Avoid dealing with this company at all costs! They are deceitful and money-hungry. My boyfriend and I made the unfortunate mistake of signing a lease through them and ended up losing over 2k because of it. A couple weeks ago, we were shown an apartment in Brooklyn. We met the agent there at 6pm on a Tuesday. The apartment was 3 blocks from the train in a quiet neighborhood - brand, new apartment with washer/dryer, dishwasher AND a private backyard (all of which is nearly impossible to find in NYC). We were told the building was finished just 4 months prior, we were one of the first to see it - it was just put on the market so "we better act fast!" Totally fell for it. We said we wanted to apply and were hurried over to the office to apply. We paid $100 for each application and $1000 deposit that "guarantees" the apartment is taken off the market. If not approved, the application fees were non-refundable, but we would receive the deposit back. (I should mention that it is NOT typical to put down a deposit when you apply - in fact, I've never heard of anyone doing that before). After nearly a week of not hearing back (although we were told 24-48 hours), we checked the rental listings to make sure it was off the market. NOPE. Several Myspace agents had it listed. When I brought it to the agent's attention, he said "we're not showing it - agents keep it posted so potential tenants contact them and they can offer to show other available spaces". I found that to be pretty sneaky, but whatever. When we finally heard back, our agent told us the landlord "has been receiving several offers at 2,200/month, so he's only willing to offer the apartment at 1950/month on an 18-month lease". First of all, we applied for the apartment with the offer of 1900/month for 12 months. Second of all, how is he receiving offers if the place was taken off the market? Hmm... Since we put down $1,000 and wouldn't be refunded if we backed out after approval, we felt strong-armed into signing (we did not have enough for a deposit on another place). So we agreed. We signed the lease and got the keys the same day. This past Saturday, my boyfriend and I went to the apartment to take measurements. While we were there, an agent from MySpace came in with a potential tenant to show the space! He asked us if we had signed the lease. When we told him we did, he said he didn't know. That $1000 "guarantee" we were given when we applied was clearly BULLSHIT and now we know why the landlord was given "several offers for "$2,200/month. The next day, I went down to the apartment by myself to clean (despite being a "new building", it was FILTHY). On my walk from the train to the apartment, I was followed by a group of guys. I didn't even make it to the apartment - I hailed the first cab I saw and got the hell out of there. When I got home, my boyfriend and I did some research about the building, and it turns out the apartment has been on the market since 2015. The agent outright lied to us - he knew that the fact that this place has been on the market for over a year was a MAJOR red flag. After that incident, there was NO way I could live there and feel safe. My boyfriend and I exhausted all options trying to get in touch with the landlord. All our calls and emails to Myspace, the landlord and the super were flat out ignored. The landlord was completely unreachable. We finally were able to get in touch with the real estate agent who dealt with the lease signing, and terminated the lease. This whole situation was a total bait & switch. We were outright lied to just to get someone in that apartment. Because of these scumbags scammed us out of $1200, my boyfriend and I can't afford to move. I've filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to get a refund since they have seemingly disappeared since they got our money. After reading a lot of these reviews on here, I find it sneaky and shady as fuck that they have actually reached out to some people who have posted negative reviews and offered their money back in exchange for a better review. Are you fucking kidding me?! Save yourself the hassle (and the money!) - AVOID MYSPACE NYC AT ALL COSTS. read more

BEWARE! I've had a Yelp account for years and never felt the need to write a review until now. Agent we dealt with is Jana Parker. I have never dealt with a company with such a lack of communication. When we filled out a rental application with a $1133 deposit, there was nothing said about a brokers fee, it was even listed online as NO FEE. The day after we submitted the application Jana informs us that it was the wrong form and the person who sent us the form gave us all wrong information. Weird start but I just took it as a misunderstanding. Then Jana gives us another form, the only difference now is that there is an added brokers fee. I informed Jana we are not interested in pursuing a place with a brokers fee, so she said she would give me my refund. Literally 10 minutes after that she calls me up and says before we give the refund are me and my family willing to negotiate this newfound fee. We eventually reach an agreement and all was well I thought. Next day she calls me up telling me I have to give $1000+ deposit AGAIN! She claims the company gave me a refund. Why would you give me a refund if we were still negotiating? Why would you want to waste my time, the landlords time and yours?? I didn't feel comfortable giving another deposit because I didn't see the refund in my account (I STILL DONT). After 2 days of pressuring me and my family I caved and in good faith gave them another grand. I eventually had to back out of this whole deal because she kept adding new information that she should've told me from the get go, yaknow before I gave that first deposit. This company was also really pissing off my experienced guarantor, who agrees and said this company was messy, unusual, and extremely unprofessional. Stop asking me to give you the same info like 10 times! What's the reason?? Communicate with your peers so you know what's happening. People shouldn't be giving deposits twice. Don't post online that there's no fee, and then have one agent confirm that there's no fee, and then the next day have another agent tell me that there actually is one. Don't throw new info at me when you could've done it before! Would've saved us both a lot of trouble. And I'm still waiting for that first deposit that I sent DAYS ago. Y'all need to do better. Update: Agent Jana privately messaged me trying to convince me we didn't work together.. apparently she didn't catch my name between the texts, voicemails, calls, and paperwork we did. I'm sorry but how on top of things can you be if you can't even catch a persons 4-letter name after communicating for so much?? Extremely odd. Sorry this review is a long time coming but you know how hectic this City can be. For that reason, and many more, I am so blessed to have found Laura McCarthy at MyspaceNYC to help me find the perfect apartment! I moved here from LA with not the best credit and was having a stressful time finding an apartment. I was looking at closet size apartments that were more than my price range and thought this must just be nyc. Seeing how I did the research to find the apartments, thought broker fees were outrageous and with my credit, I was going to pay around $10,000 at signing. No thanks. When I was at the point of crying from stress, I found Laura. Before even meeting me, she asked my search criteria, and instantly started sending me options. If I didn't like one, she didn't push it, but just kept sending me more. She knew I was on a time restraint to find an apartment (I had less than a week to be out of my sublet) and I worked a lot of hours at a restaurant, so it was comforting to know I could rely on someone to help me out. Once we found the apartment, we had days to get paperwork in and approved. No matter what hour it was, Laura never stopped working for me. She is genuinely interested in helping you get your dream apartment. Oh and I don't believe I mentioned, she is NO FEE. She has no reason to take advantage, she just wants to help. Which in a time that is as stressful as moving, is so needed! Once I got the apartment, she called the landlord to make sure he got everything fixed that needed to be. She called me a couple weeks in to see how I was settling. And even called me a month later to make sure I was still enjoying it. You can't find that kind of personability in any city. I just finished working with Christian from myspace. The whole thing started when I called a number I found for the company. Christian answered quickly, was able to look up the apartment I was interested in, and emailed me some other apartments in my budget. When we were viewing the apartments her phone ringed nonstop, but she did not stop giving me the attention that I needed during our appointment, which I appreciated. As we viewed the units, she had all of the information about the units and pricing on hand and even texted me with the details, measurements and videos of the units so that I could review them later with all of the pertinent information at hand. The attention to detail that Christian put in during our showings, and even when I would just text her, she was so attentive and quick to respond. Her communication is on point and I felt really taken care of by her. Every time I had a question, she would text back immediately and help me understand the way the pricing and leases in rentals work. She even drove my partner and me around and dropped us off at home when we were finished, which was a nice gesture. She's knowledgeable about the neighborhoods we explored and she's funny too, so it was a pleasure to spend the time with her. I would highly recommend working with her. She knows what she's doing and she'll put your nerves at ease while you're viewing apartments with her, giving her personal opinion on why or why not the apartments would work. Worked with Jamie Pelletier to find my dream apartment in Brooklyn. My roommates and I were....a little high maintenance...to say the least. We had seen 25 apartments at this point with other brokerage firms. While we were at the apartment, my roommates were concerned about their beds and furniture fitting in the rooms. Jamie pulled out a tape measure and was able to, with certainty, show them that all furniture would fit (I don't think they would have signed without that). My one roommate was complaining that he wouldn't get good sunlight in the morning (I wanted to punch him) but Jamie won him over by pulling up a compass on her phone and showing him we actually were "facing the right way" The most impressive part was how Jamie handled things after the fact. After we had turned in our paperwork, I started to panic that one of the bedrooms might not have a closet. That the living was too small. etc. Jamie went there on her own, took pictures of the place all over again and sent me pictures of every room with a closet. AND she never once acted like we were being annoying (even though we were). Signing the lease was easy and the management company has been great so far!! BEST PART THOUGH: OUR APARTMENT IS BEAUTIFUL (private terrace, backyard, roof, laundry in building) AND NO FEE!! read more

I had such an excellent experience with Stephen Hodgens, that man is a class A person, a truly knowledgable and organized real estate professional who delivers for his clients. I started my apartment search at the beginning of June with another company and had a horrible experience with them. My realtor was totally disorganized, brought me to several apartments with the wrong keys, and did not fully understand the urgency of my situation. Frustrated, I called up MySpace NYC's Central Avenue location and told them I needed a realtor who knows what he's doing. The receptionist immediately recommended Stephen to me, and I'm glad she did. Stephen is simply amazing. We did two apartment searches with him, and for each search, he presented us with a comprehensive list of the apartments we were seeing and the details of each place (rent, # of bedrooms, fee/no fee, utilities etc). Moving is never an easy task so it was so exceptional for Stephen to take care of some of the work. He was very communicative throughout the entire process. I trusted him completely to get an apartment for us. MySpace NYC is truly lucky to have him on their team. If you need an apartment and you want a realtor who knows his stuff and will work hard for you, you need to call up MySpace NYC and ask for Stephen. read more

I just signed a lease through MySpace NYC and couldn't be happier about my experience. I was moving out of my apartment in Manhattan and moving to Brooklyn. I was in a huge pinch, had a place back out at the last minute and no real leads. In stepped Christian Dosamantes, and almost immediately my stress levels went way down. Even though she did not know me, she treated me like I was one of her close friends who she was personally helping. Even though she was showing several apartments to several people, she made me feel like I was her one, main client. Early in the morning, late at night, whenever I needed her help or to get me a showing or wanted to see places or links, she was there. She drove me around to look at places in her car multiple times (once to drop me at an apartment she wasn't even the realtor of), making sure I was seeing everything I could that was out there. She even negotiated an early move-in for us, free of charge. To say I would highly recommend Christian as your realtor for your next move would be an understatement. Whatever is higher than highly recommend is what it would be. It would be a dumb move, in my opinion, to use anyone else. And next time I'm looking for a place, she will be my one and only call. read more

I was recommended to Myspace from a friend who had used it with much success. I was very nervous to find a place on my own. I honestly didn't even know where to begin: safe neighborhood, commute, rent, utilities, bla bla bla I had no idea what I was doing. So I contacted Myspace and began to work with one of they're agents Kelly Moffet. I could not praise and recommend Kelly more! She took all the stress out of looking for a new place. She had a zip car ready to go to drive us around and she even brought cookies! She was understanding with everything we asked and she even stayed involved well after the point of doing "her" job. She was professional, friendly, honest, and I really felt like I could trust her. The apartment we found was perfect for me and my roommates and I honestly couldn't be more happy about it. The person who handled our lease signing wasn't enjoyable at all and not helpful, but Kelly makes up for everything. Also, the manager/supervisor/whoever actually called me and apologized about that situation so I didn't let it affect my five star rating. All in all if you are thinking about moving to Brooklyn I couldn't recommend Myspace NYC more and I couldn't recommend working with Kelly more. Thanks Kelly!!! read more

DO NOT WORK WITH MYSPACENYC due to their irresponsible, unethical, and quite frankly illegal behavior my roommate and I have yet to be reimbursed for over $2,500. We saw an apartment with MySpace and decided to move forward with it. Everything went smooth at first. We had signed a lease, paid first months rent, and a security deposit. Then the day before we are supposed to move in our broker, Eitan Feuer, notifies us that the building does not yet have a Certificate of Occupancy from the New York Department of buildings. Eitan blamed this mishap on the Department of Buildings. We checked the Department of Buildings website and the DOB received the application for a certificate of occupancy inspection on July 31, 2018, the day before we were scheduled to move in. [Please note that it is illegal to facilitate a lease on a building that does not yet have a Certificate of Occupancy, so they should have never allowed us to sign the lease in the first place.] We were told that we would be in our new apartment in a couple of days. Ultimately we were not housed for two weeks. We are now out money for the moving company, returned money orders for our original apartment, and a couple of nights stayed in an AirBnB. read more

Her years of experience are well more than apparent -- witnessing her operative savvy was stirring and made what I know would have been a frantic apartment search in NYC a learning experience in how it should be done. As for communicating with her clients, right after texting her a question the ellipses icon indicating she was responding immediately would appear. Astutely professional, en route between viewings she is also an absolutely amiable guide knowledgable of the immediate neighborhood and filled with suggestions for restaurants, gyms, etc. -- she's as much a guide as she is a finder; her card's been filed at the top of the business-card stack I packed last night for the move into the awesome, awesome apartment she scored me. I had been looking for an apartment for many, many weeks without success when I was lucky enough to find Stephen Hodgens! That man is a doll and went above & beyond to help me and my roommate secure a place and find a couple other normal, nice people to share a home with! It was not an easy road, one with many bumps & trials, but I can't imagine having done it with anyone else. Hands down, have never encountered an agent willing to go to such lengths and who protected our interests like Stephen did-- I've recommended him to several other friends and will continue to do so! It's late November 2021 - and the demand is pretty outrageous right now. I've had a really challenging time with brokers - so many out there disrespectful of your time and energy... As exciting as finding a new apartment can be, it is equally as daunting. I've dealt with brokers who promise to show an advertised apartment and then give you an address to a completely different property. On other occasions I've found what would be the perfect apartment only to learn that the listing price is not what it actually is. I found a listing by MySpace and met with Jamie Pelletier who was honest and extremely attentive. I was in a pinch to find a place to live and she ended showing me the perfect apartment. It was exactly how the listing described and she was prepared to answer any and all questions about the property. She even had a cool laser tool to measure the dimensions of the rooms that she busted out right there on the spot. I did not end up renting from Jae, so I cannot speak to the ease or efficiency of renting through MySpace as a brokerage firm, but working with Jae was a pleasure. She was able to meet me but two hours after I first contacted her with a list of places that might meet my rental needs. She was quick, seemingly transparent, and very informative about what the rental process would entail if I ended up attempting to apply to one of her properties. As an added bonus, she is incredibly entertaining (and has great taste in music), which makes for a much more laid-back and enjoyable apartment-touring experience. It may seem trivial, but even such a small stress-reliever is quite welcome when you are trying to navigate the treacherous waters of New York apartment hunting. read more

Ohhhh my God. Hue and I have been through SO much over the last few weeks, but I finally have a home! Renting in NYC is a monster and in a pandemic??? Insanity. I almost moved back to the Midwest because I was having such a hard time - but Hue never gave up. Even when I was at my least charming, she held her boundaries and held her strength - a true professional. She worked tirelessly behind the scenes, going above and beyond - even being available for late night texts. Whenever she had bad news, she ALWAYS had an alternative solution. PLEASE request Hue, she will take care of you. Also of note: MySpace's seamless virtual renting process is unmatched. From tour to document signing, it's gold. The only feedback I have is the processing fees that definitely add up over time, so be prepared to budget out extra $ for that. read more
