcomed. We did get food (appetizers and a meal). They weren't amazing, but they were good for bar food. They make some of their items in house (e.g., spinach artichoke dip). As time went by (we spent about 3 hours there), more people started coming in; by the time we left, the bar stools were almost full (not many sitting at the tables throughout the bar though). In the end, I would certainly go back. The drinks were good (can't really mess up a whiskey and coke...) and reasonably priced (tall was about $3.50) They have different specials each night... Wednesdays are trivia night (7 p.m.?) and Thursdays are Karaoke night (and 1/2 off appetizers after 10 p.m.). I would recommend checking it out. read more

LOVE this spot!!! Some friends meet up here for every Saints game that doesn't make it on tv. They reserve a corner for us; ever so often we get sound too. It's always a good time! The service is usually pretty good. There is usually a crowd without it being crowded....so that might slow the staff down a smidgen. Food is fantastic. Strombolli and funnel fries with caramel dipping sauce are my favorites. Their burgers are big and juicy. I am satisfied with their beer list...the variety is better than you'd expect. I've been here twice now... Neither time with express intent. However, I have no regrets. One time I came by on Christmas Eve or something. A friend and I were looking for something 'close' and we drove all the way out to 161 from North Arlington before we found a place that was open. The second visit was chosen by the birthday girl. My Bar might surprise you with the interior. It is nicer than most strip mall bars. But, at the end of the day, it's still a strip mall bar off Sawmill Road, amirite!?! I don't know that we ever knew My Bar had food until we found an Entertainment Book coupon. One of my work sites is close by, and we stopped here after a work event. Definitely a low-key type of place, at least while we were there. All kinds of sports events on the many TVs, and there is a definite neighborhood sports-bar/dive-bar feel. Our server was initially a bit standoffish, but warmed up as we ordered more drinks and food. They have a few taps, with one or two local/Ohio beers. The food - wings, pepperoni rolls, stromboli, calzones, subs, etc. - was decent. We had wings and subs, BBQ wings and an Italian sub for me. I started coming to My Bar right around the holidays. There is a perfect balance of a sports and neighborhood bar feel.. The locals are nice and friendly and you need only come a few times and everyone knows your name; very "homey". I normally come a couple of times a week and not necessarily the same nights. The times I have been at My Bar, Jodi, was the bartender. She is very sweet, personable and above all extremely professional. She does a great job at making you feel comfortable and that "your order" is the most important one. If Jodi is the standard then My Bar is in great shape with their bartenders!!! read more

Came here in here last night to watch overtime of the hockey game. It was a Wednesday night, so it wasnt very busy. The bartender was non-existent when I first got there. However, they had a ton of TVs and it was easy to find a good seat in front of the hockey game. A giant glass of Miller Lite for $3 didnt hurt things, either. The owner of this bar is RUDE and arrogant! As I one month breast cancer survivor in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I made the biggest mistake of my life choosing My Bar over the 3,000 plus bars in Columbus to watch the world historic World Series game 1 between the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs! This bar was completely full with people in baseball attire yet this jerk continued to show and have the volume up on a regular Cavs game instead of the World Series because as he vocalized the Cavs were the champs! I am a Cav fans but this was a historical event for the World Series yet this jerk did not turn the sound on until after the team introductions were missed. I looked at my bank statement when I got home and have spent an average of $500 a month at this bar prior to this BUT NEVER AGAIN! He will never get another dime of my hard earn money and I will tell anyone and everybody who will listen how disrespectful this owner is to his patrons!!!!! The servers are always lovely but they are working for an absolute disgusting owner who doesn't honor tradition or take his customers interest at heart! read more

My fourth time there.. read many reviews that weren't too friendly, but said they were wrong......... I am done with this place. The bartenders cater to regulars who are grossly overserved.. One bartender Angela, cared more for smoking out back or Keno than any patron's wish. The kitchen cook is seen reading a book in the front of the house, and drinking from a competitor's drink cup, which does not instill confidence. I am not going to return, and I will steer my constituents away from this place which is on it's way out! unless the low-lifes who fill 1/5th of seats will keep it floating...no chance. read more
