I brought my computer to "My Computer Shop" because it came recommended by several of my friends.The first time My problem was handled by Sarah. She was very Sweet, Knowledgeable, & took the time to Explain every step she was taking. She went thru several forms of diagnostic processes. She found the problem explained it & kept my Laptop overnight. In the morning it was fully repaired & ready to go home! I was Very Impressed with Personal Attention Sarah gave me during this service. Recently I had another computer issue that caused me to lose many to all of my photo & saved files. I couldn't find my recent back-up disc. In searching I found one from my previous computer that was on a disc specially made for backing up Vista files. It wouldn't load in my computer no matter how My son or I tried. I brought the Disc into the shop Hoping that somehow the files could be saved or restored. I met Phill. He greeted me in a very Welcoming way. He was patient & understanding as I explained the problem, & thorough as He ran the disc. He said the files could be retrieved. I was So Elated!! I would have lost the last 20 years of Photos & Files. He said I could wait but I couldn't. In the morning he had retrieved the files put then on a flash drive. The cost was Very Reasonable. My daughter's laptop crashed at exactly the wrong moment. Power point presentation due in a few days - work 80% complete (while working on the slides for the presentation) .... Enter Phil to save the day! I can't praise his efforts highly enough - he was able to recover some of the most critical slides so she didn't have to start from scratch. HP was going to take hours on the phone and days before they'd send a box for a repair that would have been under warranty - but we didn't have time for that. Phil was able to get the retrieved data to us that afternoon. It took a few more days to get the laptop back, but he was able to restore it to normal function. Yes there was a standard charge, but for such a speedy rescue - and a fully functioning laptop inside a few business days, we are happy to have paid for excellent, professional speedy service with a smile. I am writing to give a shout-out to Phil at My Computer Shop. I went in this morning with two problems. He was friendly and couldn't have been more helpful as well as competent since he fixed both of my problems. I was all the more impressed because of the contrast to my treatment at the Radio Shack in Southampton. They (Radio Shack) sold me a thumb drive that didn't work in my computer. I went in to return it. One of the technicians was unconvinced so I handed him my computer and the Adata thumb drive. Sure enough he found that, indeed, it didn't work. The woman in the store was surly and unpleasant and basically implied that I was an idiot. She processed the return, but I will never go back to that store again! Phil, on the other hand, treated me politely. He also ended up selling me a SanDisk thumb drive for $64 that does work. I will definitely go back to that store. I have been taking ALL my computers here whenever there's a problem, and I have 7 that I take care of. Not only are their costs amazingly reasonable, the personal experience of just talking to the staff is friendly and they know their stuff! Kids have a habit of downloading games not compatible and then there's the issues with age and virus stuff...it never ends! I have recommended all my family and co-workers to them and they are ALL very happy with going there. You won't regret stopping in to see for yourself. The few times they couldn't fix the problems, I was able to purchase a new computer through them and they transferred all my data from one computer to another! Makes it all less painful! My monitor screen was periodically blinking. So before I lost the visible access to my computer and having never had a computer repair before, I went to Best Buy believing that the Geek Squad could solve my problem. I was told that they could send it out, and the repair would take about 2-3 weeks! UNACCETABLE! While telling my cousin, she suggested I go to My Computer Shop in Hampton Bays. I met Phil who not only immediately identified the problem, ordered the necessary LCD replacement and had it repaired and back to me within 24 hours!!!!! I just had a wonderful experience with Phil at My Computer Shop. I had uninstalled Microsoft Office because the program had stopped working properly. I was unable however to re-install it even though I followed Microsoft's instructions and had the program key. The installation kept getting stuck at 76% finished. I took my laptop to MY COMPUTER SHOP because it wouldn't boot up. The technician could have billed me for repairs I did not need. Phil, the technician I relied on, was very honest when he determined that the problem with my laptop was battery related and did not need service.
