Genuinely so impressed with how intricate the omega room is. I can't even fathom how all of the components were created to flow so smoothly. We solved it with just a few minutes to spare, 2 adults and a child. It was very challenging but not discouraging. I can't clearly remember exactly what puzzles we did or how we got to the end because I was running on straight adrenaline but I do know it was incredibly satisfying. We have done many escape rooms (at least fifteen by now) and apparently have been very spoiled by the other places we have been. We like to do them whenever we visit a new town. This one was the worst experience we've had. I'm giving it two stars because at least we did get to solve a few puzzles but other than that it was just overall a bad experience. Here were the big issues: 1. Staff are not into their jobs. A good escape room will have staff members that help set the mood and the stage of the experience. We did not get that here. 2. The room itself (the Omega) makes you solve one puzzle at a time so that you cannot do ANYTHING if you get stuck on one puzzle. This is terrible with a big group because you can't spread out and work on clues in smaller teams. Your big group ends up just getting in the way of each other because you can't all physically gather around one specific puzzle to figure it out. This is the first time we've had an escape room that did not have puzzles that could be done at the same time to unlock items that then come together to reveal a bigger clue. The whole way this is set up makes it extremely frustrating for large groups. 3. You will be put into a room with strangers. This can make or break a room if you get put with a group that is not experienced or doesn't speak the same language (which is what happened in our case) 4. There is no chalkboard or dry erase board so you can't write down the clues as you find them or write anything down to help figure out a puzzle. If you try to write it down using an electronic device since there isn't anything in the room to use to write on, the staff will yell at you. What kind of escape room doesn't have a board you can use to write down ideas as a team and help decipher clues?!! If you do decide to visit this establishment I would highly recommend bringing a pencil and writing pad. read more

My husband and I and our adult children and significant others did The Omega Device. Later in the afternoon, our adult children and SOs came back and did The Inheritance. We escaped The Omega Device, but The Inheritance apparently is quite a challenge. It was a great bonding experience. We will definitely return for new rooms. We had a blast for our first time in an escape room! We had a group of different ages including my 8yr old who loves mystery's and I feel as though we were all able to figure something out! This was the worst experience I've had at an escape room. Don't book the "outside" room, Murder Mystery, unless you want it to be a whole 3 hour thing, & want to WALK around in public with all this stuff to carry. It's not your typical escape room, & when we arrived & figured out what it was, we were asking the guy that was working questions & were met with an attitude that honestly made us not want to do it at all. We decided to lose out on our money & not do the activity at all. Would not recommend, there's a lot more professional escape rooms that we will go to. read more

Pros: - exercise from walking - various "crime scenes" allow you to visit downtown - combination of medium to difficult on various puzzle types Cons: - due the the physical nature not recommended for those with difficulty on stairs, continuous walking, or uneven surfaces - may cause squabbling with in your party due to differences of opinions We would love to return and do the next outdoor adventure now we have some experience under our belts! read more

My out-of-town guest and I decided to participate in the escape room this morning due to the rain. We looked online and booked a room last minute. It cost $25 to play and $15 if you are a student, given you have your student ID to show as proof. The process was very easy to book online. Since there was just two of us, we were able to join a family of four (up to 6 players, max). It ended up being a really good time with well-seasoned and intelligent players, but I feel that this is something to highly consider before booking a room because I can guarantee this isn't always the case. You want to make sure you establish your own group of 6 or consider booking a private room so that you can have the best time (this is true of all escape rooms; not just this one). Anyway, we had a fun time this morning completing The Inheritance Room. Soon, this will change for there to be a setup of the Omega Device room (check their website for more details). The game was fun and challenging, but not to bad, and also interesting. You have unlimited clues available, provided you don't care to be on the Wall of Fame (if you want that; you can't use any clues). Overall, I would highly recommend this game if you are interested in trying out an Escape Room. This experience is perfect for rainy days in Boone. In addition, we learned that it is locally owned and operated by a sole individual who conceptualizes, creates, designs, installs everything you see. Admittedly it is not as extravagant and intricate as other rooms in other, larger cities, but it is still 100% enjoyable and especially for Boone! My only recommendation is regarding static shock feature: I am seriously terrified of being shocked, and because this was mentioned as a possibility, was not engaging in the experience fully or investigating things hands-on as much as I would have liked to (or usually do) for fear of sudden shock. There ended up being no static shock included in this particular room, which I wish I asked about prior to entering the room, because it would have made all the difference for me. read more

My nieces and I got to the escape room and discovered we would be playing with strangers. We weren't told ahead so we were a bit surprised. The other team wasn't very friendly. As a matter of fact when it got stressful words were exchanged which didn't make the experience enjoyable. Keep that in mind when booking. Only one room to choose from. read more

My husband and our two girls (12 and 9) went to the Mysterium in March. We had an AMAZING time! We are still talking about how great it was. We had to ask for 2 or 3 hints (can't remember which it was now), but we weren't concerned about that, just that we wanted to finished. Everyone contributed and we escaped! I don't want to give anything away, but we were blown away by the effects. It obviously took a lot of work and thought. Can't wait for the next one to be opened. Me and 5 friends made a reservation through a cabin we were staying at that gave us one person free, once we got there the man was very rude he said we shouldn't be able to do that and we all were gonna pay individually but he got an attitude and said that was inconvenient for him. If you like escape rooms, you can not go wrong with Mysterium, which is owner operated. We made a family outing renting a private room for my wife and I and our two teenage daughters, we also brought our seven year old son who was a little spooked but ended up having a fun time. We had an amazing time yesterday at the Mysterium Escape Room. We passed by this establishment while walking through Boone and decided to stop in to see what shows they had. We have done some escape rooms in the past. The employee we spoke with was kind and helpful and told us about the one show they had available. We asked at 2:30 pm when the next show was and he said 3 pm. We decided to do it and bought the tickets, there were four of us total. The escape room holds up to 6 people but no one else bought the other 2 tickets so it was just us four. It was a small room but the props, theatrics, clues, and story was phenomenal. It was pretty tricky but you are allowed to ask for hints through a walkie talkie as many times as you want. You get 60 min to escape and it took us about 50 min with 2 or 3 hints. We definitely recommend this escape room to others and cannot wait to return when their next show is ready! read more

I participated in the Mysterium Escape Room as a team building exercise and it was amazing! We had a blast searching the room for clues and trying to solve the mystery using the hints provided. I'd like to say we didn't ask for many hints (you can request as many as you feel you need) but it wasn't very easy! We solved the mystery in the nick of time, with something like 5 minutes to spare. It's a great way to get to know your friends/family/teammates a little better. We laughed a lot and there were some scary/suspenseful elements as well. I completed "The Inheritance" escape room with three other people. For my husband and me, this was our 14th escape room. This was the third room for one of our members and the first for the other. These were our thoughts after completing the room. What really stood out to us was the setting and special effects in the room. Without going into detail (you'll have to see for yourself!), this room boasted the best special effects of any escape room I've done before. The special effects worked flawlessly and added to the theme of the experience by keeping us on the edge of our seats! While the special effects were amazing, the puzzles were mostly the searching type. In fact, we ended up finding some items before we needed them. This type of puzzle can be a lot of fun, but we felt like we wanted puzzles that required more thinking and teamwork. With a group of four, it felt like one person (on rare occasions two people) worked on a puzzle while the others watched. We needed to ask for two hints during our completion of the puzzle. To both hints, our game master told us that we had solved the puzzle, we just weren't interacting with the room in the correct way--which felt frustrating. In addition, at the end of the game, we felt that the story line wasn't as strong as at the beginning of room--it didn't really make sense to us. Overall, I would recommend this escape room to anyone in the area. It was an exciting room even though we felt there could have been more puzzles in the room. They also give an amazing discount to students with a valid university ID--so take advantage if you can! read more

Arrived there with unwilling wife and 9 and 12 year old daughters. We had a great time, the room was perfect and the mystery was great. Eventually even the wife joined in and help solve the puzzle. Zip-line, white water rafting, if you ask the kids, this was the highlight of our trip to Boone, NC. We really enjoyed it. read more
