My granddaughter got married at this lovely venue. The wedding planner was amazing. Every single minute of this wonderful event went perfectly. The family and wedding party gathered earlier for pictures. The wedding ceremony was held in an intimate setting followed by a cocktail hour then dinner and dancing in a larger building. They even had a trivia game set up in the upper floor. The venue offered everything: vast menu options, a selection of DJs to book, and even hair stylists. All of the flowers were freshly grown from the farm. Highly recommend this venue. read more

If you ever have the opportunity to attend an event here--don't turn it down! When I was first invited to a wedding here in June, and saw how rustic it was in photos and outdoors, I had grave concerns, but in the end no one got hurt and everyone made it back safely to civilization. The reception area is indoors and a fine place for a party of any type. They serve drinks with Lavender from their farm. They will give you packets of Lavender--it's a real Lavender Farm I will forever have great memories of attending a wedding here. Such a unique place. Some important details you may want to know: 1. Give yourself a minimum of 30 minutes from Chapel Hill to get here--45 minutes during the business week. Slow speed roads, lots of turns, dirt the last section, drive slow. 2. The last 1/2 mile is all dirt gravel--some thick. I had an SUV 4-wheel drive truck rental coincidentally--no problem at all. If I had my personal sports car--PAIN! I may not have gone down the road... If you are flying in for an event here--do yourself a favor and rent a PU Truck or SUV, not a passenger car. If you live here--borrow someones truck--you will thank me. 3. The entire parking lot is gravel--drop everyone off on the reception pavement and one person parks and does the long walk on gravel to the reception--wear appropriate shoes to walk on gravel. I cleaned my shoes for 30 minutes the next day. They have golf carts--if you are concerned about your shoes--ask for golf cart pickup from the parking lot. 4. Men's and women's bathrooms are tiny for a party more than 100 people--get in there when everyone else is not. 5. The outdoor wedding ceremony in June brought tears to my eyes...and sweat to my body--dress appropriately. 6. Spend as much time as you can on the patio outside--it's so pleasant there overlooking the Lavender fields I could sit there every night with a drink. I don't have a review of the food because the food is different for everyone based on budget and who you hire for food provision. I posted some photos of the place, but on the request of the family will not post photos of any attendees, or the wedding couple due to their national celebrity status. I had the opportunity to chat a bit with the owner of Lavender Oaks Farms who is one of the most successful and dynamic entrepreneurs you will meet. We were blessed to be invited to a wedding that was held at the beautiful location. The moment you arrive at the property, you know you are in a special place! There are beautiful outdoor spaces abounding with rustic gazebos, fire pits, lavender groves and dense trees surrounding the main attraction which is the " barn ". We were fortunate to have spectacular weather and the ceremony was held outside in front of the amazing fireplace with wooded backdrop. The interior of the barn has plenty of space for bar set up, tables, and a generous dance floor. The wedding we attended was probably 100 people which allowed for lots of space. There were some guests seated on the second floor looking down but they didn't seem to mind. They had a great view of the bride and groom and dance floor. The outside space was utilized as a s'mores station, relaxation area and a place to get away from the music if needed. We had a wonderful time and loved everything about the wedding and the venue. read more

I read about Lavender Oaks Farm in an issue of Our State and knew I wanted to drive to Chapel Hill to visit. The farm is a very relaxing place to visit. There is a large parking area that is just a short walk from the main barn. When I got to the shop, I was greeted by everyone including the owner. I visited on a Thursday when tours are offered at 11am for $10. This also includes admission and some of the proceeds are donated to charity. Our tour began in the main barn that is rented out for events such as weddings. Parts of the main barn came from a barn in Pennsylvania and the owner designed the rest of the venue. Then we walked over to the restored pavilion where the hewn oak beams were put back together just like they were originally. We also learned about all it took to make the farm into what it is today and how to grow lavender in North Carolina's climate and soil. I really enjoyed the tour and how welcoming Karen was to her farm. The tour helped me appreciate all the beautiful lavender growing. The fields contain 4,000 plants and we were allowed to bring our own scissors and cut 25 stems for $10. The farm has a lot of pollinators from butterflies to bees so that was a highlight of my visit. The farm also has a gift shop that has pre-cut lavender, lavender herbs; lavender syrups; lotions, teas, soaps, sachets, and more. I look forward to my next visit at the farm. read more

My family and I went to one of the event lunches they offer and it was amazing! All of the food was prepared with lavender and all was delicious. We were allowed to cut lavender after the meal and also visited their gift boutique where I spent too much money but again was amazing and worth it! definitely recommend the meal or at least a visit to the farm! read more

Opening weekend! We have missed you Lavender Oaks Farm! So, post covid shutdown, many people are probably wondering what has changed? As you drive up the charming gravel road, drive slowly to keep the dust down- you'll appreciate it when you are outside and everyone else is nicely doing the same :) Once you park, it opens up to their beautiful barn. Look to the right and we we saw some smiling faces who gave us some free dried lavender satchels. ::PAYMENT:: exact cash or VENMO. We happily Venmo'd them and I think it's pretty cool they accept this form of payment too :) Do you follow them on IG? Their social media is the quickest way to find out all the new happenings! I'm fact, the lavender were JUUUUUST waking up so this weekend only had wisps of color. We stopped by the gift store (inside the barn) to look at all their products they make themselves! The owner was absolutely charming to talk to. I walked away with a bundle of dried lavender and a lavender BBQ dry rub which I can not wait to try. Thank you for having us! I went with a group from Cary to visit this amazing farm. One of the owners, Karen, greeted us as we entered the huge barn. The barn's wood is beautiful, and was taken from an old barn in PA that was being torn down. Karen told us the history not only of the wood of the barn, but how she and her husband came to NC and started the lavender farm. A very interesting history...and she tells it so well. She had cooked lunch for us and everything had some lavender included in the recipe! It was all so delicious, fresh and from local farms nearby. We then went out to the fields of lavender....so well kept and beautiful. We were free to cut some lavender if we wished to bring home. There is a shop in the barn that sells various lavender items, including some that you can cook with. Don't miss the lavender jam or syrup! This venue is PERFECT for a wedding. The "guys" have a separate house to dress in and the gals have a beautiful room in the barn. There is plenty of room to set up anything you might need for a fun and beautiful wedding. It is just lovely and so peaceful. There is another outdoor space that also has reclaimed wood in it that would also be a fun venue for any kind of gathering. Karen made our day so much fun and so informative about both the farm and the lavender...she grows 9 different kinds! I would recommend this farm for any group that loves nature, beauty and wants a peaceful setting for any kind of gathering. read more

I stumbled upon this farm online as I was browsing events in the area. The next day, I decided to check it out on my day off. The moment I stepped in, I was greeted with such a sincere welcome and felt like I was part of the farm family. I found peace in the lavender field and enjoyed the serene scents and views of the butterflies dancing among the flowers. I was offered to take beautiful bouquets that were leftover from a wedding, and it just so happened that I was decorating my patio. As a lover of lavender I was so happy to find this place on Google. I drove all the way from Fayetteville and it was definitely worth the drive! I had my mother along with me and she also fell in love with the place. The shop is so cute and decorated beautifully with all of their lavender goods. We cut 2 bundles of lavender (1 bundle=25 stems, $10) and also sat and relaxed for awhile by the fields. I couldn't help but bring my camera to take photos. It was the perfect day for an outing like this. The staff are very friendly and they always willing to answer any questions. There's tour too! If you love lavender, gardening or even just looking for a new place to check out, this is a great spot. read more

I stumbled across Lavender Oak Farms on my instagram feed and was immediately drawn to a place that resembles the fields of Provence. We drove down the wooded private road off of Ferguson and came across two big barns and an open pavillion. The main barn building is the shoppe and venue for private events and the other is a historical barn that was brought here from Pennsylvania. Karen, the owner, greeted us with a warm welcome and immediately introduced herself. She told us about the fields and farm and how you were welcome to tour for $5 or take scissors and cut lavender (u pick) for $10. She also mentioned she conducts tours for larger groups and they host various events such as dinners or even weddings. The history of the farm and the business idea is very fascinating and Karen explained how her love and passion for lavender drove her to come up with the concept. Shoppe: The shoppe is filled with lavender products such as essential oils, lip balm, lotions, syrups, soaps and many more lavender scented items. Dried lavender hangs upside down and it is so fragrant. You can take a pair of scissors and rubber bands from the bin if you do the u pick option and there is a laminated menu that lists the types of lavender you will find in the fields. We were also instructed to not cut down too far since new lavender was growing. The peak season is June. Barn for Events: After you leave the shoppe, there is a beautiful barn venue for dinners and weddings. There was a dinner on July 19th with courses made from lavender by a local chef and Karen mentioned the dinners happen quarterly. The next one is in the fall and it looks like a very fun evening. Local beers are served as well as drinks made with lavender syrup. The chargers for the dinner were made of tree trunk cross sectional pieces and lavender filled sachets adorned the place setting. Karen mentioned they have one or two weddings a month and limit it because it is a farm and wants to perpetuate the tradition of lavender and its calming effects. Lavender fields: There are rows and rows of lavender identified by type such as Buena Vista, Melissa, Grosso, and Super. In total there are 9 and each one varies in its use and fragrance.There were even cascade hops that are prevalent California beers such as Sierra Nevada. Bees and butterflies flocked to the lavender fields and Karen said the bees get sleepy from the soothing effects of the lavender. The fragrance of the fields was so soothing and just a haven for tranquility, nature and relaxation in the outskirts of Chapel Hill. We were blown away by the beauty of the farm and now our car smells like lavender fields as we drive home. This is a memorable place and experience and so happy we found it. read more

Let me start by saying the farm is lovely. But, my husband and I attended a dinner that was disappointing. The food was served by table, and they ran out of seafood stew in one course, serving us a thin broth with frozen corn instead of the heaping bowls with seafood served to the owner's table. The main course protein was tough and overcooked, while the potatoes were undercooked. The owner's table was served steaming food and their plates were cleared before the last table was served lukewarm food. I later spoke with the chef, who apologized profusely and acknowledged there were problems in the kitchen. The owner never apologized and made no effort to make things right, even though I essentially had passed appetizers and a salad that evening for $100. read more
