I've been going for about a year and a half now and the improvement I've been able to make is mind blowing! I went from not having the strength to even hang on the trapeze bar with my hands for more than 5 seconds, to being able to pull my whole body weight above me in a pull over! Mrs. Paulina and the rest of the staff are so incredibly kind and encouraging. She always listens to what I want for myself and helps me make tangible goals out of them. Where do I start. My daughter danced at Jeans for 6 years. She was on their competition team and…read moreone of their best dancers. We dealt with teachers who didn't know how to teach proper technique, didn't know how to cut dancers from competition dances before comp, and didn't know how to run a proper class. The icing on the cake for us was the solo that was drafted for her to perform doing competition season this last season. My daughter being sixteen was given a solo that was fit for a 12 year old. If you cannot pay for multiple classes, 5-6 per week, then your child will not receive priority. She will not get the training she deserves and needs. Actually I don't think the instructors have the proper technique at all, as they are volunteers from the community without any proper real training and the performances show just that. Year after year we sat through two recitals (that you are forced into paying for $60 recital fee twice per year) where each dance had the same dance moves and technique, it was nauseating. The dance costumes have a markup of at least 50%. I will never forget the time I was given a $1100 bill for competition fees and costumes to be paid 2 weeks before Christmas and I was given this on 12/01. Not much of a heads up. I would highly recommend to avoid this studio at all costs. There are many more studios around who offer proper training and technique and do not price gouge with costumes, recital fees, etc.

I…read morewanted to provide my son quality time, because I was so, so busy with his younger brothers, premature twins. Not only did Vernetta fulfill this need, etc. for him (his time), but she also included my twins. When the twins got old enough to climb out of their play pen, Vernetta was not only very understanding about it, but she and the other moms were very helpful. There were times when the kids in the dance/gymnastic class would sit in a circle. Yes, this was the time my other two sons would join in and sit with the group and they would be excited when their brother would win "dance bucks" to redeem for prizes. Ms. Vernetta was so positive, patient, empowering, etc. I can't say enough about her. Yes, indeed, she influenced their lives a great deal. Mike Jr helps out the Chicago community and also teaches (at the catholic university) and our twin sons, David and Robert, also do comparable work /help with the community and work in Washington D.C. Although our sons live so far away from us, we are grateful they had a nice, positive beginning and were around such positive people, like this dance teacher/mom group. Thank you so much, Venetta. This studio is a gem! Ms. Vernetta is amazing and she…read moreteaches more than dance. Her students learn listening skills, accountability, rhythm, turn-taking, following instructions, and more. The studio graciously allows children to borrow everything needed to participate (ballet shoes, tap shoes, leotards all in various sizes). Young children receive "ballet bucks" for class participation and doing/bringing back "homework" (a coloring page). She has older students help teach the younger classes. This allows for a much larger teacher/student ratio needed for the "littles" to have a successful class. This strategy also provides older students with leadership skills and practice with asserting themselves and directing others! I am thrilled to have found this sweet little neighborhood studio. PS the music is darling!
