Now let me talk about the ICE CREAM, because wow. Six people, multiple flavors between us, and not one single complaint -- which if you know my family, is basically a miracle. Everything was rich, creamy, and tasted completely homemade in the best possible way. But the thing that absolutely sent me over the edge? BANANA PUDDING. Multiple banana pudding options. I grew up in the South and I have been low-key grieving the lack of banana pudding culture everywhere else I've lived, and here it is -- in Denver, Colorado -- done absolutely right. LaDay is amazing!!! She makes all her ice cream in house plus several other treats you can buy. I think this place has the best toppings I've ever seen in an ice cream parlor. So glad I checked out this hidden gem on Colorado Blvd! The topping selection was incredible and the ice cream flavors were delicious. Sweet P was extremely friendly and accommodating, and even let us stop in a few minutes after close (as we were running late). The shop is super cute inside and there are board games and plenty of seating. You can order ice cream, different flavors of pickles, milkshakes, dessert nachos, and more. I was on a weekend trip to the Denver area and this place was suggested to me. I figured why not stop by and support this black owned and operated snack spot on a warm summer day, by treating myself to some ice cream. The young lady working was very polite and offered a small sample of some of their most popular offerings including the "Superman", and the "Golden Oreo". The Superman was pretty good it was a raspberry, blueberry flavored treat but I decided to be plain and get the Golden Oreo! It was really good, my biggest regret was not getting a larger size or choosing the milkshake instead so it could last a little longer! My next visit to the Denver area, I WILL BE BACK! What an amazing establishment!! I was lucky enough to be invited to the grand opening of MyKing's Ice Cream! They had a ribbon cutting ceremony, dancers, and so many flavors of ice cream!!! The offer, cups, cones, sugar cones, waffle cones, waffle bowls, shakes, drinks, and other assorted candies and chips. They provided 12 flavors on the day of the grand opening: vanilla, chocolate, Superman, strawberry, rainbow sherbet, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, birthday cake, pistachio, brownie fudge, blue moon, and a coffee type. The staff was so kind and friendly! Very uplifting and an exciting environment! I got a family vibe, everyone was so welcoming! After a weekend hike, we decided to stop by this ice cream shop. When I walked in, I was greeted with a cheery, "welcome to MyKings Ice Cream!" It's been a while since I was greeted with this much cheer and enthusiasm. I knew I was in the right place. As we were deciding which flavor to get, we were offered samples. We chose 4 of the vegan strawberry ice cream and 2 of the strawberry sorbet. (We're two adults and 4 kids!) Since I got the ice cream and my husband got the sorbet, I was able to taste both -- haha! . They were both delicious. I typically do not like strawberry ice cream but this one was creamy with a sweet flavor, and the strawberry pieces were big enough to add texture and flavor, but they weren't huge or chunky, which I loved. It definitely felt family owned and was very welcoming. The menu has many options to fix that sweet craving you may have, including a creative shake list. Some of the shakes feature names of places in Denver. The shop also offers a tall shelf of exotic fun sweet, spicy and salty snacks that are not typically found in the stores. Kind of reminded me of a small bodega. My crew was interested in a 1 scoop King cup of the Cookies-n-cream dairy free ice cream. Believe it or not, the kiddos loved this dairy free ice cream and was even offered a sample to taste before officially deciding on it. I appreciated the cleanliness of the staff as well, wearing hair nets and changed gloves with each customer. I decided to get the strawberry cheesecake ice cream in a shake and topped with golden Oreos. The staff member who helped me suggested mixing a scoop or two of the Golden Oreo ice cream along with the strawberry cheesecake. Brilliant!! Because it was so good. We shared a Queen order (2 scoop) of golden oreo and salted caramel oreo. Loved the flavors!! What really makes this place special is the owner, who shows so much love and pride in her business and the awesome ice cream flavors! I got the Caramel Brownie Fudge Swirl Shake and it was beyond amazing. The chocolate in this shake was rich, all the ingredients combined made the shake to die for. Le'Day also is interested in giving back to the community and teaching the youth business and life skills early on, and allows them to add these programs to their resume. I'm so glad I found MyKings. To come here is to experience hospitality. The owner and her family will treat you so kindly and welcoming. I went with a snow cone to beat the heat but took some (locally made) ice cream pints home and I'm looking forward to trying them. I also learned about the owner's program to have youth volunteers, training them in good customer service. I was so excited to learn about this local, Black family owned and operated business that's close to where I live. I finally was able to go in the other day and was greeted by the owner's grandmother, who happened to be one working when I went in. She was so friendly, personable, and happy to explain the different options and flavors to me. I ordered a float with the Superman ice cream and a Sprite. It was just what I needed on a hot day. The Superman ice cream is creamy, sweet, and fruity - I don't know if I could tell all the different flavors apart but it tasted kind of like fruity pebbles. I definitely want to go back and try the chic-o-stick shake and maybe a sno-ball. I didn't see those written on the menu at the location but they mention them on Instagram and Facebook so I'll have to remember to ask about them next time. Stopped by after a day of hiking and the delicious, home-made ice cream was a very refreshing way to end the day. Loved the texture and taste of the Golden Oreo ice cream, and the scoop sizes were quite generous. The inside atmosphere of the ice cream shop is very friendly: there isn't way too much seating (I presume to comply with social distancing requirements, of course), but the space had a variety of board and other table-top games to play while enjoying your ice cream. While I didn't go for some of the more innovative offerings, there are shakes and to-go ice cream options for those more adventurous than me. I asked her to recommend a specialty shake and she easily sold me on the apple pie shake with real apple pie!
