We are known in this neighborhood as "The Dog House." (If you live near Dr Meher's office, you know…read morewho we are!) We have six dogs: Four Dachshunds, one Min Pin, and one Basset Hound. We are also in rescue, and foster (and sometimes rehabilitate) dogs as needed. We purchased this house from my husband's parents, who also were in rescue, and had a lot of dogs. It is an absolute blessing to have Dr Meher's office two doors down. When we lived in an apartment in Columbia for a year, while we were in the process of buying the house in Cloverly, we still drove all the way back to Dr Meher for our dogs, because his practice was the one my husband's family had been using and trusting for decades, and we still do. Dr Meher's office has always been clean and tidy, and ready for visitors. Whether we're the first appointment of the day, or the last, it's always spot-on for company. Dr Meher and his wonderful secretary have been there for us, at a moment's notice, whether it's time for yearly shots and checkups, or one of our dogs has something come up unexpectedly. Though one of our dogs is generally afraid of all strangers, Dr Meher and his secretary do their utmost best to make sure that she is as comfortable as possible. Having Dachshunds, it is a blessing to have Dr Meher so close. When they have occasional back spasms, the therapy he prescribes for him is amazingly effective, and they're always checking in to make sure that our dogs are doing better as scheduled. They're extremely knowledgeable when it comes to breed-specific health concerns and treatments, which is absolutely fantastic. Same-day appointments are the norm rather than the exception, and they are as thorough as can be when it comes to making sure that our dogs leave in excellent health. Their wonderful service also allows us to be a benefit to friends, as well. When our friends need a dogsitter, they feel so great knowing that, should something happen, our vet is wonderful, and only two doors down. They see the excellent health that our dogs are in (even our two 14-year-olds!), and have no concerns about their own dogs seeing Dr Meher, should something happen. And with all of their wonderful service, they remain blessedly affordable, which enables us to help more dogs! Truly, without Cloverly Animal Clinic, we would not be able to have the dog pack that we do, to offer rehabilitation and fostering to other animals, and provide the best home care we can for the dogs we help. We could not ask for a better veterinarian!

I followed my excellent independent vet to this practice a couple of years ago and he had since…read moreretired. What I noticed was a proliferation of emails encouraging me to buy things from this practice, but not an improvement in the medical care my pets have received. In particular, my diabetic cat has twice had two hypoglycemic events that almost killed him based on the dosing of insulin recommended by the vets at this clinic. I got better advice from a FB Feline Diabetes support group. The last time this happened in August of 2026, it took days for anyone to get back to me and it was a largely unhelpful email. Next, I called the clinic after my other cat started drooling blood. They suggested taking him to emergency, who didn't have a veterinarian who could handle what I thought was a dental issue. When I was finally able to get an appointment, the vet said it was an abscess. Then he wanted to do bloodwork in case he had a thyroid issue and in case I wanted dental work, which my cat was in no shape for--his face was swollen. They gave me a five-day series of an antibiotic, which they said he needed to be on for two weeks--which left me trying to get a refill. They dragged their feet approving the refill ($58 from them, $9.65 from Chewy). I was very upset because my cat went for two days without medication. I called later in the week. My cat was now drooling blood with tissue in it and they asked if he was in pain. I asked why they hadn't addressed that when I first brought him in and they said they thought it would get better as the "infection" cleared. When I picked up the second round of meds, I let them know how unhappy I was and that I no longer trusted their expertise. I went to another vet for my cat's alleged oral issue only to find out it is a likely terminal bony lesion--how the vet failed to do an X-ray and sent my cat home with way less medication he needed, no pain control, and no follow up is remarkable. Fairland is now owned by a private equity firm so the agenda is not pet care--it is profit. You cannot get a same day or emergency appointment from this clinic. The phone is answered by an AI named Benny who can't tell he difference between one medication or another. They market the hell out of you to buy expensive food and flea control, but gouge you on medications you really need while dragging their feet approving the same medication where you could purchase it cheaper. They do not care if they incorrectly diagnose or incorrectly prescribe--they care about profit. My cats have both suffered from their lack of concern. They will terminate your relationship with them if you give them a bad review. They were really pissed that other clients heard my anger. I'll bet they're wondering if their animals are getting quality care. A vet who can't tell a tumor from a dental issue surely isn't delivering that.

After an appropriate…read moreexamination the vet prescribed a course of action which I followed - she perked up and this occurred within 2 visits - she then had excellent bloodwork. The vet also suggested it may be helpful for her to be shampooed and groomed :This was a blessing as she now feels so immediately so happy. She now has the energy to leap on the bed and snuggle with me while purring endlessly. I have been coming to this facility for years. This is the third cat that they have saved and supported though their senior years. One of my cats had a rare and delicate chronic illness with a low life expectancy and they sustained her through her senior years.. I think it is importance to point out that Norbeck has been serving the Olney Silver Spring Ashton area for generations. It is one of the few existing community single local veterinary providers in the area. The area and the country are now being taken over by impersonal national veterinary chains that are providing corporate medicine. At Norbeck you are not a number - your animal and the owner is part of their local practice.

We brought our beloved dog here when he was incredibly weak, feverish, and could barely walk…read more Despite his obvious condition, the technician wanted to weigh him. The scale wasn't in the room, and they made my poor, sick dog walk a very long distance through other rooms the hall until the doctor--who was very nice--rightfully intervened, said, "Let's not walk this weak dog anymore," and laid him down right there. After two X-rays and bloodwork, it was clear his kidneys and liver were failing, and he was dehydrated. It was time to say goodbye.Unfortunately, the compassion shown by the doctor did not carry over into how the technicians handled the initial euthanasia process. The doctor was not in the room when it started. Instead, two young female technicians propped my dog up vertically to try and insert a large needle into the top of his leg. When that failed, they began shaving his other legs to try again. I asked why it would work on the other legs when it failed on the first, especially given how dehydrated he was. I will never forget the pitiful, painful look on my dog's face as he gazed up at me while they repeatedly tried to push that large needle into his vein. I told them we were taking him to the car so he could at least feel like he was going home, as he loved car rides. The staff apologized and said the doctor would come out and use a "butterfly" needle. It turns out the butterfly needle is a tiny, far less painful option. The doctor came out to the car, and while our dog laid calmly in our laps, the doctor expertly inserted the tiny needle so we could hold him as he passed. Why the technicians didn't immediately use the smaller, less painful butterfly needle--or why the doctor wasn't the one guiding the procedure from the very beginning--is beyond me. To top off a highly painful and unnecessarily traumatic situation, the final bill came out to over $700. Charging that much for two X-rays, bloodwork, and a botched, agonizing final moment is completely excessive. While I appreciate the doctor's kindness and quick action in the car, the lack of empathy and competence from the technicians during my dog's final moments left us heartbroken.

My family and I have been going here for years--I mean literally since I was a child with all our family dogs. We continue to go here because of our loyalty to them. My cousin had passed away from cancer and I had totally forgotten to reschedule my appointment for my dog for a routine check up. Instead of paying my late fees for rescheduling an appointment, Dr. Martini waved it for me. It wasn't necessary because I violated their conditions but she was kind enough to understand the emotional hardship I was dealing with at that time. Things to note, if you pay cash/check, you do essentially pay less because they have to charge you for a credit card fee. I docked one star primarily because of the front staff. Not all the employees are friendly. I unfortunately had one bad experience with a woman on the phone who gave me an attitude.
