I had my dress hemmed and altered by Leah. My sisters wedding was the day after Thanksgiving this year. The dress i bought had a faulty zipper as they usually are with a sequence gown. The day of the wedding it would not budge. Knowing that she was open on Friday, I called her up while I was getting ready. I asked her if i can come in so she can fix it. Although it couldn't be fixed at that time she sewed it up and I made it to the church in 20 min. She was a savior! I dont know what else I would have done if she wasnt available.

Natalia's experience quickly narrowed down a few styles for me and she helped me breeze through try-ons for over a dozen dresses during my private appointment in her bright, cheery shop. We decided a custom style, pulling inspiration from a few gowns, was best for my unique vision. She was so talented and quickly sketched up a sample for me and took measurements. Contract signed and payment up front, all I had to do was wait for their skilled seamstresses to do their magic. Turmoil in Eastern Europe delayed the arrival of my dress since it was caught up in customs with significant shipping delays through Feb/March. Natalia proactively communicated updates to me and moved mountains to get my dress to NY on time, with a backup dress tailored for me and ready to go just in case. 7 days before the wedding, we were thrilled that my original dress arrived and Natalia personally hand sewed a few final adjustments for me while I was in the shop, making sure I had peace of mind and left with my beautiful dress in hand. Friends and family commented all weekend that my dress was like a fairytale, that I looked like a princess, and that it was incredibly special. It's a bit tricky if you have non-traditional proportions -- I'm a 40-26-32. It was solved by buying a size 16 that I'm going to have altered to fit my size 3 waist. They sent fabric swatches for my wedding party, they respond to my emails right away, and the customer service is AWESOME!!!!

They have separated different top pieces of the dresses which allows you to completely customize and see what your dress could look like! I ended up going with the skirt of one dress and the top of another because of how great their selection of separate pieces is. After making appointments with two well known bridal shops in NYC, I learned about Rebecca's designs and knew I had to try them on. As a plus sized bride, I had a lot of apprehension about stores not having options that would work for my body. But every dress in her collection comes in size 00-30! When I arrived for my appointment, I was in excellent hands with experienced design consultants Rose and Ellen. They were so patient and fun guiding me through trying on a bunch of different dresses - including several mix and match options! I was surprised by the dress I ended up falling in love with (the Shannon gown) but I felt so beautiful in it and Rose and Ellen really went above and beyond. I also just want to shout out the location - if you're located in NYC, you can take the Metro North straight there, and I mean literally straight to the studio. When you get off the train (45 min ride), it's a short walk through a super cute former industrial area that's now all restaurants and little shops, and the studio is right on the Hudson. Most importantly I finally found my dress. It is a beautiful dress, but that is not why I am writing this review. I am writing it because Jack and Margaret were the BEST. They were willing and able to tailor my dress exactly how I wanted. I basically felt like my dress was handmade for me. Each time I came in with a new request I was greeted with a smile. They made me feel comfortable and beautiful-what every bride wants to feel. They made the entire experience a breeze. I could not recommend this bridal shoppe enough. I found this place on a whim while completing other errands in the area. I stopped in to find a bridesmaid gown for my best friend's wedding. All I had for stipulations were a color and a designer. As soon as I stepped in; I was greeted by a young woman who was friendly, eager and willing to bend over backwards (and did!) to assist me in finding the perfect gown. With just the little information I offered, she rushed upstairs and pulled a dozen different gowns she thought would look best. Great taste! I selected a handful of them from her selections to try on. She was right there to offer assistance putting on/taking off each and every gown to ensure that I felt comfortable and "fit" into each one. Her and her uncle (who owns the place) gave me unbelievable one-on-one attention and were honest and complimentary without being pushy in any way. I was able to let my guard down, enjoy my experience and weigh all of my options with no pressure! I never see this in a bridal salon. I have always felt like they're pressing a sale! I was even split between two gowns and the girl and the owner suggested I take photos, show them to the bride, go home and sleep on it and call them back when I was ready to order. She took my photo (front and back in both dresses for me!) I'm not living in the area, but they measured me and took my information just in case I called back, so that they could order as soon as I was ready to go! They told me I wouldn't have to make the trip back down. I am calling on Monday to order my dress (now that the bride and my fiancé favored the same one of the two final gown contenders as me!) and I am so excited to be giving my business to a deserving and wonderful family! I called 3 seamstresses, even having one laugh at me saying it was much too late to get this dress fixed. When almost all my hope was gone, I came across Dress By Hilda on Instagram. Hilda and her daughter had accepted to take in my dress and that they would have it tailored in time for my wedding. They were so kind and accommodating, and they have tailored my dress to absolute perfection (even cutting all the layers of tulle to make sure it fit my height perfectly without losing the beautiful train and embroidery).
