I was not expecting to find such a beautiful jewel of a winery in Durham. I had seen reviews and had friends tell me how lovely it was, but I was still blown away at just how PRETTY everything was. My best friend and I had Friday, July 3rd off so we decided to get here when they opened at noon. There is what seems at first a long road from the highway to the winery. Since I was one of the first people there, I was a bit confused about where to park but figured it out relatively easily. Walking up to main building, I loved the view. I loved all the outdoor seating and the rooftop bars. I really liked all of the covered spaces. But since it was SO HOT, we decided to sit inside. We started with a pear cider that was delicious. ($7.50 pint). We went up to the roof to look around but decided it was more comfortable inside. I then got a Procecco Rose ($9) and my friend got a Moscato Rose. The bartender poured us samples of both and it would have been nice if we'd both liked the same ones and we could have shared a bottle, but no dice. We walked around the other buildings and would have LOVED to spent more time outside. But two drinks was all we needed especially since we didn't partake in the food trucks parked out front. We were there for about 1.5 hours and it really started to get crowded, so we decided that was our cue to leave. I got a Diet Coke (can $2) before I cashed out. All of the bartenders were super nice and helpful. Most seemed to know what they were serving and were knowledgeable about recommendations. Even the restrooms were beautiful. And very clean! I wore jean shorts and top, while my friend wore a sundress. I saw all sorts of different outfits so I don't think there is a particular dress code here. Overall this was SO MUCH fun. Will definitely do again when the weather turns cooler and will have a DD :) read more

I had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful winery/brewery twice on my extended trip to the Raleigh area, and both times were wonderful. This is not your average winery. It's a full-on experience with sweeping vistas, bubbling fountains, multiple venues (indoor and out), live music stages, food trucks, and even local craft vendors selling their wares. They have a full bar in one building, and in the main building you can choose from a wide assortment of wine, beer, and cider. There is basically something for everyone. One thing I appreciated about ZincHouse is that it's strictly 21+. And while I love kids, sometimes it's nice to enjoy a relaxing afternoon of adulting without worrying about little ones buzzing around you. I wish ZincHouse wasn't 2500 miles away. Despite the torrential downpour everyone had a really nice time!! Live music lively groups of people congregating the delicious food from the food trucks and of course the libations made the trip so worth while! Everyone was so pleasant dspite everyone having to head in for shelter! There is a vast selection of wines and beers to choose from so theres something for everyone's palate. This is a good place to come and chill. It has indoor, outdoor and even covered rooftop seating. It was hot yesterday, but the top overhead significantly reduced the temperature. The staff is friendly and there is even free live music. As far as drinks, not all the bars are equal but for a short walk, you can have wine, beer, spirits and a few fancy cocktails. Visited Hinnant with my daughter for their first Winery experience. We had such a great time. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and aestically pleasing. Beautiful winery and brewery to go with friends, sit outside and listen to music. This place has an upscale vibe, so I'd recommend dressing up a bit. No tee shirts and flip flops. There are so many seating options, we sat by small stage where guitarist played and we had a beautiful view of rolling meadows. You get your own drinks from inside where big stage is and then you can also go to various food trucks and get food. All of this is super easy. Both food trucks and Zinc House take cash or cards. I think hundreds of people can sit comfortably among all the seating areas, this is a big place. All of the staff were super helpful, many were busy picking up glasses as we finished. There is no rushing here, we were there for 3 hours and because there are so many tables, you never feel pressed to leave. You can bring snacks or food from home, although the website encourages you to support food trucks. We ate from middle eastern food truck, delicious hot food, reasonably priced. ZincHouse is a real gem. I enjoy coming here on a hot day with friends or family and for special occasions. Every time I visit the music and service does not disappoint no matter how crowded it may be that day - even on July 4th! The food trucks are great since there are so many options to choose from. I went this past Easter weekend and while it was crowded it was still very enjoyable since the place is very spacious. I wish I had taken pictures of my first time at ZincHouse. I would share them. What an experience. We were searching for a place to take family who was visiting from upstate New York and decided ZincHouse as an option. Close by, I had never ventured out to ZincHouse, but we always said we would eventually discover it when time permitted. This was the time. I was AMAZED, as was our family. Beautifully situated, even in the throes of the cold winter, the entrance to the place was stately and I could just tell that in the spring and summer it has to be breathtaking. Escorted in and to the first bar, beer and wine was offered. We elected to go upstairs to the sportsy bar as the UNC game was on. I went over to the other building to get a delicious bourbon double and returned to our party upstairs who had purchased wine bottle number 1. A couple of hours later, three bottles of wine later, and a few amazing sour Mango beers later, we all sat around and discussed what an awesome outing it was, and how memorable. A big score for the parents who want to return just so they can go back to the ZincHouse again. Hungry, we went to the food truck, and ordered some tasty food and carried back to the table and then left proclaiming that we would be back again very soon and partake in the fun for St Pats Day! ZincHouse has reasonably priced wine, a huge selection, and beautiful grounds - the scenery scenery / landscape cannot be beat in Durham. Driving up from the main entrance, it's like being transported - grand gates, sprawling vineyard. A few not ideal things to note: -If you go on a weekend night, parking will be brutal. It gets packed so you may need to park in the far lot and be golf carted in. It's a production. -As mentioned, it gets packed so ordering from one of the bars may take ages -No kids / babies - even during the day. It was pretty crowded but we had a great time regardless. All the wines and beers we had were delicious. I had the Cereal for Dinner Blonde Ale and then split a bottle of the Chenin Blanc with a friend. They have multiple bars throughout (inside, outside, upstairs, further upstairs, etc). There were a bunch of food trucks when we came as well. I prefer to drink red wine, but since we came mid summer when it was HOT I only had white wine and beer. What a find! I've been here a few times for book clubs and bigger group gatherings. I was shocked by how opulent and grand it was when I first pulled up - followed by an insane crowd and parking situation! But there is plenty of space for a crowd and they have a little shuttle driving people to and from parking, which was easy and quick! They have food trucks in the entrance, a few established restaurants, and places to purchase drinks! But it definitely feels like a free for all with no servers or staff. Zinc House offers a wide variety of things to do, you can do a wine tasting at their wine bar, a bourbon tasting at their House of Bourbon or smoke a cigar out by their cigar lounge! Absolutely love this winery & brewery!! Just moved to the area but have stopped by a few times now, really enjoy the ambiance and vibe here! Feels completely in the middle of nowhere; yet is just 15 minutes from downtown Durham. First off, food trucks line the entrance walkway (favorite one so far has been the empanada one)! Usually they have multiple trucks with different types of food- and have different ones on different days. Nice variety and something for everyone. Secondly, NO kids allowed (which actually makes for a much more peaceful experience). No exceptions; 21 and older ONLY. Multiple pavilions/bars that sell wine, beer, & cider- both inside and outside. Area out back to smoke cigars (can buy cigars on site), and everywhere outside is dog-friendly. I really appreciate that this place uses their grapes to make their own ciders, but then offers an EXTENSIVE list of outside wines (especially because I don't enjoy NC wine). The manager, David, makes our visit so special every time. We happened to meet him on our first day here (with our family), and he went out of his way to tell us about ZincHouse, recommend certain wines, and to show us around. I'm going to be as fair balanced as I can in my review. We had a group of about 30 sales people. At least 25 were from out of state. We did a wine tasting in a private room. The room was gorgeous. We had charcuterie boards. And because they have food trucks here they allowed us to bring pizza in to complement the boards. have to first say that the boards were very very affordable. The one I have pictured was $20. Now onto the experience. The wine tasting experience would be 1 a star itself. We were lectured to for 30 min before we even had a sip of wine. I felt like I was at a free gift for requiring us to listen to the time share or pyramid scheme pitch. It was painful. the interaction with the presenters were passive aggressive and boarder-line offensive at moments. The guy loved to hear himself speak.... But oh, we dare not speak (did you remember it's 30 SALES PEOPLE!?!). One of our leaders kindly asked him to move it along so we could enjoy the rest of the grounds, as we had a shuttle scheduled to pick us up. That triggered even more passive aggressive behavior. For the following two days of our sales meeting we used this as an example of what never to do with customers. They made a lasting impression on all of us in the worst way possible. after we escaped the hell of the tasting there were food truck, live music, and a bourbon bar to enjoy. It was a chill vibe. Mostly outside. But the option to sit inside. I imagine they list what food trucks they have on what days. We didn't partake in that. I've been to Zinchouse more times than I can count and can't believe I've never written a review. I love that they built this gem just a few miles from my house. It's absolutely beautiful and they host some really fun events. I especially love going there to listen to live music, to attend vendor events, or to attend their annual St. Patrick's Day party. They always have food trucks on site and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and parking. There are also beautiful places for photo ops. They make their own beer and have plans to make their own wine in the future. The property is huge and beautiful. You can grab a beer, glass of wine, or cocktail and walk around the beautiful expansive grounds. Cocktails are only served in the whiskey house, which makes sense. I'm very excited to see that they have done some construction to expand the bar in the whiskey house. I can't wait to see what that means. They allow dogs, but no dogs are allowed in any of the buildings. They do not allow anyone under the age of 21 to set foot on the grounds at all, and for good reason. Unsupervised children damaged many things on the property in the first year they were open. Then they allowed children during the day time and stated that all children had to leave the property by 6pm. Horrible parents started placing their kids IN THE CAR and then went back to drink more! Zinchouse was pretty much forced into the no kid rule. I fully support this. Please note, not all bars at Zinchouse serve the same things! I do hate that! If I'm drinking a particular wine or a particular beer and we've moved on to a different bar on the property I want to be able to get my same beer or wine at the bar I'm currently near. This would not be as big of a problem if not for two issues. Number one is that not all bars have a menu posted so there is no way to know that that particular bar does not serve the drink you want until you have waited in an incredibly long line to find that out. I do think they are working on this though as I see that the whiskey house bar now has a menu board. This brings me to problem number two. What is the deal with the lines? I honestly thought that the long lines were forming everywhere because that's how the younger generation of drinkers goes about getting a drink anywhere they go. I learned from one of the bartenders that the lines are instituted by the owners! We used to walk right up to the bar and get a drink real quick. If you try that now you will be scolded and told to go to the end of the long line. Any bartender can tell you that they can serve a crowd way faster and way more efficiently if they can just serve people without the ridiculous lines. I said this to the bartender and he agreed but stated the owner does not understand that. I'm guessing the owners were never bartenders. I honestly feel bad for the bartenders because they would make much more in tips if they were allowed to serve drinks at the bars like a bar. This is my biggest complaint about Zinchouse and sadly my husband will no longer go there with me because he hates this problem so much. This means I am going there significantly less than I did before and drinking less when I do go because I have to drive myself home. Please fix this! I want this to be the 5 star review that it could be! read more

Beautiful vineyard and venue in Durham near Falls Lake. I've heard positive things about Zinchouse and decided to make a trip up on a cool fall Sunday. They have ample parking spaces in a large gravel lot. Expect a short walk especially at busy times. We first attended a lovely yoga class hosted by Serenity Farm Yoga. Reservations are required. The 1 hour class was suitable for most levels and cost $15. The class took place in a beautiful building (event room?) to the left of the boutique. This building offered ample space, ideal ambient temperature, and clean bathrooms. The stall locks are just a little tricky to use. After yoga, we walked over to the winery. In addition to wine, they sell beer and several food trucks offered burgers, pizza, and sweets. They seem well staffed and the employees are friendly. The bartender serving us patiently explained what they offered, showed us the menu, and provided recommendations. I chose the Smith & Hook Cabernet Sauvignon, a glass cost $15. The wine is pricy, however, it was enjoyable and I would choose it again. The views of the vineyard and pond are beautiful. Looking out over the vineyards while sipping wine and listening to the fountain was dreamy. Even as the tables fill up and the sounds of running water are drowned with conversation, the calming atmosphere of the vineyard remains. We enjoyed slowly sipping the wine and conversing. The weather was perfect, however, on colder days they do have heaters outside (and indoor seating). Overall, we enjoyed our visit and recommend this winery to others! read more

I went to ZincHouse this Sunday to meet up with some friends. I have been meaning to come out here since it open and this place did not disappoint. While it feels like it is out in the middle of nowhere, it is apparently about 15 minutes from downtown Durham (I was coming from Raleigh). It is tucked away but the grounds itself are absolutely massive. When I got there, it was busy. I was lucky to find a parking spot though it appears they have plenty. This is a 21+ spot so it is not kid friendly. They have tons of indoor and outdoor seating and they also had a bunch of food trucks there, as well as live music. I partook of their prosecco selection, which was $11.38 with tax. This is a great place to come and hangout with friends and to enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon. I can't comment on the food as I've never ordered from any of the trucks, but they have about 4-6 trucks so plenty to choose from (We always go on the weekend, not sure if the trucks are there during the week). I came on a Sunday afternoon for a meetup event/ the gimmick was to Find Our Person. Well, that's probably never going to happen in my lifetime, but I definitely had a fun time. We gathered on the second floor of the main building. and it felt like I was back in the Blue Ridge Mountains up near Charlottesville. That area is known for an abundance of wineries and breweries with open views and hosting live entertainment. an amazing getaway. That's the kind of image that Zinchouse evokes. It felt like being back in a mountain retreat yet I was only 25 minutes north of downtown Raleigh. The decor was super cool, with statues of the Blues Brothers by the stage. there was also a lot of art dedicated to the Prohibition era. Sometimes, you really need an escape and this place is just that. They have a very cool staff, they did a good job helping me find a beverage that I was happy to have. the Two Birds, One Stone was an excellent beer. For food, they do bring in food trucks, but you can bring your own food if you choose. Oh and you can bring dogs as long as they stay outside! read more

Unfortunately kids are not welcome so keep that in mind and plan ahead with arrangements for a sitter beforehand. Lots of food trucks. I forget the one I ordered from but it was the first truck on your left hand side when you walk up. I got some sort of braised pork atop potatoes thing which was good. All in all a good experience and would recommend. This place would be great for events, girls night out, guys night out, date night, or basically anything you can think of. A Triangle hidden gem! About a 20 minute drive from Durham, this is a must visit. It's so beautiful. This was the first time my wife and I went here. We didn't even know it existed until we found it by accident today... on Yelp, of course! The driveway is very long, and overflow parking is along the driveway. Up front, I would never give this place 5 stars because the driveway and all parking are gravel. By the time we left, our car was totally covered in dust and needed to be washed. There were four food trucks. My understanding is that they rotate. We got food from the Mediterranean truck. It was quite good. There are 3 levels where you can sit. There's inside and outside seating on all levels. We sat at on the top level outside, looking over the front area. The employees are very nice and the service is great. Everybody had a smile the whole time.. Unlike most wineries, you can get a lot of beers beers here. In our casual observation, we saw 2 beers for every glass of wine. Even my wife had to beer, and she's normally not a beer drinker. The facility was clean and we saw no trash anywhere. All of the tables were bussed as well. A highly recommended And we will definitely be going back.. read more

I'm editing my original/ below review. ZincHouse replied and that makes a difference - They acknowledge and are addressing the issue I had an issue with. Customer service makes the difference. One can have a horrible experience but when businesses step up and address with changes being made -- well, that matters! Our experience at ZincHouse was great - food trucks offered something for everyone, the music / band was amazing! The setting and entire venue is super nice, and made for a nice afternoon & evening. I look forward to returning with more friends, and experiencing the new bar arrangement. BTW - this was our first visit, only experienced and saw 2 bars -- maybe try and let that be known -- 6 bars is good info, and glad now to know it. Lines for bar drinks are way too long and way to slow -- prepare ahead and staff properly - this will impact my return and referral read more
