I have had a few appointments already, and my opinion has not changed. Rebecca, the front desk receptionist who assisted me, deserves praise and recognition. She made me feel very welcome on my first day. She was cheerful and made me feel important as a new patient. They also gifted me a "Welcome!" goodie bag!!! How nice is that?? Priscilla is the dental hygienist who has assisted me a few times now. She is very polite, knowledgeable, and patient. I can tell by all of the happy employees that this is a healthy work environment. I have had the opportunity to see both Dr. Gerald Shinkawa and Dr. Nichole Shinkawa. My first visit was today and the reviews and ratings provided accurate! The office is bright and cheerful decorated in blue, white and yellow. I was greeted upon entering the office and was introduced to all members at the front desk. I was given what was basically a pricing sheet for services the office provided as they relate to my particular insurance. I appreciated this to circumvent any questions or surprises. The dental assistant called my name, introduced herself, and provided an introduction to the practice itself. She showcased the accreditation of all three doctors (also father , son and daughter) as well as a photo walking the family. There was a little welcome gift bag in my exam chair with some small person hygiene items. The dental assistant took the time to ask about me and made me feel valued. The cleaning and exam was done by the patriarch of the practice. His mannerism and knowledge is precise and comfy at the same time. It was a great experience and happy to say that this is an an example of a door opening when another has shut.

He just turned one a few months ago and this was his first dental appointment. Per usual I got a text message reminding me to schedule an appointment for my daughter. I called the office and scheduled an appointment for her and asked if I can include my son. They took his info down and scheduled an appointment same day and time for both kids. When we arrived we were greeted at the front and I signed some forms and we sat down in the waiting area. No more than 10mins later they called us back. They took dental X-rays for my daughter and they both had 2 chairs side by side ready and cleaned. The RDA were all so nice and gentle with my kids and gave my toddler an option to choose what type of polish flavor. Once Dr.Davis got around to seeing us he was professional, kind, knowledgeable, he's great with the kids and he still sings lol He took the time to explain and gave all the rational behind his recommendations. They had balloons today! My kids made it to the No Cavities Wall. This where they can write their name on a paper they provide and stick it on the wall. They also give tokens so that the kids can get a prize at the end. When we got to the prizes my daughter usually gets a ball but today they didn't have any and she said it out loud and one of the staff members heard and came to us with 3 of them in his hand and offered it to her. Such a kind and generous gesture. We were in and out of our appointment all within 20mins!!! I truly enjoy taking my kids here. Staff is friendly, they do an amazing job with the kids. Dr.Davis is wonderful! Love that they work fast too, as a mother of two who takes my kids to their appointments alone it's always nice to be in and out because managing 2 kids alone can be a bit much. I told them my 4yr old is autistic and will say yes to anything - so asking her questions is not helpful. And my 5 yr old non autistic child is a bit sensitive and that asking her questions is just overwhelming when she's already crying. Long story short - Dr asks my autistic child a million and two question during her treatments, gives her directions to use hands (1 finger it hurts, 2 it hurts more, pinky water, etc etc) whil music is is sooo loud that you can't hear yourself think. What was the point of the consultation if you aren't going to read your notes for following visits. Which I could see those notes where I sit. Dr then proceeds to tell my older daughter (5)during her part treatment that she's ruining everything because she's crying. And asks if she's has been diagnosed with anything. Really? Because she's crying, she must be mentally delayed? Another review had a similar experience which is sad. Also, she asks if she's cried like this during a haircut since it's not normal... really? This dental visit is equivalent to a haircut? That's wild. She lacks empathy, she overwhelming, and just rude for a pediatric dentist. Will not be returning.
