DJ Israel Florence, aka "DJ Hot Chocolate," was OUTSTANDING. He kept our party going, and chose all of the appropriate music for our very diverse crowd. Everyone, from my very traditional Asian family, to my husband's international friends (from France), to our coworkers and friends who are local to here, enjoyed the party, and at one point, I would say that 90% of our attendees were on the dance floor partying it up! Mind you, this crowd was a hard-to-please, quiet crowd, that I would say are quiet 99% of the time--but you would've never guessed it from that night, because DJ Hot Chocolate got the crowd moving and brought out that 1% of wild, crazy fun from our attendees! I can honestly say that I've never attended a wedding as crazy, fun, loud, and memorable as this one--and I'm just glad that this was MY wedding! Everything, from the DJ hyping up the crowd, to our first dance music, to the ceremony songs, to the Cupid Shuffle (!!! most fun!!!), was executed perfectly. From beginning to end, DJ Hot Chocolate really took the driver's seat and steered the wheel, leaving absolutely nothing for my husband and I to worry about. We were able to dance the night away and have fun with our friends. Best of all, DJ Hot Chocolate is warm, friendly, personable, and really cares about you before, during, AND after the wedding. Our guests complimented the song choices over and over again, and loved the music and the PHOTOBOOTH! Earl Henry was also a pleasure to work with, and was easy to talk to and professional when it came to setting up our contract for the DJ, uplights, and photobooth. We had a diverse group of vendors, some that were good, and some that were awful, but MyDJs was by far one of the most professional and AMAZING vendors we worked with. We found DJ Alex at a bridal show, and instantly loved his energy. We felt like he had been a long time friend, which made the entire planning process super easy and comfortable. MYDJs and DJ Gill Sotu were the best! I found out about MYDJs because my sister-in-law booked them for her wedding and they were great. I originally booked them for our 2020 wedding (which was then postponed to 2021). I remember seeing a few DJ options and we could watch their videos to get a feel for the DJ and their music tastes. We then hopped on a call with DJ Gill Sotu and thought he was great. They have a cool website portal, where you can pick songs you want for certain events, songs you want played, you can rate music genres, and get recommendations for the events that take place. To be honest, right around my wedding was a stressful time for many reasons, so I never fully filled it all out, but we hopped on a zoom with Gill and my planner a week or so before and I was able to give him an idea of what we liked. I love music, but I'm terrible about knowing what is appropriate for a wedding. I just told him we are millennials that like a mix of old school r&b and classic music and trusted him with his expertise. He was great! We got so many compliments on the DJ, and the dance floor was full all night. We even had a Soul Train line going at one point. MyDJs was an absolute pleasure to work with and was integral to making our ceremony so special and our reception such a great party. Earl (owner) was extremely accommodating, flexible, and more than fair in customizing our package and contract exactly to our needs. Our DJ was Deondre, and I literally cannot recommend him more highly. He DJ'd a close friend's wedding and we were so impressed at that reception that we got his card and hung onto it for 6 months and booked him for ours. He set the bar pretty high at our friend's wedding, but he absolutely delivered at ours. Aside from having the dance floor packed all night, he went above and beyond in helping us prepare for our event. I had requested a very special song for my mother-son dance, and unbeknownst to me this track was apparently a limited release and extremely hard to procure, even online. Without my knowing, Deondre drove over 2 hours to Los Angeles to a specialty record shop and dug through piles of vinyls until he found and purchased my song. Unbelievable dedication to his craft and customer service. Do yourself a favor and book this guy. Israel was one of the few wedding vendors I knew I did not have to worry about. He made a great first impression and never disappointed after that initial meeting. His positive fun energy is infectious and you can't help but to have a good time with him. Israel makes you laugh a lot! All of my wedding guests are used to a DJ that kind of just stays behind the table and plays music. They all were raving about my DJ and saying how awesome, fun, and cool he was because he is more interactive with the guests and actually will get out on the dance floor and encourage you to dance. The site definitely helped and made it easy to enter in all the necessary music needed throughout the day so you didn't miss anything. In a later meeting, Israel was great about going over the timeline and music list with you. Thank you Israel for being an awesome DJ that did not disappoint on my big day! Hoody flew all the way to middle-of-nowhere Tennessee to DJ our wedding. He was such an indelible part of the entire weekend, I think I have recommended him to 4 other couples, all over the USA. Before the wedding he was thorough with his organization and making sure he knew exactly what we wanted as far as music, vibe and overall experience. He researched our songs and put together a really amazing set that kept our entire crowd happy and dancing and excited for more. The perfect example of working with Hoody: when it started to lightly rain during the dancing portion of our (outdoor) reception, before most of us even realized the rain was falling, Hoody had already rallied 10 people to grab all the equipment and table and move it into an adjoining room. In less than 3 minutes, he moved a party of 150 people without anyone skipping a beat. It was incredible to watch. Hoody is professional but above all else, he is fun as hell. wedding date April 26, 2011 MY DJs in San Diego Back in Oct. 2010, you DJ'd our wedding and La Jolla and you were fantastic! You were exactly what we had hoped for and more! We received so many compliments about your lunch hour selections. I know it wasn't groundbreaking but I enjoyed it a great deal more than the typical wedding music. When we went outside you were even better. A female friend of mine said your voice "made me want to take my clothes off!" Another told me that we had "the best music ever." I appreciated how you were quick to mix in requests and made everybody feel welcome to approach you. At some point I jokingly told my mother in law I was going to put my foot down and move us out of the seventies and into 2010 - she said "don't you dare." Later in the night, a little more house, hip hop, some club vibe. Really fun, good to move to and good to chill with friends. There's a trance-ish tune with deep grinding, almost industrial base that I love but never knew who or what, and all of a sudden, you're rockin' it. Bravo! read more

To my surprise, most of the DJ's that I contacted didn't want to meet with me until after I committed to have them at my wedding. Dealing with Israel prior to the event was a pleasure, even when we weren't always timely on getting him the information he needed. Literally picked My DJ's and Earl Henry off the internet and could not have been more pleased. Earl was extremely helpful. We had a last minute cancellation of a band and needed a DJ for a party four days from my first contact with him. Earl was very calm about this, said he could help and did. He hooked us up with Brian Swartz, who turned out to be a GREAT DJ. He called in advance, wanted to know what music we liked, didn't like, etc. He asked for any special requests which he handled very professionally. The crowd really felt the party was "made" by the work Brian did. My only regret was that we did not have more time to plan. MY DJ's was a wonderful match for our wedding. We really appreciated how specific questions were asked before the wedding to make sure the night went the way we wanted it to. At the reception, both families were having a great time on the dance floor, despite some of them not being frequent dancers! I can't say enough how grateful we are to have had DJ Alex at our wedding. He did much more than just cue up awesome tunes (which he definitely did that too). He went out of his way to make custom mixes for our first dance, father/daughter, and mother/son dances. He pivoted to a rain plan 48 hours before the wedding. Best decision to use MY DJS! We loved being able to watch each DJs intro video on their website to pick out the one that clicked with what we were looking for. That is where we discovered DJ HOT CHOCOLATE aka Israel. He was communicative, fun, talented, and has a magnetic personality. We had a smaller, dry wedding, and wanted for him to bring the energy. He definitely did that. He has so much experience, and it shows. We also loved doing our market lighting and photo booth through MY DJs. The lighting looked great, and everyone loved our photo booth. The entire process of working with this company was perfect. From the initial meeting to selecting a DJ that matched the event energy to the day of the wedding, there was tons of great communication, follow-up, and clear instructions on how to get ready. DJ Leon in particular absolutely killed it, keeping things moving throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. DJ AL KILLED IT. There are three things people judge a wedding by - decor, food, and music. The venue took care of the first two, but DJ Al brought it home with the music. We had a mixed crowd... a bunch of old Korean adults and a diverse young crowd. The transitions were smooth and he got the adults to go wild with some Whitney Houston and kept them going all the way til the wee hours of the night with your typical hip hop / House club music. I don't know how he did it but he did and I HIGHLY recommend him for any wedding. He goes by what the crowd wants and is very thorough - planning was so detailed and he covered every aspect (e.g. cake cutting, intros, etc.).
