And even though the company says they are size inclusive, at the store level it is very limited to try on. The store is trying to get organized and improve but they have a big mountain to climb. I knew the dress I wanted; I just needed to order it. The saleswoman gave me a price higher than any other store I've been to, so I ordered online instead and figured I could still go there for alterations. My dress came in, and I went for alterations. The man who is either a manager or owner tells me that there is a $15 consultation fee for alterations. I questioned the fee, and the man replied that this was their policy. So I said, "well that's fine, but it makes more sense to charge the $15 if I don't actually get the alterations here. If I get them here, you shouldn't charge me that fee PLUS the fees for alterations." He replied "If you want to do it like that, we can do that." I said "Great!" The very sweet seamstress made all the measurements for alterations, and gave me a price for it ($50). That's not cheap, but I was expecting to pay about that much. Then when I go back to the man who is writing up my receipt, I see the $15 fee. I said, "I thought if I was getting the alterations, I wasn't going to have to pay the fee?" And the man suddenly had NO recollection of our conversation from 10 minutes prior. He said "our seamstress works independently. I am now responsible for your dress, so this is our policy." Me: "So, you're saying that since you are responsible for my dress, the $15 covers any changes I might need?" Him: "You know what? Forget it. You're not getting your dress altered here." This is EXACTLY what he said. I couldn't even react because I was so surprised that he was turning down my business over asking one question. I get the sense that this man is used to dealing with customers who don't question policies. And let me say, I have worked in retail before and I do not believe the customer is always right. I was not even close to yelling or being disrespectful. In fact, I was just about to bite the bullet and pay the fee anyway; I needed my dress in 3 weeks. We were simply having a conversation for no longer than 2 minutes when this man just decided to walk away from me. He is rude, and does not care about your needs as a customer. He gets frustrated when you question the policies that are clearly just made to rip people off. He kept referring to their printed paper as if it was a legal document. No sir, I have a brain and know how business works. I also know when I am being completely disrespected, and you have done it. Thanks for absolutely nothing.
