Their IPA is top notch, with a great, bright hoppy feel, and their amber was a great balance of a bit of sweetness and a bit of hoppy bitterness. I also had a taste of their Double IPA, which was excellent, but a bit high on the ABV for me that night! The rest of their menu looks great, too -- a lot of solid, classic styles, with a focus on really solid traditional brewing. I'm from Austin, which has a brewery on every street corner, and Oil Horse would be a strong contender here. The location itself is also phenomenal -- a beautiful corner shopfront with windows all around in an historic building, with a great interior and a stage for a band. The place was packed while an acoustic duo was playing and the vibe was great, and Michael behind the bar was a lot of fun to chat with and he was amazing at working the room, making sure everyone was happy and getting to know all his customers. I've known this storefront for years as it transitioned from one short-lived thing to another, but I've always thought something like Oil Horse should find a home here, and now they have. Longview has long deserved a good microbrewery, and Oil Horse has filled that niche with aplomb.

The thing I remember most was that my friend and my girlfriend both had their Daddy's Shandy, which fuses their Daddy's Juice Box Double IPA with their house-made lemonade that is really excellent. Each taco had a healthy portion of meat, along with fresh toppings and homemade tortillas (both flour and corn). The pork tacos were my personal favorite. Everything was a hit outside of the queso. It got so hard so fast and it was not standard cheese. When you went to scoop your chip, it kept cracking and was not flavorful. Their large outdoor seating area had over half the tables filled and there was a line at the bar. Anywho, I ordered my usual flight and got a Bock, a Kolsch and 2 IPA's. The beers were all solid but nothing that wow'd me per se. If I had to pick I'd say the Hop-a-Doches (hazy IPA) was my favorite of the group. The best part is that the flight of 4 beers was only 9.00. A steal! I wasn't hungry but there was a shed that served pizza in the courtyard. They had a baked potato pizza as the special that day and it was weird enough that I almost ordered one despite being full. There was also a food truck serving Mediterranean food but that may have been a rotating thing. The people were very nice, the place was cool and the beer was cheap.
