When my dress didn't come in time, she was totally accommodating with her schedule to wait for the dress so we could take the pictures. Nina had driven all around the suburbs before our meet up to scope out some beautiful scenery for us - not easy to do in the grey Chicago winter! The day of, it was freezing outside but she had a vision and worked with us to spend minimal time outside but capture absolutely stunning images! She has such a phenomenal eye for color and light and setting up a photo dimensionally in the space! Nina turned our photos around within about a week and they were so so beautiful, that we knew we'd be hiring her to do our newborn photos too after baby came! Baby came, we called Nina, and again she was so accommodating with scheduling and came over to our home. Baby was super fussy that day and our dog peed on the blanket Nina brought (so embarrassing!) but Nina was so patient and gracious and made us feel very comfortable in what was a pretty stressful experience for new parents with a grumpy baby! Again, she returned our photos within about 2 weeks and had somehow captured over 100 images of my son in between his tears! I had been so worried that baby wouldn't have given us anything to work with but Nina is magic and caught him in his tiny little calm moments! When the time was right, we booked with them and looking back couldn't be any happier that we did. Monica & her husband, Chris, are a powerful photography team that captured all the little and big moments for our wedding. There were sweet moments they captured, like one of our friend's little girl's tossing up flowers in the air after the ceremony, or my little cousin waiving at me as I walked down the aisle - things I may have missed. Their attention to detail is extraordinary and they capture emotion with each shot. What I love most about their photography style, is they let you be you and their editing style is flawless. So where do you even start when it comes to narrowing down who you want to hire for your big day? We went about finding our wedding photographer (Jenna) through a social media group called the Chicago Toasters. It's a private group with over 10K local women that's an open forum for asking questions, getting recommendations, etc. I decided to browse old post threads within this group where other women that were getting married were asking for photographer recommendations in the Chicagoland area for their wedding. I made note of all the photographers that got recommended several times, and Jenna was one of them! From there, we contacted Jenna and the rest is history. And let me tell you, we are SO glad we chose Jenna to work with - She is AMAZING in all ways. -She is fun, friendly and she makes you feel at ease immediately -Her photography style is beautiful, light and airy -She is assertive -She is great with her communication and provided so many great resources and professional guidance throughout the entire process On the day of our wedding, the Chicago lights festival parade was also happening. We planned to take bridal party pictures by the Wrigley Building, and when we arrived we were getting asked to leave by the police. Jenna worked her magic and was able to convince them to let us use the space for 20 minutes - Jenna and her assistance captured SO MANY great photos within this short period of time and worked so well under pressure! He had excuse after excuse and then he just stopped responding. I'm glad to have at least received our wedding albums and other assets but after so much communication, he never delivered on the frame and lost all trust in him.

I will start this off by stating this fact --- I am a very critical and tough judge when it comes to photographers. Some of the "legends" to me are over hyped and over rated. What can I say? I am tough to impress. I subscribe to the blogs of over 100 award winning photographers and go through hundreds of blog posts every single week. Needless to say, I love this stuff and am a bit obsessed. I can confidently say that after having seen so much work, I have developed a pretty good eye. I considered over 30 award winning photographers on all sorts of sites like WPJA, AGWPJA, etc. I really had no budget in mind --- this was my wedding and to me photography is more important than anything, including the venue itself. So I feel like my picking David alone was a big endorsement. I also knew that, after getting our wedding pictures, I would write David a review no matter what. Good or bad, no matter what. My review would be a 100% honest one. If he did a terrible job and I was not happy with the result, well sorry buddy, I am going to write you a 1 star review, objectively stating the facts as to why nobody should hire you. If you did amazing work, you would get an review reflecting that. Objective and fair review, no matter what. So let me be totally objective. Here as I write my review, I am left wondering HOW to write a review for David's work at my wedding. When Michael Jordan scored 63 points, as a journalist, how do you put into words just how great he is? Do you have lots of exclamation points? Do you write with lots of words in caps? Do you use the words legendary and out-of-this-planet in every other sentence? How do you truly convey in a Yelp review *true greatness*? Words fall short -- they really do. David shot 7 events for our Indian wedding --- engagement session, Sangeet, Baraat, Wedding Ceremony, Reception, Family portraits, and Day After Shoot. I was quite confident the pictures would be good. I did not know they would be insanely good, purely deeply truly amazing. I mean he delivered around 2,500 images. Yes, two and a half thousand high res images. Surely there would be some duds? Right? 2,500 images for crying out loud, but I can honestly say that every single one is awesome. Like, beautiful. Captial B Beautiful. Every single one. How is this even possible? How in the world did he do this?!?!?!? OK, I am trying with my words, but seriously, I ask again, how can I best convey David's greatness in words? This man is one of the finest photographers of any kind I have ever come across, and consider that in the context of how obsessive I am about photographers and how many I follow. David is a true artist, a rare talent. Some photographers are great at capturing moments. Some are amazing at post processing the images. Some are great at going above and beyond for their clients. David is all of these things. He is a true photojournalist. I call him Ninja David since there were plenty of times where I had no idea where he was; he was so out of sight and mind and that is the best way to capture natural images of real human emotion. But then there is "the eye" --- you have to see it first to capture it. David excels here. Incredible eye. Then there is the timing --- you have to see it coming and then snap, take the image at the perfect time. David excels at this. Impeccable timing. Then there is the post processing. Once you have the image, you have to "fix it" - sometimes the colors, add filters, and others. You have to think about each image and ask how to make them even better. David's post processing of the images of our wedding was flawless. Taking it all together, looking at it holistically ---- I mean David's work is so good, I sometimes just laugh looking at the pictures. Like one laughs at someone who hits 15 three pointers in a row in a NBA game. That type of greatness, it just makes you shake your head and laugh when you witness it. Icing on the cake: David is such a nice guy. A joy to work with given his love for life, his love for his clients, his love for his work. He exudes positive energy. He is laid back and goes above and beyond for his clients. Kind hearted and generous. By the way, last thing. If you are not hiring him, 3 words for you my friend: terrible, terrible decision.
