Where do I start. My daughter danced at Jeans for 6 years. She was on their competition team and one of their best dancers. We dealt with teachers who didn't know how to teach proper technique, didn't know how to cut dancers from competition dances before comp, and didn't know how to run a proper class. The icing on the cake for us was the solo that was drafted for her to perform doing competition season this last season. My daughter being sixteen was given a solo that was fit for a 12 year old. If you cannot pay for multiple classes, 5-6 per week, then your child will not receive priority. She will not get the training she deserves and needs. Actually I don't think the instructors have the proper technique at all, as they are volunteers from the community without any proper real training and the performances show just that. Year after year we sat through two recitals (that you are forced into paying for $60 recital fee twice per year) where each dance had the same dance moves and technique, it was nauseating. The dance costumes have a markup of at least 50%. I will never forget the time I was given a $1100 bill for competition fees and costumes to be paid 2 weeks before Christmas and I was given this on 12/01. Not much of a heads up. I would highly recommend to avoid this studio at all costs. There are many more studios around who offer proper training and technique and do not price gouge with costumes, recital fees, etc. read more

This business is NOT adhering to ANY COVID safety precautions. I was told there would be health screenings prior to entering the dance studio. Nope! I was told 6 parents max in the waiting room to observe. Nope! We were packed in that closet like heavy breathing sardines! The instructors did not wear masks and the kids were not encouraged to stay distant. They may offer a free class, but I possibly just received COVID. Say thanks but no thanks. This business should not be open right now, and they are putting the lives of children and their parents on the line for $$$$$$. read more

Had my daughter in beginning tap for a year a few years ago. She loved it. They, on the other hand did not love her. She is a special needs child, and has bad vision. The teacher explained that she had a schedule because at the end of the year they put on a performance. What this dance studio is about is making bucks off the end of year performance. They charge a lot for the costumes. They charge a lot for the tickets that everyone must buy. They push you to sell tickets and then they charge an arm and a leg for photos and videos. One may Not video the performance. It's a scam. If I had my head screwed on tighter I would've sued them under ADA. I danced under the real Jean for years and in my opinion, is rolling in her grave. read more

This place is awesome, my daughter enjoys every time she's in class. COVID-19 is not a issue because they use all precautions, they check temperature and provide hand sanitizer to all the students every time they enter the building, once they're inside they're 6 feet a part and face mask always. When I have a question, they always have an answer for me. They make me feel now part of their family. read more

My daughter started dancing at Jean's Dance studio four years ago as a first grader. She immediately bonded with her ballet teacher and the friends in her class. She has continued growing as a dancer and performer ever since. This is a very family friendly dance studio that is very supportive and encouraging without the drama. I first brought my daughter here when she was 3 yrs. old for a free class. She LOVED the experience so much that we have been with the studio for the past three years and she has grown and got to participate in so much. I am so happy they have reopened as my daughter needed a small piece of normal. When we arrive, she waits on her tape line, gets her temperature taken and answers the questions. I love that they make the kids answer the questions as they are the most honest. They have a separate entrance and exit and give hand sanitizer on both entrance and exit while everyone wears masks. It's been a while since we've gone back here since I've been getting a GREAT experience elsewhere. The more I compare this place to my current studio, the more frustrated I become so I've decided to place a review in case other unsuspecting parents don't know better. As a first time dance mom I would NOT recommend this place to ANYONE unless you like to pay way more than what's relevant to your child's dancing education and get way less... I enrolled my daughter and was immediately charged an enrollment fee plus the entire fixed monthly fee (regardless of enrolling mid month and getting a supposed "free class with tutu" and no tutu provided). Ok no big deal, I was excited to get her started. I was promptly informed that the class would perform at the Del Mar Fair and so I enthusiastically purchased 2 $50 dresses from them for the recital. Because I had no experience at the time, I didn't realize that the classes were rowdy, totally uncontrolled, and the teachers were more interested in entertaining the kids with random songs and exercises and then throwing them onstage, instead of teaching the kids basic ballet and tap. Fast forward a few months, (and of course being charged the same fixed price for each month whether classes were cancelled due to holidays or not), it was time for the recital! And there were 2! My family was out of town on the date of the "in house" recital so I planned on only attending the performance at the fair. The in house recital had a "performance" fee for my daughter as well as admission fees for every member of our family. When I questioned the fee for her to perform for a show that they were also charging family and friends for, they seemed confused; so I asked my friend who teaches ballet for older students, and she told me I was getting ripped off. Meanwhile, I wanted to hold off moving on because of the anticipated fair recital and because I had had family and friends save the date. HOWEVER, they notified me that because I wasn't interested in paying the performance fee for the in house recital (completely different venue and date that we COULD NOT ATTEND), they wouldn't allow her to perform at the fair (we already had tickets to the fair so there was no obligation on their part to give us anything extra). Fed up, I pulled my daughter out of their classes and enrolled her elsewhere. Now, we pay a little bit less per month for a way more focused class that emphasizes an understanding of the dance and techniques for the kids to perform the more difficult moves. They prorate the fees if classes are cancelled and are very flexible with sick make-up days too. When purchasing costumes for recitals, the parents are given the online store info to buy the dresses at-cost ourselves and we actually know what we are getting charged for; my daughters last costume was only $18 and it's adorable! Now I have 2 overpriced dresses from this former studio that have never been used and an experience that I continue to regret. I really wish I had done my homework before signing on with Jeans Dance Studio, they are incredibly money hungry and their classes aren't much better than a dancing daycare. read more

We have been coming here for years and we love it. They are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of the children. For example, taking temperatures before entering, sanitizing hands before and after class, no parents in waiting room, maintaining social distance in class and teachers wearing masks. One night they had a trivia game on zoom so the kids were able to interact with one another. Jeans Dance Studio is doing a wonderful and safe job during these stressful times. read more

My family has been dancing at JEAN'S since 2016. I have two dancers and I started taking adult tap here too. One of the reasons I love this studio is the positive experience my kids have. The instructors are KIND and excellent dancers themselves. The focus on technique is age appropriate and the focus on confidence and self esteem also means a lot to me. Too often in dance I've seen kids become focused on their looks/weight/winning. I did not want that for my girls and Jean's provides a very positive climate for my kids to learn to love dance. I feel the cost is comparable to other dance studios and the costumes are age appropriate and low to average price for dance costumes (which can run big $$$$). If you're looking for a family friendly dance studio for your kids to dance their hearts out this is the place. If you want to take your kids to competitions every weekend and be a dance mom Jean's may not meet your needs (though...they do have an award winning competition team!). Here is a copy of the protocols they are following for COVID 19 that they sent to each family and post at the studio. I've seen all the staff following these, though some of the parents could do a better job as we shouldn't need reminding to follow the rules. "Prior to entering the studio, dancers will wait outside on designated markings with a mask on. A staff member, who will be wearing a mask, will greet dancers at the door, will verify dancer's well being, and bring them into the lobby to take street shoes off. They will then carry their shoes into the dance room and placed in a cubby. Hand sanitizer will be applied prior to entering the dance room. Dancers will bring their dance bag, which also is holding the dancer's water bottle, and yoga mat or towel for certain classes, into the dance room and go to their designated spot to put their dance shoes on. The teacher/assistant will help younger dancers with their shoes if needed. Dancers may remove their mask at this time and put it in their bag. Dance bags will then be put in the same cubby as their street shoes. At this time, dancers will stay spread apart during class. We will refrain from doing partnering and lifts. When class is over, dancers will change back into their street shoes, and receive hand sanitizer on their way out the back door. Hand washing is always available during and after class. When you pick up your dancer, please be punctual and ready to receive your dancer at the back door. We cannot release the dancer unless you are present at the door. This is for safety reasons. We will be stopping 5 minutes early to allow for sanitizing. We are prepared to hold class outside the studio if required. We have purchased boards for dancers to dance on; cones to designate dance space; and markers to close off through traffic area for safety. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION *The water cooler will be unavailable at this time. Please have your dancer bring a water bottle. The studio will sell water bottles for $1 if needed. Small bottles are 50 cents. *The waiting room will not be open until further notice, with the following exception. One parent/guardian of 3-4 year old dancers, who must be wearing a mask and had their temperature taken, will be allowed to briefly check on their dancer from the waiting room window. This will be done on a rotating system controlled by the office staff. If there is an issue, the office staff will contact the parent. Parents may bring their own chair and sit outside or remain in their car. *Since the bathroom is located inside the dance room, it will be only be available to dancers. It will be unavailable to parents or siblings until further notice. *Tuition will be collected at office window or table outside once dancers have entered the dance room. We will help one parent at a time. STAFF EXPECTATIONS Will be healthy according to the CDC guidelines Will wear masks if they are within 6 feet of a dancer Will ensure the safety and well being of each dancer while in class Will disinfect and sterilize the studio thoroughly at the end of each day." read more

Love love the studio I'm so happy they are open. They are doing all COVID requirements by having the children wear masks being 6ft away from each other,getting their temperature taken hand sanitizer. On their way out they get more sanitizer .They clean the studio before each class and after each class. My daughter is so happy when she is dancing. My daughter recently attended the tap and ballet combo class, She was so excited. We were welcomed by the owner who is extremely friendly that did both the health screening and temperature check. Jean's Dance Studio's teachers are awesome! Not only do they build self-esteem and confidence in their students, they also welcome you as part of their close and ever-growing family. My daughter, Jayme, has been attending classes there for three plus years and each teacher has been an inspiration to her, but most of all, her current dance instructor, Heather. My daughter and son have been going here for years and they love it. The teachers are so kind and really care about the kids. The kids have had lots of opportunities to dance on stage (pre-covid) which has been wonderful for their confidence and development.
