We took our sweet family dog in after being attacked by another dog and having to stitch up the wound ourselves (due to the lack of after hours care). They did not seem concerned or offer much advice, merely prescribing an antibiotic. The next day, when our pup declined, I called and they did not try to fit us in and even forgot to have a tech call us back. Our dog went septic and passed away the same night. Their lack of thorough examination, instructions, and care is why I will no longer take my pets there (even after coming there for the last five years). I took my kitty in thinking that all I was dealing with was an abscess and then I would get some antibiotics and take her home. Ended up there were issues that were not able to be resolved, and I ended up having to have her euthanized. The staff was amazing and very professional and kind hearted. They were gentle with my kitty . And they let me have time to myself in the room afterwards where I bawled my eyes out. I will definitely use their services in the future when needed.. read more

I brought a trapped feral cat here under the belief that I was accessing S/Nipped's TNR program. Multiple staff members heard me reference S/Nipped and TNR but never disclosed that Myrtle Point Veterinary Hospital is not affiliated with S/Nipped. I later discovered S/Nipped is a separate nonprofit clinic located behind the building, though signage and MVH's own website present them as part of MVH's facility. As a result, I was billed at full private-practice rates for services I believed were part of the nonprofit program. When I raised this concern in writing, MVH did not address the misrepresentation and simply noted I should not return in the future. Hello folks, I am leaving this review because MVH totally redeemed themselves and I feel I should explain. We were all spoiled by Dr. Lisa. That was a given. She was our Dr. Pol. My recent visit on June 7th was fabulous. My dog actually slipped her collar. I dropped everything and ran out the door after her. Both of the front office girls did the same and brough me my lease and one of theirs. She was stopped by a passerby (thank you Cherrie) and safely returned. Again, my issue, not the dog. I did not have the collar tight enough. Body harness and collar from this point on. The girls were so sweet and kind. We laughed after the fact, but I was total "crazy dog mom" during the escape! My vet is Dr. Kramer. I will only see Dr. Kramer. I had Dr. Cunningham before and that woman should never be allowed to touch anyones pet. I left and went to another vet for a year until my beautiful girl was diagnoised with lung cancer. Dr. Kramer and Brittany came out to my home. My old girl did not like vet visits, especially the last one with that horrible Dr. Cunningham. I opted to have her pass at home in her own enviroment with her hoomans around her. Dr. Kramer and Brittney were so compassionate and kind to myself as well as my old girl, as they helped her cross over to rainbow bridge. They then let us have our time and carefull with love wrapped her up and took her for cremation.. That was in Feb 2024. In April 2024 I rescued my beautiful girl from Saving Grace in Roseburg. I decided to go with MVH based on dealing with Dr. Kramer for my old girls passing. Dr. Kramer did a complete checkup. Answered all my questions and gave her a clean bill of health. The staff and assistants are amazing. I adore Brittany and Bella. The new location is bigger and more rooms. More lobby room too. Makes it easier when you have a nervous pet parent worring about other pets. now all pets are pet friendly. Especially shelter pets. It takes them weeks and months to settle into their forever home. Especially if the are not puppies or kittens. I am very happy with Dr. Kramer. I feel she is on her A game when it comes to my girls health. Both her and her Tech have no problem getting on the floor and touching and working on my dog. That is a throwback to Lisa's way of meeting and dealing with your pet. They had no problem with me being in the room too. Another high point. I do not like it when for a general check up or blood draw etc, that I am kicked out. My anxiety goes bonkers when they take my pet away. especially with a shelter rescue. They already are freked out. Sometimes, it has to be that way, but not everytime. A Dr. Cunningham habit that I loated. Dr. Kramer had no problem with me spacing out my girls vaccines. It is called a tech visit. They just administer the vacinne, and your out the door. I am not a fan of viral vacinne overload on my dog. Dr. Kramer is not pushy. She gives you the facts and its up to you if you want to proceed. If its important, she will let you know. I like her matter of fact personality and her honesty. Overall I am pleased. They deal with my issues as well as my pet I do not know why, but I become a complete mess when I take my dog in. Bottom line, no, they are not the cheapest gig in town. But seriously, what vet is. The health and life of my dog is worth the cost. Your pets health is only as good as your vet. So interview your vet. If they will not touch your animal or listen to your concerns, Then request a different vet or move on. This pertains to every vets office. There are good vets and bad vets. Just like our human health care. Be proactive in your pets care. Thank you. read more

All about the money. Don't have money don't bother. I'm retired fixed income. It wasn't long ago I could afford a vet, at least to put a dying dog to sleep. Not sure what I can do going forward. They say rising costs which is bull. I've worked medical and this is generally what is said to try to cover up profit motive. My neighbors just shoot dying pets can't pay vet. This whole issue may be the result of a new owner, John Deck at the beginning of 2026. Since then it's not the place it used to be. The Vets are quick and terse. The vet assistants are their buffer. It's almost impossible to get a question answered about your animal beyond a fifteen minute consult including the part where they give you an itemized list of possible costs. If you don't understand that list you have to advocate for yourself and your pet. If you cannot afford it or if your pet is difficult or other mystery criteria that is NOT shared, you will be dropped in the worst way by having a receptionist call you. They will not know why you are being given the message. If you ask for the vet or the manager there will more delays. That person will dance around the reason as well. Then you will get a letter from the new owner. They appear to want problems that take fifteen minutes and clients just figure it out yourself. They will not communicate their reason as 'they don't have to'. Your next step will be up to you. read more

I had a aged pomeranian that I had taken in for his entire life to Lisa Cornell. Excellent service always amazing. End of life care he started having a cough that started same time as contracting kennel cough. Waited 3 hours in the lobby before being seen. Another 45 minutes in the room. Told he has an ear infection. What about the cough? He's a pom has collapsing trachea. Waved it off. Okay never knew about that. Asked what could be done gave him pills despite telling her he literally won't eat if I use pills that I need liquid or something. Dismissed. Because I wasn't understanding what collapsing trachea is I bought him back a week later due to these goose like coughs. Told same thing more pills. Strong words here. What a fucking lack of bedside manner. Woman dismissing like she has something better to do than be caring and helpful. Like my wheezing old dog wasn't worth her goddamn time. I haven't been back since 2022 because of this and glad this place has shit reviews. Been down hill for years. Ended up having to use the OVRA in Eugene and use the Emergency Vet Hospital up there instead. Don't bother giving this place your money till they start behaving like professionals worth it. Had to put my old man down not because of the tracheal issue but for multiple spinal issues that the first vet should have seen/felt because it took 10 minutes doe them at the OVRA to say there is something wrong with his back. Hanson Meekins in Coos Bay got me the referral. But I will never forget sitting here distraught over my dog and being made feel like I was a waste of someones time. Made an appointment here for my dog because he hurt his tooth- saw blood on a snack and now he's whimpering when eating. They charged me $395 and did not look at his teeth or discuss his potential injury/ pain with me. They told me they don't do that at their office- wish I knew that when I made the appointment. I called a week ago because of the blood/ potential tooth injury. It looks like one of his teeth cracked in half/ it's clearly cracked off. He was recently adopted from the shelter, so I also needed to establish vet care. I explained this on the phone. We went today and I reviewed with the vet tech that the primary concern is his teeth. She was aware of this as she had been given the concern list (made via the phone call) from reception. Other concerns were minor- getting up to date on vaccines & he's been chewing at his paws. The vet came in and asked that my dog be put on the table and immediately started listening to his heart with her stethoscope. My dog is a very mellow, gentle boy, but due to abusive past, he is scared of objects coming at him. He won't even eat peanut butter off a spoon cuz he's scared of spoons. The vet didn't even greet my dog/ let him sniff her, just told the tech to put him in a choke hold and started poking at him. He was scared and cried out a little. I tried to tell him it was ok and the vet scolded me and told me to firmly tell him "no" and not coddle him when he cries out. I'm glad that he expresses when he is nervous and he usually just needs a little reassurance- her method is how dogs bite "out of no where" when you tell them they are bad for communicating their discomfort. (I didn't stop the exam, I just spoke to him in a soothing voice and stood where he could see me.) She then lifted his cheek and barely glanced at his teeth. She maybe saw 3 back teeth from the side- the broken tooth is in the front. She stated he needed a teeth cleaning (I know and wanted to get that scheduled today.) She then said he was gaining weight because I have him on a grain free diet (no advice about how much I should be feeding him or any food recommendations). I tried to start a discussion around his diet and tried to explain why I chose the food he was on. I said "I've read the studies, but it seems that the main problem is replacing grains with legumes." She cut me off and only said "anyone can write anything on the internet." She then left the room with my dog to give him vaccines, but I wasn't really sure what was happening. The tech came back with the cost breakdown. This seemed standard and I signed. I had provided them with his vaccine paperwork, but they still gave his extra vaccines he wasn't due for yet. Then a new tech brought me my dog and told me they would be giving me his heartworm to take home and we would be all set to go. I asked if the vet would be coming back as we didn't really discuss any of the things that I came in to discuss- not his mouth injury or even his general health/ wellness. The tech told me that the vet didn't really talk to people. I asked if there was another vet or if the vet could come talk to me since I still had questions/ concerns. They said I could come another day, but the vet refused to come back into the room to speak with me anymore and that she had "moved on to other patients for the day." I had 2 employees tell me that there are other vets at the office I could request to see next time and it would be understandable- this seems to be a common problem with this vet (Briar Cunningham). The office manager said I could discuss my concerns or have a vet tech perform an exam on my dog, but I would still be charged in full as the vet "did perform an exam." (I stated I did not want to pay the $55 vet exam if the vet would not examine my dog for the problem we booked this appointment for.) She also said that they didn't know I was coming in cuz of my dogs teeth and they don't do that at their office and would give me a referral to their other location. I left crying and my dog is still in pain. Now dog has to wait another 2 weeks for appt at Morgan vet. read more

I brought my my 14 lb dachshund to DVM Cunningham on an emergency basis ($85) because he was jamming his paw down his throat. I advised them that this had begun after he spent an afternoon chewing on tree stumps exploring our old-growth property. He was salivating heavily and having trouble drinking water. Cunningham would only perform a physical exam if he was put under general anesthesia because she was afraid she would be bitten. - She would not anesthetize unless $175 in lab tests were done first. - Since he was anesthetized, he had to be crated which was an additional charge. - The diagnosis? A 2-inch twig lodged between his back teeth which was found during the physical exam. Total Bill - $586.00 After reviewing this experience, I realized that I had witnessed the coordinated execution of a carefully constructed process designed to leverage my pets health in order to extract significantly more money than was necessary. MVH strives to appear transparent in disclosing the details of each service and its associated costs; but are not transparent that their process is designed to charge for unnecessary tests and procedures. The vet techs are trained to defuse your frustration by being sympathetic, understanding, and agreeable. When all else fails, they use shameless flattery of your sick pet to defuse the anger you feel when realizing that your trusted Vet leveraged your pets health for greed. read more

Told me my cat would either need to be put down or have it's leg amputated and would need to be on painkillers the rest of its life. Charged me $700. Got a second opinion from O'Donnell at Coquille Animal Hospital, he immediately realized the cat was having an allergic reaction to fleas. Prescribed a flea killer for every pet in the house, two days later my cat was fine. This doctor has been responsible for people losing their pets before it was necessary. They should not be in business. They also over-prescribe painkillers, while we were in there they prescribed the same one to 4 other patients, and a year earlier the same one to both my grandpas dogs who we later realized didn't need them at all. read more

I asked the receptionist if they check for mareks disease in chickens. "Hold on let me ask.... yes we can set up an appointment." I asked if I needed to bring my bird in dead for a necropsy or if I should bring it in live. Again she checked and told me to bring it in live and they would draw blood. As I arrived for my appointment I waited 30 minutes like I do every time when arriving for my appointments as I've brought my dog in for check ups with her litter. After the long wait and the helpers to come in intermittently to gather info on the chicken, the vet comes in and makes a lot of small talk and concludes that there's not much she can do. I told her I was frustrated that if that's all the info I am getting that I hope I'm not getting charged. Of course I was told I was paying for their expertise (which every thing they told me I've already looked into and could have diagnosed my self) that it looks as if signs could tell us that what we were seeing led to that. And that the receptionist doesn't know what to suggest when making appointments because she's not the vet. Truth is, I didn't make an appointment to make a social visit and get answers of what possibly could be the issue. I made an appointment to get answers and see if blood work would tell me if I had a genetic issue or a disease on my hands. I won't be bringing my animals here as a Breeder or a farmer. read more

My dog had a smallish tumor removed, after 10 days the incision was not healing so I took her in and the incision was refreshed and stitched up- and I was charged again. After 8 days it was not healing, they took the stitches out and sent her home with a big gaping wound and charged me again. My dog was better off with the tumor!! Would never go back. read more

Worst Vet I have ever dealt with. Called emergency number with no response over weekend. Took our 3 day old puppy there at 8:30 am after spending 36 hrs trying to get her to eat with no luck. They told me to check in at 3 to see how she was doing. No word from them all day. My daughter texted me numerous times from school and I reassured her that they had not called so she must be doing better. She got our hopes us because we did not hear anything from them. At 3 when I called they told me she died. When I told them they should have called and not let us think she was OK. They tried to lie and say they called and told me. Flat out lie. I was home next to the phone. No missed calls or voice mail. Then I had to tell my daughter who spent all day thinking she must be ok or they would have called. They charged me $291 including $48 for hospitalization for the day. Cold and heartless to not call when she actually died!!​ read more

My dog has always been seen here and they have always been professional, understanding, helpful and answer any questions in a timely manner. My dog had surgery here and came out of surgery just fine they kept me updated through the whole thing and ran extra test to ease some of my concerns and his recovery was fast! Not the best experiences. Vet recommended pet for euthanasia without offering, or trying, other treatment options for joint pain and inflammation management. Just yesterday got charged for a weeks course of medication marked "free sample not for resale". No follow up calls or interest shown in pets progress after initial treatment plan of euthanasia was not opted for by me. Prior visits also disappointing: one of my dogs was pronounced healthy at her annual visit and was diagnosed with widespread metastatic lung cancer by the same vet, and euthanized, less than a month later. At the euthanasia me and the dog had to sit on the concrete floor with just a towel under her, both of us left alone and unmonitored for a good 30 minutes. I have taken my dogs to 3 of the vets over the past 5 years at both of the branches. Not really sure what to make of it all... read more

Sorry I've been taking two medium size Boxers to this Vet for over 5 years, I had to make an emergence visit today for my youngest Girl of 9 years old, the first thing that was upsetting was the attitude my mother got from the begin, we don't have any appointments available today and who was your vet prior to today!!!! Seems very uncaring to me are you in the business to care for animals or is it just about the $$$ my sweet girl ended up having some kind of indigestion problem / bolting, not to take away from the cost to asses the problem witch I could not afford but $220.00 to euthanize seems a little steep....
