I needed to find a new dentist as mine dropped my insurance. I did my research and found rave reviews for Shinkawa Dental. My first visit was today and the reviews and ratings provided accurate! The office is bright and cheerful decorated in blue, white and yellow. I was greeted upon entering the office and was introduced to all members at the front desk. I was given what was basically a pricing sheet for services the office provided as they relate to my particular insurance. I appreciated this to circumvent any questions or surprises. The dental assistant called my name, introduced herself, and provided an introduction to the practice itself. She showcased the accreditation of all three doctors (also father , son and daughter) as well as a photo walking the family. There was a little welcome gift bag in my exam chair with some small person hygiene items. The dental assistant took the time to ask about me and made me feel valued. The cleaning and exam was done by the patriarch of the practice. His mannerism and knowledge is precise and comfy at the same time. I haven't been to the dentist in 15 years due to lack of insurance. The package I bought was perfect to get started!! I was in an urgent situation, and needed an extraction. They worked me in as a first time client and Dr Shinkawa was so amazing! He eased all my fears and took great care of me. The office staff and hygienists were all so wonderful. I would recommend Shinkawa Dental to everyone. Not having insurance isn't an issue as you can get started with an exam and X-rays for for the year for under $300. Future work gets a discount. Very thorough and the Dentist actually clean your teeth. They are very informative by letting you know what's going on with all concerns. They measure each tooth gum space each time. I went for dental visit needs filling that partially fall and dental evaluation the dentist came to me after the assistant took XRay (and looks like she is new and asked for help multiple times). He reviewed the XRay and decided to extract two tooth, initially he said let us do regular cleaning and monitor but then he changed his decision, I am not satisfied with his decisions, will go to see another DDS. I was looking for a new dental office and came across Shinkawa Dental. The reviews were all positive so I decided to give it a try. I was in need of a cleaning and check up. The process of scheduling the appointment was quite easy. The staff were friendly during my visit. Their text reminders were very helpful and filling out forms was a breeze. During my visit, I got a cleaning. The cleaning was done by the dentist, which I didn't think too much of but did note. In the past, dentists have not done the cleaning. It's usually done by a dental hygienist. The cleaning took no longer than 15 minutes. It was the briefest cleaning I have ever had. It was not thorough at all. Next, the dentist reviewed what needed to be done. Some of the work she recommended included two crowns. When I asked the front desk how much the crowns were, she let me know that my insurance would cover it. I shared that I wanted to know the actual cost because my insurance only gave a certain allowance and I wanted to calculate what I eventually would have to pay for all the work they were recommending. She continued to say that we would know once the insurance approved. Maybe we misunderstood each other but there just seemed to be a lack of transparency with the cost. The most concerning thing was the cleaning for me. I was looking for a dentist I could trust and frequent. Shinkawa Dental was not that. However, they do have some really cool high tech gadgets to look at your teeth and their office is nice. read more

Updated review!! 10/10!! For service, cleanliness, efficiency and listening to patients concern!! My mom and I had a cleaning scheduled. I notified the office that we are running late and they were very accommodating. Dr. Nicole took care of my mom and I in a timely manner and we did not have to wait at all. I had a bunch of problem areas this time when going for my check up and cleaning and she was able to address a lot of my concerns and reassure me that the next appointment my problem areas will be taken care of. The office staff and Dr. Nicole were very gentle and kind. I used to dread going to the dentist office, but I am reassured with each visit that I am welcomed and everything will be taken care of. I have been holding off I'm going to the Dennis for years because of traumatic experiences before. I've been one who doesn't like pain or needles which is where most of the phobia came from. Today was my first visit at Shinkawa Dental and it was the most pleasant dental experience I've ever had! From the moment you step into their office to the moment you leave, you are treated with respect and great care. They are a family ran business with father, daughter, and son. During my visit there, I was able to meet all of them. Dr. Nicole was helping me today but her brother and father also stepped in to introduce themselves. I just needed a cleaning today, but since it was my first time there, I also got X-rays done as well. Dr. Nicole took awesome care of my teeth and was very gentle during my cleaning. I was honestly surprised that she was the one who actually did the cleaning because usually the hygienist takes care of that. She was thorough and answered all of the questions I had. Great front desk staff, friendly hygienist, and amazing dentist's! I've been coming here for almost 2 years and I don't mind driving 30min for my appts. My payment is always explained well and I never receive a random bill for service later on. Procedures are done fast and efficiently and pain free.
