Salthouse Harbour Hotel - Salthouse Front Facing Room

The Salthouse feels like a lovely little boutique hotel, although it's actually fairly sizeable…read more My room unfortunately wasn't overlooking the harbour, so I had a delightful car park view instead. I didn't mind though as I was just going to be in and out. According to my colleagues, a room with a harbour view is definitely worth asking for. My room was very stylish I thought. Unique things that I hadn't seen anywhere else like mosiac style feature wallpaper in a dramatic blue and black pattern, and just nice little touches like a retro style telephone and dotty mugs, and a big rustic wooden bench/desk. There is nothing corporate about this place at all, it is very nicely done. The bathroom was great too - a seperate shower cubicle with an overhead and side on shower, and a big double bath tub - I had a fantastic soak before heading out for the evening. The room had its own temperature control, and the bed was very comfortable - I felt like I was being enveloped in a gigantic soft marshmallow. I can't comment much more than that, as I didn't have dinner or breakfast there, and didn't use the bar. I'd like to come back to the Salthouse though - when away from home through work, staying here feels like a real treat.

Very charming design hotel overlooking the Ipswich harbor…read more Rooms are very comfy and decorated with taste and in a sailor kind of atmosphere. A little walk from the center but since be city is not big and the walk is nice (along the harbor) it is no problem. Good breakfast in the morning too. Dont Forget to ask for a room with a view on the harbor. Nothing says "good morning " better than the seagulls waking you up and the view on the boats. With a room in a corner of the building the view gets even wider :) They have a free parking so let your car there and enjoy an healthy walk. Will stay there no doubt if I ever go back to city.

Always pleased to be at Milsoms and so was delighted to have my birthday dinner there with friends…read more We arrived around 7pm and had no difficulty getting a table straight away indoors but it was tempting to sit outside due to the good weather. Lovely food, super service and a great atmosphere. We've been several times so are quite used to writing down our own order and don't think twice about it now - it makes it more relaxed and informal in my opinion. We didn't have room after two courses for a pudding but I was delighted to receive a 'happy birthday' plate with complimentary dark chocolate brownie complete with lit candle! Yum! I've also published this review on Trip Advisor, hope that's OK.

Beautiful setting - gets one of the stars just for that!…read more Needs a bit of a make over though, as it's had the same decor in the restaurant since it opened! They've surely got the cash to make it sparkle a bit more? Food has been a bit hit and miss over the last few times we've been - sometimes it's outstanding, sometimes it's VERY average - the price is always on the higher side though! Food is always very fresh and beautifully presented. I always find that there are loads, and loads of dishes on the menu but actually very few that I fancy. Some of them have so many ingredients & then they always end up having mushrooms or fennel that I can't eat! I'm really NOT a fussy eater!! The desserts are generally more appealing. Good wine list but always on the pricey side & v expensive to drink wine by the glass. Great to be able to see the kitchen and the food being prepped. Pretty good service usually. Still an absolute pain in the bum trying to get a table on a Saturday night - we don't even bother trying any more, wish they took bookings as it's frustrating when you've got guests & want to take them to such a lovely setting - we tend to go to Seckford or The Crown, instead. On the whole, "nice" and a popular place with good atmosphere.

I've…read morebeen many times and always had an enjoyable experience, a real example of how to do 'pub with food & rooms' Dining room is excellent, great lighting, layout and atmosphere. I've stayed in the rooms and cool, fresh and 'sea side' in a modern way, recommended, especially the sea views. The bar is buzzy, warm and inviting, doesn't detract from the dining room but adds to the overall atmosphere. Of course, in the summer, the terrace is the place to be with wonderful, uninterrupted views of the sea. Took a trip up on my return to the UK and wasn't disappointed this evening, a changed menu but some excellent additions (although damn it, I miss the cheese straws and pigs'n'blankets as starters..) Shared baked halloumi, on a bed of of artichokes and chestnuts for starters. We both decided to go for the wonderful air cured gammon steaks with chargrilled pineapple and a selection of delectable side dishes - the gammon was really outstanding, been a long time since I've eaten gammon and this was terrific. Finished with apple crumble and custard for me, and a modern twist on Black Forest gateaux for her...both really rich, and delightful ways to end a lovely meal. I do hope some more customers rate Fludyers higher than it currently is...it's worth it!

Located on the sea front in old Felixstowe it boasts amazing views from its front conservatory with large windows. And being slightly further away from town you will find that it's not as rammed as the other sea front pubs. The menu is good and the specials are frequently changing meaning there is always something new to get your teeth around. The pub is separated into two areas, one with is very 'pub like' with a pool table, creaky wooden chairs and blackboards and the other is slightly newer with netting on the ceiling to give it that 'fisherman's' feel. Highly underrated pub that serves all day and if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the high street, take a walk to old Felixstowe and stop in for a bite.

The Case - Tea and biscuits!

There is something spectacular in knowing that people still live in places where a neighbour, or…read morefriend of a friend, can be called on for a favour. That was "The Case" at "The Case." Ha ha. I make myself laugh. But really, in the villages of England, places are few and far between, and during the holidays even more so. We're talking the old world where sometimes places are still closed on Sundays and heaven forbid you should want a hairdressers on a holiday Monday! Not like the States, that's for sure. The Brit and I stayed here one Christmas in 2009, and the owner made sure we had a lovely stay as a favour to The Brit's Dad. Typically she wouldn't have gone to all the trouble of giving us breakfast and tea and biscuits to have in the morning and such, but they did for us. The hotel is lovely and the restaurant a great place for a good meal. There is a little seating area for you to wait to be seated where the owner will happily greet you and take your drink order. The drinks were a bit slow coming, but we had time to waste. Things go slower in the UK don't they. Kick back and enjoy your libations my friend! I think the owner was quite proud to have us sit in the seating area before we sat down for our meal, as that seemed her focus despite a predominantly empty restaurant only due to the time of year. I enjoyed a proper English Christmas dinner even though we were going to have another one in a day's time (I love parsnips!) and The Brit had a tasty steak. It takes some time, but it was yummy! The morning after Christmas we were the only ones it seemed in the hotel. Our biscuits were really tasty, but the tea not as good. Breakfast was a proper English and perfectly prepared. I loved our room and found it nicely styled and decorated. If I remember correctly, each room is named a different colour, or at least styled in a different colour. We had purple. It really was a nice place and felt luxurious. The price was great and I would definitely stay here again if ever in the area and in need.

When London wants to show off, this is a good idea of how to do it!…read more Le Maison Talbooth recently hosted my neice's Wedding Breakfast, and they blew the doors off. First, I have to commend them on their service. For starters, we showed up an hour early. Champagne flowed, there was a smile on every face, and the staff were clearly experts in handling our arrival! Hors d'ouvrés flowed quickly after and they were delicious! The oysters were fresh and plump and wonderful, and couldn't have been better! Once we sat, the options for dinner were unbelievable! I couldn't decide which I liked the best... the beetroot marinated salmon, the seared scallops, or the Fig & Goat cheese tart! I might lean toward the tart! The Seabass entree was so delicate, and the prawn ravioli was such a splended touch! However, the star was clearly the beef wellington (see the pics) and the presentation could stop ANY show! This is how you create envy on social media! Death by chocolate with honeycomb, a cheesecake option, or an apple and blackberry tart with creme anglaise finished off our evening! If you are looking for a wonderful meal, with exquisite service, this is what you are looking for! 5 STARS, easily
