Liz, who is part owner, told me that the vertical alignment of progressive lenses among other factors has to be accurate in order to get clear vision at all distances. The glasses she fitted for me are such that I'm not even aware that I'm wearing progressives. Thank you to all of the people involved in making these fantastic lenses for me: her optometrist, Dr. Szalkowski, who wrote my prescription, the engineers who designed the lenses, the company that manufactured the lenses, the lab that ground the lenses, and to Liz whose vast experience allowed her to measure me accurately for progressive lenses.

I was totally impressed with the amount of time and care that Dr Jeffrey Calhoun took with my friend. He has the patience of a saint. I was unaware of some of the visual tests he had performed were even available for her. He was polite, honest and soft spoken. He spoke to her, not at her. When she had to speak to the optician, Greg was stellar in his line of work with prisms as well as his mannerisms. Talk about knowing his stuff!!!! From the moment we walked in the door and greeted I had noticed a friendly and clean atmosphere. The wait time was minimal and the time spent on my friend was unmatched by any business I've ever visited. I wish I had known about him years ago. I'm adding my own extra star.

Mom has macular degeneration. Dr. Calhoun had nothing to offer. But what really prompted me to write this review is his total lack of class and empathy for the patient. The poor guy really didn't have much personality and wasn't really a nice guy. But, whatever if he can help. Yes, mom has trouble with her vision and that's why we were in his office. I asked if he felt her vision was going to get worse. Right in front of mom he shrugs his shoulders and says "She can't see anything anyway." Real class "doctor" to say something so crude in front of a lady in her 90s. I hate to contradict his statement, but I took her to a real low vision specialist. This gentleman told me that her retina still has good spots and that the brain looks for them. Well, Dr. Calhoun must have missed that class. So, if your mom needs a low visin specialist, take this guy off your list. He's rude and another doctor proved he really isn't all that good. If you have to go here, see Dr Schwach. I had to see him for a problem I was having & he got me in the same day. He explained everything, was a great guy and very good at helping out and putting me at ease. I would seriously recommend you stay away from Dr. Calhoun. He didn't seem to be that knowledgable and absolutely has no class. He should know better. Also, the office/front desk ladies aren't the most pleasant!!

I really look forward to our visits. Once I was done with Dr. Myers, I was able to get to the main shopping event...GLASSES! The selection here is very well curated and tailored towards their patients needs and current fashion trends. I met with Susan who as usual, knew exactly what looks good on me and led me through the inventory. We discussed high and low bridge and what suits my face-I didn't even know this was a thing. The optometrist was fun and energetic. The assistant who helped out on the floor helped me understand my options and the different things I was billed for with contacts and eyewear and the exam. They had a pretty large selection of glasses but a lot of them strangely seemed the same. That was my only real disappointment ... not finding a pair of glasses I loved. However, I mostly wear contacts so it wasn't a deal-breaker by any means. The only thing that might bother someone if they aren't easily mobile is I did go to a few different rooms for my exam which I had never experienced. I went to a waiting room, another room (and multiple seats) for some things, another room to change my contacts, another room to test my vision ... it was fine for me, but maybe not so much if you can't hop in and out of a seat quickly.

For Christmas, I treated my…read moremom and myself to 50-minute massages and it was such a perfect way to relax and spend time together especially because I had been wanting to try this spa forever, but it was always fully booked. I jumped on it early in December and snagged us appointments for January 3rd. Turns out, it was worth the wait! My massage therapist, Janine, was wonderful and my mom only spoke positively about her massage therapist, Hannah. I always know a massage is good when I fall asleep... and sure enough, I drifted off for a little spa nap. Mission accomplished! I also loved the quiet room and the showers afterward, which really extended the whole relaxation experience. While I've been to spas across the country with much more extravagant amenities, Woodhouse is a fantastic option for Buffalo. I felt it was very clean, calm, and exactly what you want from a quality day spa. My mom and I both left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and very happy we finally made it happen! I'm sure we'll be back next time I am in town!
