Megabus - Megabus bus stop in Philly between walnut and chestnut streets along Schuylkill

I did not see a lot of signage, so you just hope that you are in the right line for your bus' destination. It's kind of like the blind leading the blind until the bus arrives. A couple of annoying aspects of the bus stop. 1. The lines are not managed. Although I was one of the first people to arrive for my bus (about 30-40 minute prior to departing), I ended up being one of the last people to get on the bus. Why? Once the bus arrives, people throw queueing etitiuqe out the window and will make a mad dash to the bus. It would be nice if Megabus could have an employee manage the line, but I guess that might cut into Megabus' profits. Also, I do not think many folks would be willing to stand outside for several hours managing folks in a line...something GROWNUPS should be able to handle on their own. 2. Since you are waiting on a sidewalk, the waiting area is uncovered, so you will be exposed to the elements. Fortunately for my fellow passengers and me, it started raining 15 or so minutes after we pulled off. #phew.

If being specific, the day after I checked in I noted that someone went through my medications I left in the fridge and rebagged them. On the one hand this is quite rude and made me feel violated. On the other hand they simply have people hunched over-passed out-doing drugs across from the doorway and so I shrugged it off as I assumed they were having trouble with this. A couple of the ladies were especailly kind. Stephanie I believer her name is took the group on a rather fun ghost tour which when compared with the tour I spend $25 on later was better. Another lady working checked out their umbrella and I didn't have to like 'ah leave ID or anything. That was cool. But then some of the staff are just deal breakers. On my last night I bought a Philadelphia Cheesesteak and wanted to eat in the lounge while either deciding to extend the weekend or treck back eariler to New York. Dude in a trucker hat with long hair said to clear out and then waited and watched me pack up my stuff from the fridge. So kinda ruined my hoagie, I was like 70-30 on staying the weekend, that put a bad taste in my mouth but ah, now I'm having that hoggie. I would stay at the other hostel as I heard through the grapevine they do more social activies and it's online a bit cheaper. I haven't seen it but imagine safer for familes and groups. Alright.

It was great for leftovers and enabled me to eat frequently, since I'm trying very hard to maintain my weight. Parking is on site but... our rental car was too tall to handle the 6'3" height limit. No problem, there are other lots in the area and I like to walk anyway. To Hilton's credit, they mention this on the hotel web site. What stood out was the cleanliness and the service. All was clean and ready for us. Plus, Rahkya behind the desk was very gracious and helpful. Gus the bellman was personable and helpful. Shawnette and Aaron in the breakfast buffet were friendly and helpful. Everyone we interacted with, including the staff at the onsite restaurant were friendly and professional. I wish I could say the same about Philly drivers. I've been driving around a lot and that hasn't been much fun. Almost nobody makes eye contact or makes room. I've seen worse in other cities but bring your A game if you plan to drive here, in these small historic streets. Life is good with a comfortable stay using points.

To…read morere-use an ancient line of my stump speech, 3 stars on Yelp isn't a good rating, unlike a work performance review. A newcorollary is I'd skip a 2.5 star pizza place but would be fine with most 2.5 star hotels. Wyndham is getting hit by the Urban Parking Penalty. This isn't the place for me to discuss the obnoxious elements of car culture or even its occasionally-annoying opponents. I don't have a car but when I did I never expected cheap parking in any major city. More esoterically, Wyndham's rating is getting dinged by one-time events that are statistically unlikely to afflict your trip. And the ratings are balanced out by the swooning that might follow a glamorous Omni or a buzzy mid-market location like Tru by Hilton. The room was large and clean. The workers were friendly. There's no rooftop pool or Conga Line Tuesdays. The TV doesn't have 800 channels and to my knowledge wasn't "smart." Geography note: Old City is pleasant. It's not far from the 5th St. subway stop; during off-peak hours I'd prefer to walk up 4th or even use the 2nd St. stop. This is less than a mile than the most important tourist attraction in America, the Reading Terminal Market.

Club Quarters Rittenhouse Square - AVOID AT ALL COSTS…read more I rarely leave reviews but what happened here needs to be said so nobody else goes through what I did. I booked a room at 12:20 AM on June 5th and walked through their doors TEN MINUTES LATER. The front desk told me I couldn't check in until 3:00 PM -- nearly 15 hours away. A policy that was NEVER disclosed during booking. Not in the confirmation. Not anywhere. I immediately tried to modify the reservation right then and there. Wouldn't let me. I tried to get a refund. Denied. $231 gone -- just like that -- for a room I couldn't even use. I tried to rebook on the spot. The agent -- who knew exactly what I had just been through -- told me she couldn't take a reservation in person and directed me to Travelocity. Travelocity wouldn't let me book back a day. It's now 12:45 AM. I'm standing in their lobby stranded, with no room, no refund, and no options. And then she laughed at me. The hotel made zero attempt to accommodate me, reconcile the situation, or show one ounce of human decency. No apology. No solution. Just "you're screwed" and that was it. I disputed the $231 charge with Capital One. Also denied. This place took $231 from me, left me stranded alone past midnight, and laughed in my face. In an economy where every dollar counts, that is unforgivable. Stay somewhere that actually values its guests. This is not that place.
