I live in Atlanta, so when my significant other and I decided to get married in California, we had to start our wedding planning from 2000 miles away. We quickly settled on holding the ceremony on a Sunday in March with special meaning for us. The next step was to find an officiant. The first person I called was a guy in Palm Springs who claimed to specialize in same sex weddings. He was difficult to get ahold of, then ended up being a no-show for a scheduled phone call. I had also called Carla, because I liked her website and the reviews of hers that I had read. She got back in touch with me quickly. Set up a consultation, and told us about her services. We thought her pricing was very reasonable, and she helped us plan the ceremony from scratch. She laid out various options, made suggestions, and at the end, she put everything into a written format. We booked the ceremony in July; about 9 months ahead of the big day. We put down a deposit for half the cost, with an agreement to put down the other half shortly before the event. We had a follow-up phone call a couple of weeks before the wedding and sent a few more e-mails. On the big day, Carla showed up about 20 minutes before we were ready to get started (as promised). Our witnesses signed some paperwork, and then she did a quick walk-through for us of how we should hold each others' hands during the ceremony. She had everything written out, including our love-story and vows. Everything was very easy and progressed smoothly. At the end, she helped us with the final paperwork, chatted a little bit, and then was on her way. All in all, this was a great experience, and I'm glad we found Carla.
