I have been going to Doctor Perl for years, and he is not only the most attentive, thorough, and available veterinarian, he is also kind-hearted and takes as much time as he feels necessary to dedicate himself to the health care of your little ones. Unlike every other veterinarian, he does not view his amazing service as only a business. I was helping a homeless man and his dog, and she was vomiting nonstop, and I called Doctor Perl, and he drove over to my condominium and gave the dog a shot for nausea, and there was NO CHARGE! There is no other veterinarian who would do that! It's not about the money because if you're anything like me, you're 4-legged son or daughter is your child, and Dr. Perl gets it, and he doesn't overcharge because he comes to you, which by the way is something no other veterinarian does, but I would pay any amount of money to keep my girl healthy! I reached out to Dr. Perl as it had been several years since a vet had checked out our 14-year-old cat, Buddy. (The last time we went, this usually sweet and affectionate boy just lost it. So much so, the vet stopped the exam that had hardly begun, and told us to take him home. We got fired.) I thought having a home-based visit was the way to go. And it was! Dr. Perl was straightforward, professional, and asked us good questions and vice versa. The exam was thorough, vaccines administered, and blood was drawn. Except for the latter, which required a bit of med support, our cat didn't stress at all at Dr. Perl's hands. The cost was likely less than a traditional office-based visit with equivalent services. Dr. Perl was terrific with my little Havanese, ten pounds, who is deathly afraid of vet offices, but exceedingly friendly outside the vet office environment. Dr. Perl got on the floor to greet my pet, allowed him to lick his face, and then gently proceeded with the exam. The procedure, with anesthesia, would have cost well over a thousand dollars, I was told. But Dr. Perl did the trick in minutes with no pain, and no anesthesia and far, far less. I was looking for a vet this weekend for in home euthanasia for my sweet cat and I ended up calling 2 vets, one of which was Dr. Perl. I liked and trusted Dr Perl until he arrived and examined my dog who was extremely ill. Instead of recommending helping to get him to the hospital-he took his temperature, which was ,"94", changed his medication, and told me he was at a stage where he probably needed a ventilator and a pacemaker. my dog died 10 minutes after he left. I called him to let him know he and he made sure he rushed to the bank with my check. so much for compassionate care. read more

I have known Dr. Perl for a long time. With COVID around, he came last year to put my cat to sleep, then one of my dogs. I will always be grateful about it. DISCLAIMER - Dr. Perl, Sol, is my neighbor and my friend. HOWEVER, he was also the veterinarian for my beloved Westie whose suffering he ended this week. I am a Pharmacist by training and have some ability to judge medical practice. On that basis, I can confidently say that Sol's medical knowledge, judgment and practice is amongst the BEST I have ever seen. He helped give my furry friend a long, healthy, life. When something was wrong, Sol KNEW either what to do and how to do it to remedy the situation or he referred us to a wonderful surgeon who did! He also knew when it was nothing of concern requiring NO treatment. Sol cared for my furry friend for the 13 years that we had him. He had been a rescue and was two years old when we adopted him. Sol did so with COMPASSION, with love for animals, with gentleness and affection and with honesty and straight talk with us. At the end, when it was obvious that my Westie was dying and suffering, Sol first examined him to see if it was something that could be remedied. It was not. Sol gently explained his process and so very gently ended our Westie's suffering (6 weeks short of age 15) with tremendous compassion both for the dog and for us - and, to be sure, my wife and I needed every bit of his compassion. Over the years, Sol NEVER tried to sell us anything that was not truly needed. When our Westie started showing his advanced age, Sol did mention a few potential treatments but honestly explained the lack of evidence of efficacy. He explained that they might or might not help; might or might not be worth the expense. He NEVER pushed anything for his own profit. Sol's practice is unusual in that he does NOT have an office. While this can be very convenient for his patients: they can be seen in their homes where they feel safe and are comfortable; and for the pet's owners since they do not need to bring their furry friends anywhere, it can be inconvenient because Sol has no assistants. YOU, the pet's human friend, may be needed to assist. It also means that Sol does not have facilities with him such as x-ray. BUT, his results speak for themselves without these things! While I am sitting here crying as I write this, I can highly recommend Dr. Perl to anyone with a beloved furry friend in need of a top notch veterinarian! read more

I cannot say enough kind words about Dr. Perl. He answered my call, listened to what was going on and came through very quickly for us. My dog is a senior and working with our regular vet was proving to be difficult for an urgent and sensitive need, especially during Covid where you can't be with your pet to offer needed comfort at a scary time in a cold office. I would never, ever let this man treat my dog. I called him once for an appointment and he called me back the next day. It was early in the morning and the vet (Dr Perl) was absolutely bombed. He was obviously trying to return phone calls in spite of his inebriated state, and couldn't hold a conversation with me - let alone answer questions about my pet. At one point he stopped, sat silent for almost a full minute, and then asked, 'Why did you call?' This was SEVERAL minutes into the conversation, and HE called me! I don't normally write scathing reviews, but this Dr. was atrocious, and I'd hate for him to show up drunk at someone's home and give their pet the wrong drugs or something. Perhaps he's great sober. I sure hope so. But I'm not taking any chances. read more

Miracle worker! Our dog began limping last Sunday and as of Monday refused to move. We were incredibly anxious to get him some care, but unfortunately he got very testy due to the pain and wouldn't let us move him. I called Dr. Perl that Monday morning and he was able to come later the same day. He found the problem within minutes and had our dog up and walking again in no time! What really got me was that our testy little friend actually gave Dr. Perl a "thank you lick", which for a dog who usually needs sedatives to go the vet, is nothing short of a miracle. read more

We are so happy we found Dr. Perl! We adopted 2 kittens a few months ago and have been procrastinating on getting them neutered and vaccinated. The whole deal of transporting them to a vet and back (they get car sick and panicky) just wasn't something we were looking forward to. We finally made the call to Dr. Perl and after being quoted two thirds less than the other vets that we called, made an appointment with him that Saturday morning (another bonus). I had assumed that the cats would be transported by him to be neutered, but nope! Right in our own home (I think this is only done with male cats since the procedure is so simple, but call and find out)! At first, I was pretty unsettled, but when I realized how much less stressed and anxious the kittens were, there was no question! The doctor gave them the shot to put them out, did his thing and handed me sleepy kitties to lay down on a comfy blanket while they came to, right at home. The prep, procedure, shots, paperwork and all, took less than an hour and I didn't even have to change out of my house slippers. I don't know about you, but I'm a huge fan of efficiency! Dr. Perl left us to see about a dog around the corner, and people were leaving notes on his van, asking him to swing by to see their pets! I like Dr. Perl. He has helped me avoid unnecessary expenses. He told me what I could pick up at a regular pharmacy over-the-counter that would work just as fine as something I had been buying at a veterinary hospital. His prescriptions can be used with online veterinary pharmacies that will ship the product to you. Dr. Perl is convenient. I do not like driving. So far, he has always been prompt. If I could talk to my dogs, I think they would tell me that they like home visits more than visits to an office. At times, my little dogs can get really distressed when in the proximity of other dogs. read more

Dr. Sol Perl is a caring, wonderful vet who puts his heart into every visit. I rarely have to wait for a call back and a visit - he is tireless, and has always managed to fit us in quickly. For my vet-averse dogs, it's so convenient, and they get checkups, rabies shots, and care in their own home. Dr. Perl is a sweetheart with even the most crotchety or nervous pets, and they love him (well, as much as any twitchy pups love the vet!!) You will love Dr. Sol Perl. On a side note, Dr. Perl is also able to euthanize pets. I know, hard topic -- who wants to talk about that? But when it's that awful time to say goodbye to your beloved pet who is sick and in pain, I know for me, the last place in the world I want to happen is on some steel table in a vet's office. I want my pet at home, where they are happiest. Dr. Perl is so sensitive and will come to your house to handle it gently and sensitively with you. He loves his pets and yours like you. He's fast, affordable, good quality care, convenient, and loves your dogs and cats. And he makes HOUSE CALLS?! What more could you ask? I highly recommend him! read more

I will only use him. Been so kind to my pets for years now. All are healthy and I just think it is because he is not the type to say medication and surgery all the time. He is a super guy. Before him we went to really expensive vets because we thought we would get better service if we paid more. But instead we never saw the same vet ever. Here you get Dr. Perl who is great with animals and their humans. Once he came out on a Sunday early morning to put one dog down a year back. He cancelled all his plans for us. So when we finally adopted our first dog, we called Dr. Perl to examine her and advise us regarding care. He was super kind to my two, ADHD kids, and made the visit a family event. We love Dr. Perl! He has come to our house and helped us with our aging dog Buddy, when I called scared with an illness (vertigo) he called me back right away and told me what to do. That gave us another couple months with Buddy. He then needed to come asap early one morning when it was time to put him down he was 18 and had lost the use of his back legs and had cancer. Dr Perl came right out and was so compassionate and helpful during this terribly sad time in our lives. He explained everything thoroughly, what he was going to do and what we should expect. I had a friend recommend Dr Perl and his mobile vet service. My regular vet recommended that I have a sebaceous cyst removed at the cost of $1000 from my young dog. The cost included a biopsy (totally unnecessary). I called Dr Perl, he arrived on time, was courteous and very good with my dog, he quoted half of the cost that my vet charged. He expressed the material in the cyst showed me how to do it and recommended against surgery, said surgery is hard on a dog and the cyst is purely a cosmetic issue. My dog is a hyper breed and it is miserable taking her to the vet office, she's figured out the vet office is someplace that bad things happen, so she barks, shakes and is a painful experience for both of us. Dr. Perl has been our vet for YEARS (20+), and we absolutely love him!!! He's always there whenever we need him and takes excellent care of our pets. Our now adult daughters use him for their dogs. We recently needed to put our older dog to sleep. Dr. Perl was so wonderful and compassionate through the whole thing. He truly cares about the pets that he serves, and he cares about their families. I found Dr. Perl on yelp and he is a wonderful, competent and compassionate man. My dog of over 15 years had a degenerative neuropathic disease that finally took away her ability to walk. Just the fact that he came to my house for this very difficult action makes it so much less stressful not only for me, but especially for my dog. I will always be grateful to Dr. Perl, who just guided us through the brief, acute illness and death of our beloved dog. Going to a vet's office had always an ordeal for our dog -- he was terrified and responded with fear and aggression -- but because he was consistently healthy it wasn't that much of a burden and we went in for annual checkups or occasional minor issues. Then suddenly, at age 16, our dog became very seriously ill. He was old and uncomfortable and we wanted to avoid the trauma of trips to the vet's office that terrified him. Dr. Perl allowed us to avoid that ordeal. He came to the house, evaluated the situation and made frequent visits that helped us keep our dog comfortable until he died.
