I've been getting my eyebrows microbladed since 2016 which has been a huuuge gamechanger. The girl I used to go to stopped doing them and I last had them touched up in 2019.. fast forward to 2021 and I was due for an update. I cannot say enough nice things about My herself, and My Mai Brows as a business! I found out about My from a friend who recently got into microblading. I quickly followed her on Instagram and it was so obvious how great she is as what she does. All of my initial questions were answered on her website (very detailed and helpful info on there!), and I emailed her a few photos and videos of my current eyebrow state, to which she replied back fairly quickly! I was constantly checking her page to see when her books would open, and I ended up setting an alarm at work to take a break just so I could book my appointment! LOCATION: The location is a very neat and tidy office in San Jose which she shares with her sister who does scalp tattoos! There is even a private parking lot just for MicroHair Studios clients, which was really convenient. I didn't realize that at first and parked on the street, but that was just as easy because it is near a residential street. PRICE: Her info is on her website, the price includes the complimentary touch up, and it is more than worth it!!! Cash and Venmo are accepted. RESULTS: My brows have never looked better. She fixed the shape, lifted the tail ends, made them even, and got the color PERFECT. Need I say more? My previous tattoo just barely shows at the tail ends since they were brought down too far initially, but the shape that My perfected for me exceeds all my expectations so much so that I don't even care that the old tattoo shows a bit! The old tattoo will fade soon anyway, plus I can cover it up with concealer for the time being lol. OVERALL: My is one of the most wonderful, friendly, and talented girls I have met to this day. She was so warm and welcoming, and talking to her made me feel like I was talking to an old friend. I can't fully blame the artist bc shes disclosed constantly and keep checking if I was in pain... so the job for microblade was done. Service good. 3 yrs later down the line my brows turned reddish tone. I am going thru a removal process and it's still a process. Had initial microblade in February 2017 and touch-up in April. My brows have stood up to a rigorous summer, wedding, humid, asian honeymoon and the hottest summer on record in the Bay Area. Once they have healed, no one will know you had them done unless you tell them, and then once you do, they will be booking all the remaining appointments. So far one of my coworkers went and a cousin tried to, but was too impatient to get on the waiting list. Pros: -Professional shaping--that lasts -brows indistinguishable from natural brows, full shape, clean lines and not overly done -Let your brows grow wild and comb into place -waterproof/sweatproof/childproof -eliminate 5-10 minutes off your morning routine -price is extremely reasonable for work product/Bay Area -a couple hours microblading/shaping=months/years of amazing brows -Mai leads with confident professionalism, but is ultimately there to give you the brows you want, TRUST -numbing creme works better than expected -healing process quicker than expected (worst part was a couple nights mistakenly rolling onto my eyebrows and not shampooing for the first day to avoid water contact) -Mai pre-schedules touch-ups to ensure existing clients get the aftercare/updates they need since everyone heals differently. Once you book the initial appointment you won't have to compete with new clients like a heathen. I absolutely LOVE my brows, and I imagine life without them. I had my initial session in June 2017, and since I had three touch-ups in July 2017, January 2018, and November 2018. My Mai is the only person I trust with my brows. My is incredibly personable and puts you at ease by explaining everything she is doing. The procedure is pretty painless (less pain than a brow wax) because My has done so much research to find the best numbing creams. She's also a great conversationalist which makes the appointment go by so quickly! She is incredibly detail oriented and never rushes through an appointment. She double and triple checks to make sure that each brow is perfect, and explains aftercare thoroughly. My eyebrows are naturally uneven, and My lifted my right eyebrow up so they both are symmetrical now! I didn't even know that was possible. During: -The first 45 minutes are reserved for consultation. I came in with my eyebrows filled in w/ makeup to give My an idea of how I usually like to wear my brows. She asked me a lot of questions and we settled on the thickness, arch, and type of look we were going for, which she mapped out. -I was extremely nervous about the pain. My reassured me that if we needed to take a break for water or just to ease the pain, it would be completely fine. But after we applied the numbing gel and let it sit, I pretty much felt NO PAIN whatsoever. I would describe it as more of a discomfort than pain. -My plays soothing music while she works to ease your nerves and is super sweet and talkative! The hour went by VERY quickly. This review is over due. But I've been meaning to share this on Yelp since the day I found MyMaiBrows! First of all, what attracted me to her work was how natural her art of microblading was! I've seen so many others in the Bay Area but for some special reason and talent of course, MyMaiBrows work doesn't just look like a bunch of tiny long lines drawn across the brows. I absolutely love my eyebrows from My. I was very nervous for my first microblading session but she made me feel comfortable and was extremely patience. During the consultation, she checked every angle to make sure my eyebrows were even & I was able to FaceTime and send photos to my girlfriends to get their opinion before she started microblading. She even allowed me to turn on Friends on my phone to distract me from the procedure. It definitely helped. Overall, it wasn't too bad and I was very happy that it was over. =P The healing process for my brows went extremely well except for some itchy. The actual microblading didn't take anymore than a painless 15-20 minutes, and wow have my brows completely transformed! My brows are almost unrecognizable now than they were before (in a good way!). I can wake up bare-faced and still have fleeky-natural brows, or get dolled up and finish my brows in a minute by following the shape she created. The touch up appointment was quick and painless as well! My's incredible attention to detail has not failed to save my brows and time. Her price has increased, but don't let that hold you back! My Mai is the gal to see if you are seeking super natural looking brows. If you never said a word about how you got them, no one would know that your brows were microbladed. That's a good thing, but also it's too good not to share the love and tell people (if they ask). My is a perfectionist and pays attention to the details. I love the fact that she is super meticulous, gentle and caring during the whole process. She is an eyebrow enthusiast and I love that! I seriously can't sing her praises enough and am SO glad that I have met My. I also should mention that she did a cover up job on my previously microbladed brows which can be challenging and some artists are not willing to take this on. I feel like such a horrible client as I've been going to My for 3 years, yes I said 3 years! :) and haven't written a proper review, but here is is! The best microblading artist in the game. She makes the experience so easy, fun and most importantly comfortable! I was nervous to get them done at first but My made the experience so easy and seamless that I keep coming back. She's very detailed and a perfectionist at her craft, not to mention she is super sweet! But most importantly throughout the whole process she made it collaborative and makes sure you love the way your eyebrows look before starting the tattooing portion. I just got my annual refresher about a week ago and and couldn't be happier. It literally saves me so much time to have fresh brows so I never have to draw them in! Ive been hunting for a place to do my eyebrows for over a year, my friend recommended me to My. After looking at her Instagram & my friends brows I knew I found the place to go! I love my new eyebrows! I can not tell you how great of a job she did, I literally had no eyebrow hair and I left with the most beautiful eyebrows ever. I can just wake up in the morning and be on the go. She is very friendly, nice, and lets you know what she is doing before she does it. The price was reasonable and the result is amazing. It was not as painful as I thought it would be, for me it was like a 2/10. You get a complementary 4-6 week touch up. She explains the aftercare to you & gives you paper with what she said on it. Very pleased with my new brows!!! My Mai Brows is the best for the whole package from the appointment, the process, the result, to the touchup. My Mai is a true artist. She wants to bring out the best brows for everyone, not just business only. I had an appt for the touchup, however, I had the pimple at the corner of my brow. I would highly recommend My for your eyebrow needs! Though mine are still healing, I'm loving the results so far! (will post a pic of the final product). I don't usually draw my brows so I came in with several pictures from the web. However, My was able to instantly draw up something that looked so natural. I never had an arch before and now I do, which is pretty exciting if you've ever been in that situation, haha. The procedure was somewhat painful at times, but TRUST ME, it's VERY temporary and My did an amazing job at checking in and giving me needed breaks. But you are numbed and pain tolerance is different for everyone. The process was quick and so worth it. Plus, she's such a great conversationalist that the 2 hours just fly by. I love her personality and her genuine enthusiasm for the work-you can tell she's just as invested in your brows as you are.
