Andrew, Robbie, and Rejla made themselves available well beyond the standard M-F 9-5 and bring a level of attention to detail that I haven't seen with any other contractors. The execution of my renovation in Hell's Kitchen was fantastic, but I also valued the knowledge of both building and City requirements that MyHome has in house. We have now done two renovations with MyHome, first our bathroom 10 years ago and more recently our kitchen and bedroom. The work they do is really top quality. It's on the expensive side, but worth every penny, especially as the prices are guaranteed not to change once the contract is signed. Every phase is very professional -- first the design and materials selection, then the actual project, and then the follow-up with any issues that arise. Amazingly they guarantee their work for 5 years and they have always quickly taken care of any problems that have come up. They are also very pleasant to work with. I will NEVER hire MyHome again. I was told that the project would be completed in 4 - 5 weeks. It took eight. Why? Whole weeks went by when nothing was done and often when I arrived at the apartment unannounced to check on progress I saw the workers just lying around on the floor. The workers smoked and drank in the apartment even though I'd explicitly asked them not to do so on several occasions. The project manager flat out lied to me a number of times. A number of pieces of my furniture were damaged by the workers. Some of the work done was done well - and some of it was not. And all of this for an outrageous price! Never again... read more

The bathroom is beautiful. We are very pleased with the design and with the very professional work. We had a very positive experience with MyHome. As an initial matter, our project was discrete -- convert a 1 BR to a 2BR by adding a partition -- and MyHome was willing to handle it, despite it (i) not being a huge job, yet (ii) being the annoying type of job that requires DOB approval, an architect, building management approval and scheduling, review by the building's architect, etc. So, good vibes, right off the bat. As the process progressed, we added other elements to the project. We worked with Adam on the design. He was great. The pricing was reasonable for NYC. Ultimately, Robbie oversaw the project itself. He and his guys got it done well ahead of schedule, which I understand is quite rare. (We were living in the space during the project, and Robbie was very sensitive to that fact.) The space looks transformed, and fantastic. Robbie was very communicative throughout, and proactively and promptly worked with us on all the twists and turns of a renovation project. read more

I used them about 9 years ago. I would have given them 5 stars but for the designer who was not good and is long gone. The work was on schedule, clean, well priced. They honored their warranty and came back a few times to make corrections. It was my first kitchen renovation and mistakes were made but all in all compared to horror stories I've heard, working with Yoel and his team was a very good experience. MyHome has worked with us over the years on several kitchen and bath projects. We keep coming back to them for their reliability, quality work, fair pricing, and the fact that they obtain all the required permits and management approvals directly without prompting from us. Ben has been our initial point man on planning and design, and he continues to recommend the right materials that fit our needs and come up with good solutions when something doesn't quite fit. Most recently they renovated our small bath with Robbie doing an excellent job as project manager. While we were away during the initial part of the project, his team got the noisy part of the job done, and kept up a steady pace without disturbing us once we returned. After initial delays due to material delivery issues, the job progressed smoothly and on time. We are extremely happy with the finished product. read more

Frustrated and dissatisfied. Too many things overlooked, mis handled or falling through the cracks. We are still in the process of working with this company and have several thousand dollars up front and now we can't cut bait with out losing it all. Their "design" process is terrible and slow. Our consultant Lior is not very sharp. Nor is he terribly responsive. We get the feeling that we may not be big enough fish to merit their full attention. There have been (simple to avoid) communication problems between MyHome and our Building Managment that caused weeks/month delay. And now we have to buy all of our appliances ourselves and store them... I don't know where... until the cabinets arrive because our designer doesn't want to deal with it any more. We've gone round after round of picking materials at their showroom because our designer either wrote down the wrong item number or showed us something they can no longer get. And persistently leaving things we have specifically asked for off the materials list while pressuring us to sign off. When were looking to hire a contractor the pitch we got from MyHome was "we'll take care of everything" but the experience we are having is I'M taking care of everything. We may still cut them loose and eat close to $4,000.00 just to be rid of them. read more

Sad I even have to give a star! My advice RUN! My pictures are worth a thousand + words. It took just shy of a full year for a 400 sq. ft studio apt. Garbage (including food garbage) was left in apartment for over 6 months straight! It smelled like someone died in there and I gained some unwanted "pets". Oh did I mention this was upwards of 45K not including the materials such as Granite, appliances, fixtures, cabinetry etc. I cannot keep this review "PG" so I will not say anything more! read more

RENOVATIONS! are always an ALL CAP experience in NYC. And if you live in a studio apartment with one bathroom, a bathroom renovation could actually ruin your life and eat your soul I dragged my heels. I procrastinated. I saved up. I finally trusted another woman in my building who has a) impeccable taste and b) doesn't settle for second best... and she recommended My Home. From the second I started My Home was great. They didn't charge a design fee. They measured everything for me. They did multiple walk through's. When they saw me making design mistakes, they gently nudged me in another direction and were VERY respectful of my budget. They even submitted all the paperwork to my co-op board. (One hyphenated word for this: AMAZE-BALLS). Demo was done in one day. And they left the toilet plugged in every day except for one (we were using our neighbor's apt, but nothing like using your own toilette in the middle of the night). The worker/s (usually one or two guys) were very nice. My only complaint was that I think one of the guys was smoking in my apartment and I have asthma. (Actually I know... I saw ashes on my floor). I could have complained and I am sure they would have responded but I did not. That is my bad. They left the place clean, albeit a touch dusty and every eensy weensy little scratch or flaw I didn't like, they fixed the following day. I still think RENOVATIONS! in NYC are an ALL CAP experience but My Home took the life ruination and soul eating out of it. And they have shown that in the right hands Renovations can be an addiction. ... now I'm saving up for the kitchen. read more

We came in knowing exactly what we wanted, but he recommended some terrific products and ideas. When we had problems with our coop, he was right there with us. When our job was finally approved he handed us over to Yoel Piotraut whose construction team made our dream kitchen happen in three weeks! MyHome did a great job in my bathroom. They were very professional during the whole process. They came in on the weekend for the first visit and gave me a very detailed estimate for the work I requested. They were very accommodating about every visit after and kept them to a minimum, and worked around my work schedule whenever needed. I worked with Ben in the beginning. He was very communicative. Responded to my emails very fast and was very helpful during the selection process of the materials. Peter was the project manager. Also very good at keeping in touch. All changes that were requested by me were done in a timely fashion. Their estimate was 4-5 weeks, which turned out to be the case. When i wanted to move back into the apt before the project was fully completed, they managed to accommodate me. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone though. It's best to stay out during the whole process. A construction site is to be avoided for living purposes whenever possible. :-) I really love my new bathroom. I will be using MyHome again. Doing a renovation is physically and emotionally exhausting. Having a company that you can trust to do a good job makes this whole process much easier. Highly recommend them. read more

Our project involved renovating a 1-1/2 story home into a full two-story home by raising the second floor walls and adding a cathedral ceiling/roof. After prolonged rain damage to the first floor during construction, the scope of work expanded to include fixing water and mold damage to the first floor living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and library/den. MyHome's President Mayan Metzler took over management of the project after seven months of incompetence from MyHome's Westchester affiliate. Topping a long list of SNAFUs were MyHome Westchester's failure to add structural supports for the new addition and their leaving our house exposed to the elements through a wet summer, fall and winter. During our first "rescue" meetings at MyHome's NYC headquarters, Mayan gave many assurances that damages and code violations would be quickly fixed by competent professionals. Doubts in Mayan, however, began to surface when he postponed telling us for 25 days we were living in a home that had tested positive for hazardous molds. 104 days later, after 27 documented requests, we still could not get MyHome back on the site or agree to sign off on a proposed scope of work. While Mayan was excellent at issuing general calls to action ("Please, let's move forward!"), his true expertise lay in preventing any concrete steps from taking place, especially when such steps carried a cost to his company. Fortunately, we kept meticulous records. (see http://thirdfolio.com/myhome.html) When Mayan ran out of excuses he simply reversed himself: No, MyHome would not reimburse our hotel costs while they propped up our house. No, MyHome would not reimburse our out-of-pocket expenses for materials we purchased on their behalf. No, MyHome would not follow NYC Remediation Guidelines for removing hazardous mold. No, MyHome would not remove the new windows to install code-compliant sheathing. No, MyHome would not provide written specs for review by the Building Inspector or a Professional Engineer. No, MyHome would not replace their General Contractor with a competent one or the contractor of our choice. Despite all their polite rhetoric, MyHome simply wasn't willing to spend the substantial sums of money required to correct their errors. We were under the impression MyHome's commercial general liability insurance would cover such disasters. Apparently this is not the case. We have filed a legal action against them for breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation. Thanks to MyHome, our home is in ruins. read more

During the design phase the designer (Kristiann Colasacco) was very knowledgeable and meeting some very specific requirements (e.g. shower size, lightings). I worked with MyHome after a water pipe burst on the roof of my building and impacted my apartment. They did most of the demo, took down and replaced a fake wall, and replaced my floor and baseboards. I worked with Adam as my designer and Anri as my project manager. Throughout the project, their attention, communication, quality, hard work, efficiency, and just the fact that they all went the extra mile to help me get back into my apartment in even better conditions than I expected made me a fan. Adam even helped me with my insurance adjuster to try to eke out more money. They worked hard and long hours to ensure I got back into my apartment as fast as possible, and actually finished one day EARLIER than their earliest projections so I could get out of my hotel. I knew I wasn't MyHome's typical client. I wasn't remodelling anything and I was money conscious since this wasn't a renovation I had chosen--I was just restoring to what was before the flood incident. But that made me that much more appreciative of the attention they gave me and the way they made my small project feel prioritized. And even after I made my "final payment", they continue to fulfill their 5 year promise and came by promptly to fix up little punch list stuff, and I'm confident will continue to come should I happen to find any more items. I'm thrilled with their work, their work ethic, and their communication. I know this won't be my last apartment in NYC and I wouldn't hesitate to work with MyHome again on a bigger re-model project. read more

And let me add that it wasn't as if we all didn't have our challenges -- our co-op manager is not, shall we say, the easiest person in the world to deal with, and there were numerous delays involving some of the design and materials of our bathroom renovation -- problems that would cross a rabbi's eyes. Well, at the end of the day, everyone at MyHome couldn't have been better -- each of them was patient, conscientious, fun and extremely communicative; they were also very fair on pricing, and the workmanship on our new bathroom speaks for itself. A piece of advice: don't hesitate to tell them what you want and why. You'll find they do want to work with you, and they do actually listen to what you have to say, and, as noted, they face adversity and the myriad stupid nonsense that can crop up with real professionalism and grace. read more

It's been a year since I had my renovations done by Myhome. After scouting around looking for someone I could trust I stumbled upon My Home Renovations. I felt good about the people I was working with (Ben Pitt & Yoel Piotraut) as well as the people who actually did the labor. Ben was invaluable in helping me select tiles, fixtures, paint colors, did a fantastic job with his mechanical drawings that even impressed building management, and Yoel was invaluable as a project manager. They started on time, quoted a four week turn-around, and met their deadline. There were no cost overuns other than the few change orders we discussed throughout the process that naturally added to the cost. When up against a few roadblocks I was promptly contacted and we discussed solutions. I wouldn't look beyond this company for renovations. read more

Very disappointing! The manner of advertising for seasonal sales are deceiving. Mid-October and the patio cushions "show" that they are 50% off when actually it was a very select few. I was not the only customer with this complaint. The checker said that three customers had the same problem that same day. Don't make people believe in your sale if you aren't going to make it clear. I recently did a full apartment renovation (1br, 650 sq ft). I was very nervous when searching for a contractor as my only other renovation experience was a nightmare. I found MyHome on Angie's List. I found that their quote was in line with 3 other quotes I got - but MyHome didn't have any hidden costs. I discovered this when I started comparing quotes and asking question. Ultimately I chose MyHome and I am SO happy I did. They were friendly, professional, very responsive by email, they jumped through a million hoops with my impossible management company, and they did beautiful work. I had a very tight timeline (7 weeks) and they did all they had to do to make it work. They were honest about material costs (ie when they were priced in line with competitors and when they may be higher). They suggested ideas without "upselling" me and were flexible when I made changes. Andrew was a life saver so many times throughout the process and dealt with my anxiety in a very level-headed way. We contracted MyHome (www.myhomeus.com) to renovate our bathrooms. There were significant delays- a 2 month project took nearly 4 months to complete. Their workmanship was inconsistent and often bad. For example, one wall of our shower was re-tiled 3 times. One of the main reasons we chose My Home was their code of ethics and their guarantee. Since the completion of our bathrooms, they have returned on numerous occasions to fix problems, and we continue to consistently have problems that arise due to poor original workmanship. Do not use this Company unless you want to be ripped off! I called their showroom to ask If they could do, just the contracting on a small bathroom without any of their so called Design Plans and not supplying any of the materials for the bathroom. I would buy all the products from my own sources. I was told by the person I spoke to twice, that they could definitely do the job and that a ballpark figure would be between $15,000-$20,000. I said fine and made an appointment to meet their estimator. Keep in mind the bath was only 4'6" wide by 7' long. The estimator came, I gave him all the measurements drawn out exactly for the room so he never even checked anything! I told him everything that had to be done, he contributed nothing! I told him before coming to the job, DO NOT TELL THE CLIENT ANY PRICES, TILL YOU SPEAK TO ME FIRST, over 5 times,as the Client had a budget! I made it Crystal Clear! Despite my repeated requests, he TOTALLY IGNORED MY WISHES and blurted out $100,000. My jaw fell on the floor!!!! I've been in the design business for 35 years and have worked with hundreds of contractors over the years, although I personally don't do the contracting cause I choose not to. My client was mortified and I knew at that moment, that he held me responsible even though this was only one of numerous contractors I had brought to the job. Needless to say, I lost the job despite the fact that I told the client that I totally agreed with him and that the price he quoted was OFF THE WALL! I called up MH and requested to speak with the company's owner, he kept fudging about how he doesn't usually speak to customers. I made it very clear in an angry tone I expected a call!!!! Later I got that call. I found the owner to be as arrogant as his estimator and not particularly concerned that I lost the job because his estimator paid no attention to my wishes and blurted out a price of$100,000. He finally agreed to call the client to try to smooth things out for me. HE LEFT A MESSAGE on his voice mail. All I can say is BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!' read more

I dropped by their NYC showroom to checkout the product line of cabinets. I was pretty much stopped at the door. The store representative, was rude and didn't look interested in making a sale. Within 5 minutes of me walking in the store, he explained that I needed to pay for one their designers, I explained to him that I had plans already drafted and wanted to see their product line. He insisted " that's not the the way it works"' - " I have significant overhead costs" . Then he proceeded to explain that the designer fee would be absorbed if the costs of the cabinets exceeded a certain amount. Instead of showing me the product line he just rambled on an on. He never asked about my project, or my budget. ( it's a gut reno of four story floor Queen Anne Brownstone, which needed two kitchens!) My Home Design lost a HUGE sale! I ended up going to a vendor that sold Siematic cabinets and spending my $$$$ there. No designer fee..( and if there was one, he was smart enough to work it into the price of the cabinets!) MyHome handled everything from start to finish, so I never had to worry about anything. After interviewing 5 companies to handle my client's kitchen and bathroom renovation project, I was quickly impressed by My Home Us. My initial contact was with Ben Pitt for the budget proposal and design phases of the project. Ben was so knowledgeable, the design phase quickly transformed into the project itself, where I worked directly with Matthew Walker the Project Manager for the remodel. Avoid at all costs. After not finishing the job on time, they kept saying they would finish it. But they kept wanting one more meeting to clarify things. And then they wanted more $, even though we had a fixed price contract. Eventually we stopped bugging them to finish and they never called to follow-up. Now, 2 years later, we discovered they never filed the proper permits with the Dept of Buildings, so now we have to go through the process again, and run new plumbing lines, which is costing us an extra fortune. read more
