For Christmas, I treated my mom and myself to 50-minute massages and it was such a perfect way to relax and spend time together especially because I had been wanting to try this spa forever, but it was always fully booked. I jumped on it early in December and snagged us appointments for January 3rd. Turns out, it was worth the wait! My massage therapist, Janine, was wonderful and my mom only spoke positively about her massage therapist, Hannah. I always know a massage is good when I fall asleep... and sure enough, I drifted off for a little spa nap. Mission accomplished! I also loved the quiet room and the showers afterward, which really extended the whole relaxation experience. While I've been to spas across the country with much more extravagant amenities, Woodhouse is a fantastic option for Buffalo. I felt it was very clean, calm, and exactly what you want from a quality day spa. My mom and I both left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and very happy we finally made it happen! I came here the Friday before Christmas weekend expecting it not to be busy, but surprisingly found it very busy. The relaxation room was full of folks waiting for their spa services. Even with the crowd it was very relaxing and quiet. They had a beautiful fireplace and offered tea and light snacks. Everyone was very nice. My masseuse was great. My fiancée booked us a massage to celebrate us getting engaged the day prior. It was our first time here and we were really hoping for a nice experience considering the price point. The massages themselves were fabulous and both of our massage therapists did a great job, but I do feel the customer service and communication at the front desk could have been much better. They didn't really explain where anything was in the spa and any other spa I've been to gives a quick tour of the entire place, including the locker room, so you know where everything is. We filled out the information forms that they sent us prior to arriving but that seemed useless since they asked us all of the same questions over again (robe size, shoe size etc.). My fiancée was having issues opening his locker after our massages so we rang the bell in the quiet room three different times and waited about 15 minutes for a staff member to assist us. When it became clear no one was coming to help, I decided to get changed and go up to the front desk to ask for help while he continued to wait in the quiet room. Instead of helping with his locker first, she promoted me to pay for the massages which I was really taken aback by. My fiancee had booked the massages for us and had put a card on file. Why would she be asking me for payment and why wouldn't she ask for payment until both of us were at the front desk ready to leave? It may be old fashioned of me, but if a couple is coming in for a celebratory massage, why are you asking the woman for payment? It's similar to a fine dining restaurant... the servers are trained to serve the women first and always place the bill in front of the man regardless of who is paying. I came here based off the high reviews and unfortunately cannot follow suit. I find wood house thinks/pretends to be more upscale and fancy then they actually are. I went for a massage, which was very mediocre. Before the massage even started the dude was trying to push and sell me products. I asked the masseuse to please focus on my back and I got more work done on my legs than anything else. Upon waiting for your massage you are brought to an alleged "quiet" room which is co-ed. I felt a bit uncomfortable being in a robe surrounded by older women. Also, some lady was blabbing on her cell phone super loud with no one asserting the "quiet" room rules. Very minimal amenities for a "spa" before and after the massage. This place definitely needs some substance under all the pretend glam. read more

This was my first time at woodhouse and I was blown away by the service. Even before my appointment they were able to get me in for the mom to be massage (36 weeks pregnant) and I was so happy about that. You walk in and you automatically feel relaxed. The gift shop is filled with skin care, gifts anything you can imagine. I forgot to fill out the form online before coming in since I was a new patient/customer but I filled out a hard copy instead. I was taken back to the ladies room and was given a robe and sandals and shown a locker where to put ny things. The ladies room has showers, bathrooms, and dressing rooms. But they also have things you might need like a hair tie or feminine hygiene product. After I put on my robe and flip flops I went to the quiet room. They had lemon cucumber water (DELISH!) and some snacks. Truly so relaxing. My massage therapist then came and got me and walked me to my the room. I believe her name was Gina. She was great at explaining everything and she spent extra time working on my legs and ankles (as requested) because they are so swollen from being pregnant. The massage was truly relaxing I wish I could've booked a longer appointment! But all and all I felt relaxed and refreshed after which is exactly what I needed. During a time when I REALLY needed to relax (8 months of no sleep with new baby), my husband surprised me with a hydrating manicure here. What. A. Dream. When I first got there, the nail technician I was scheduled with was having car trouble, so I had to reschedule for a time later in the day. Not ideal since it's always a juggle figuring out schedules with two little ones, but what can ya do! When I got there later, I was invited to change into one of their super comfy long robes and flip flops, and relax in "The Quiet Room" while I waited for my appointment to start. The room was calming, smelled like lavender, and so so quiet. A tired mama's dream come true. The tech who did my nails (wish I could remember her name but it's been a while now...) was lovely and funny! She didn't mind at all when I'd occasionally close my eyes for a little. The best part of the manicure experience was the seaweed wrap. It was so warm and felt amazing. My super dry and cracked hands (it was winter time, and I have horrible circulation and dry skin!) came out of that seaweed feeling super soft and repaired. In fact, I think I need to make this at least an annual winter tradition for the sake of my poor skin. The whole experience was really nice. We had a great conversation and her hands were heavenly! I would have liked a little harder on my arms and legs, so I asked to up the pressure and she did :-) I have had LOTS of massages, both at Woodhouse and other LMTs. Then onto the WH Signature Holistic Minkyti facial by Chris. I've never had a facial before outside of a cosmo school so I didn't know what to expect. This facial was absolutely amazing! I'm usually a talker but I kept my mouth shut the whole time and just relaxed!! I didn't know if I should move my face during the facial! I later found out that Chris was from Germany and would have had a blast talking to her as I lived there for a while...Next time I'll ask for pillow support because this was 80 min long and towards the last 20 min my back hurt so bad from laying flat which really effected my ability to enjoy the end of it. Not thier fault I have back issues. So if you have back issues, ask for support, because leaving an 80 min massage to go get a facial and end with my back hurting so bad to take a deep breath.... Just learn from me. Luckily though I was headed to my Spa Lunch- so I was able to rest my back before going for the next thing. This was hands down the worst massage I have had in my life. Felt very sales like. Kept pushing upgrades, there was no pressure at all, i understand I didn't pay for deep tissue but I did expect moderate pressure as discussed. When asked how everything was I was honest and gave my feedback they offered me 15%off and my massage still came to $93. As I didn't love my massage with my last therapist, I went with someone different this time as they were kind enough to offer me a 50% on my next massage here. Ariel was amazing. My husband and I have both been extremely stressed with getting ready to move, so we scheduled massages a week post move as celebration for being unpacked in our new place! Well, we didn't actually finish unpacking... but the massages were still a welcome end to a challenging week. Upon arrival at Woodhouse we were asked to fill out a standard pre-massage questionnaire and given robes and sandals to change into. A very nice surprise was the range of robe sizes--I typically have to choose between squeezing into a too small spa robe and hoping to keep all my interesting parts covered or skipping the robe altogether. It was nice to be able to comfortably take part in the spa robe ritual. The spa itself was very tidy and inviting, both dressing rooms and treatment area. A sign in the massage room said that the rooms are sterilized before each new appointment and it smelled and looked extremely clean. The massage itself was great. The therapist was friendly and competent. She communicated with me throughout and adjusted according to my preferences, and my husband reported the same experience. Post-massages, we were reunited in a spacious relaxation area. There was fruit-infused water and healthy snacks, and we sat and chatted quietly for a few minutes while adjusting to the return to reality. With gratuity it wound up being $350 for the two of us to have 80-minute massages; a little pricier than the more utilitarian medical-type massages I've had elsewhere but the overall spa-type pampering left us feeling like it was a good value. I appreciated very much that she asked if I wanted her not to massage any areas such as my scalp, feet, hands. The scalp massage instantly relaxed me!! 5-stars all the way for Ariel. Although I was her last massage of the day, she massaged as if I were her first client of the day. I will definitely schedule with her again! I do want to mention that I felt "rushed" by the staff following the service. While I was in the dressing room, staff entered the locker area and removed my glass of water I had momentarily sat on the bench while I changed. I stopped into the lounge area hoping to get another glass, but the water dispensers had already been removed. My locker where my clothing and purse were stored during my service had been "unlocked" ~ I assume that is part of the closing routine but it was not appreciated by me to find my personal items unsecured. Next visit I will book an appointment earlier in the day to avoid feeling as if I'm keeping the reception staff from leaving promptly at 7pm. Had a girls day with a hour Swedish massage and an organic facial. There was a Valentine's Day special with 20% any online gift cards! Such a gorgeous, clean, big space. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were able to bring a bottle of champagne which the provided glasses and a bucket with ice. It made us feel special and relaxed while we chilled in the quite room before out services. The massage was nice but I felt that it was rushed a bit and ended a bit sooner than an hour. I went back at the same time as my friend and came back 5 mins earlier than her. That was bit of a bummer. The facial was amazing by Jane! They do mini hand and foot massages during the hour and also aromatherapy. Jane also suggested some great products for me to use, which I did by and have already seen great results! After, you're able to go back to the quite room and relax with some cucumber water and mini healthy snacks. There is also a wonderful rain shower that I used afterwards. The staff were friendly and made me feel comfortable given the fact that it was first time going to a spa. The pedicure was relaxing and they also painted my toes.
