I went to My dentist and did the cleaning last year. Then I had a crown come off went to them thiis April 2026 to had crown put back on did X-rays and cleaning then they tell me I have five cavities. This this is not normal. I went to Saia smiles for a second opinion off of 32Nd St. in Joplin had my x-rays transferred, and Saia smiles, looks at them and tells me I have no cavities. Im not a good patient, am difficult that is just the way I am. That being said.I did get upset but I never threatened the staff or got violent. My Dentist overbooks and leaves you sitting there an hour past your appointment time almost every time.. They took out all my upper teeth and did bone graphs. Each time I went in they extended the time before I get my posts and then blamed it on my boney ridges, which they should have seen before they took my teeth out. Now they are discharging me as a patient and basically leaving me handicapped and now I have no top teeth for another Dentist to make an impression from. Worst place I have ever been for dental work. I don't usually post names but this particular person who works here was particularly nasty, Jody, who actually had the audacity to attempt to give me injections before my procedure without any numbing whatsoever. They messed up my procedure so bad that even their own dentist told them that he didn't know what they were thinking to give me invisalign treatment when I have weak support in my jaw and that invisalign would actually make my teeth fall out. I know what they were thinking, they were thinking of the $ and nothing else. For the sake of your dental health, finances and mental health, avoid this place at all costs. read more

I went here for dentures they told me 5400 and we will them in a month . Took me 4 months . I got them and went back several times because I couldn't wear them. Also told him they were centered . He said well your nose is a little crooked. Didn't even look at them. I went to another state . While I was there I got second opinion. Dentures are horrible . Take them back. In May they agreed to take replace . 5 months today I finally got them. They are horrible . They been rude the whole year I've had to deal with them. Don't go there. Any good review has to be a lie. They are the worst health care place I've ever been to . Go some places else . I hate to see any one walk on that door. read more

This comes as quite the conundrum for me as to how to write this review. I've been relatively happy with the care that I've had there, but the billing by My Dentist is something worthy of a horror film. During my wife and I's initial visit to get established with a cleaning and what not. We were told that the initial visit and cleaning would be covered 100% by insurance. When we went in to get some fillings down we were told there was an extra $85~ that we needed to pay. I took this as a one off and paid it. My wife went after me to get her fillings taken care of... After this we were told there was an ADDITIONAL $170+ that needed to be paid. Long story short if you have excess free cash that you don't mind throwing to the dentists office you'll get good service. If you prefer to pay what you are quoted...I'd unfortunately recommend that you look elsewhere. Again, the Dentists and the Techs were pleasant, but the fact that the billing can't seem to get stuff straight means that we'll most likely be looking elsewhere for the next go around. read more

I would not recommend this dentist office to anyone looking for a new dentist or moving to Joplin looking for a family dentist. The staff is polite, but they have messed up on billing for over 6-months, the dentist seemed not care to make me and my family feel like he was present and seemed to only care about the most expensive option, with little to no concern about what's best for the person or alternative options for those who cannot spend $3000 on one tooth. If I could I would of never gone here in the first place. Horrible. read more

Nice enough. But the dentist has poor skills. I had a filling that cracked. I should have insisted on just replacing the filling. Instead I let him change it to a crown. Big mistake. His work has been described as my new dentist as "like socks on a rooster" because the "margin" is terrible. And it is huge. It feels like a big flat glob next to my real teeth. I haven't been able to chew on that side ever since. Finally I have new insurance and can pay to h ave the crown removed and replaced. Shame to pay for work twice. Update: this is a fraudulent dental They balance billed me without my knowledge. When I brought it to their attention the girl became snarky and curt with an explanation of "blah blah blah several weeks, etc, etc." The provider agrees to accept the insurance contracted amount and refund any overage the patient has paid... And yet, the girls up front are giving me the run around and refusing to give me a refund. If it's not the patient's responsibility, IT'S NOT THE PATIENT'S RESPONSIBILITY! I am filing a complaint with the insurance commissioner. This office is quick to take your money but Good Luck getting getting back what is legally due you. read more

I normally would not bother taking the time to write a negative review on a company, but my experience with My Dentist has been the WORST dental experience I have ever had. My review may be long, but I had multiple issues and I want them to be noted... I had previously seen another private dentist in Joplin, Richard Read. He is not associated with My Dentist. My parents took me to his office when I was two years old and I continued to see him up until I turned 19. Dr.Read was great, throughout the years he did my regular check-ups, fillings, cosmetic work and he removed my bottom wisdom teeth when I was 16. He took his time and there was never a problem. Once I turned 19 I didn't qualify to be on my parents insurance due to my income. Due to that I switched over to Guardian and he was out of network. I have a $300 deductible for out of network visits. MyDentist was in-network. I had a small chip repaired on my front tooth & I had my top wisdom teeth removed. 9/17/18 First Visit - I had the receptionist contact my insurance to verify that the exam would be covered before being seen. I was told that it would be covered and all I would have to pay is $20 for fluoride since its not covered by my insurance. I had no issues paying that. The exam went well, I was told my teeth looked good. Scheduled the apt to have my wisdom teeth removed and the chip repaired. 10/1/18 Procedure - I once again verified that both procedures would be covered by insurance. I paid $35 for Nitro so I would be sedated during the procedure. Totally fine with paying that. Was told everything else was covered. I sat in the chair with the Nitro mask on for what felt like 45 minutes to an hour. I don't even remember Dr.Duffy numbing me. I suddenly snapped back to reality when he was removing my top right tooth. I started to cry because I was in so much pain. I have a high pain tolerance, but this HURT and I could hear crackling when he was pulling. He was able to remove it quickly. When removing the tooth on the right side I had to tell him to stop because of the pain. At that point he moved on to repairing the small chip in my front tooth. I wasn't able to view it during the procedure. Very little time was spent fixing the chip, it seemed to be very rushed. He went back to removing my right tooth and I almost crawled out of the seat due to the pain level.... I had my bottom wisdom teeth removed when I was 16 by my previous dentist without a problem and I was less sedated then. That didn't compare to the pain I felt when he was removing my top wisdom teeth. I drove myself home after the procedure without a problem. Was given pain meds, no antibiotics. 10/7/18 I had a bad taste in my mouth and still saw swelling. My molar was also broken during the procedure and the chip was still visible! Tried to call, couldn't get through. Messaged them through Facebook with concern of infection and was told I would get a call. I never received a follow up call... 10/22/18 I get a letter from insurance stating they couldn't cover the full amount due it being ran as out of network. They said I owed over $380! I have a $1,000 benefit per yr on my insurance, I only pay a deductible for out of network visits & was told by MyDentist TWO times that they were in-network. I also got a bill through MyDentist stating I owed them $248.40... I called them right away and the lady over the phone stated 'We have signs in our office saying we only give insurance 'estimates'. ' WHAT AN EXCUSE AND WAY TO PUSH PEOPLE OFF. This wasn't a small difference. Glad I know what my insurance covers. I then made a visit to MyDentist after calling my insurance. Dr.Duffy had paperwork in circulation to be in-network but was previously out of network. They thought it would run through as in-network but I wasn't informed until I got the bills. That $248 bill they sent me turned out to be $50 since 40% of removing an impacted tooth wasn't cover. I had no problem paying the $50 because that was correct. I was told that $50 was ALL I OWED. They also did a free post op visit to look at my molar. They tried to say that its normal for fillings to eventually break, the filling in that molar is still there, the actual tooth was broken when the doctor was removing the tooth next to it. My molar is still broke! 11/18/18 I get ANOTHER BILL from MyDentist for $181. I just went to their office on 11/20/18. Again the lady tried to fall back on their signs and then tried to tell me that my insurance would charge me a $300 deductible per year no matter what? How many excuses can you make? I didn't leave until they called my insurance, turns out the issue I had on 10/22 was never taken care of, it just showed I made a payment of $50 on the $248 they tried to tell me I owed. The $181 dismissed. They billed me wrong TWICE. Said it was taken care of and didn't take care of it! PAINFUL PROCEDURE/BROKEN TOOTH - NO FOLLOW UP - CANT GET BILLING RIGHT - EXCUSES read more

Horrible customer service. Horrible customer representatives. Make sure you do your own insurance verifications before having ANY procedures done because they DO NOT do it for you and will throw you the bill because they didn't check to see what is covered under your insurance. They made me feel as if my billing concerns were a hassle to them, yet they don't do what is necessary to see what procedures are covered. Horrible! Horrible!! Horrible!!! Make sure YOU verify with your insurance and get a written copy for your own records. Don't just let them show you on paper THEIR estimate without getting a copy. I had a procedure done and then after my last appointment was completed on my procedure I paid them what they told me I owed out of pocket and the balance was being covered by insurance. I even inquired that this is final total payment and they said YES. Next month I get a bill for $749.00. I called to inquire but was told to disregard it as it is being covered by insurance. Next month same bill resent to me. I called and got the same story. Adding they are in contact with insurance but to disregard. 3rd month arrives and I get another bill. By now I start to press them about getting this settled. Next few conversations with them I am told the bill stands and that basically they made an error at calculating insurance. Had I known the actual out of pocket expense I would have paid the $100.00 and had the tooth pulled instead of the thousands for a root canal. I finally paid it off in full just to protect my credit rating. Then canceled my account with them for any further services. read more
