The full kitchen was the perfect place to stash our bevvies and snacks too. Lee, was so attentive and helpful, providing clear instructions and communication. I asked for a different barstool so I could work at the counter in the mornings and he brought one right over!! So appreciated. Hubby enjoyed the tv and couch and it was a nice spacious living room. Love the walls and the artwork. The location is great with a quick walk down the stairs for a good meal or to stroll down the street. Would definitely return! Parking is a little different, we ended up paying $10 to park most nights but it was worth it to have a spot under cover to us.

After site seeing during the day it was great to come back here and visit their tap room for local beers, wine & food if we were still hungry and then sit by the nightly fire. We used the full hookups with our class B travel van while our friends came in thief 40' massive RV's. The restrooms and showers at Black Elk Resort are beautiful,very clean and much larger than the shower in our Van so we used them nightly! They also have a laundry room. Bring your quarters. They also have many cute cabins although we did not have a need for them on this trip. We will be staying here again on our next trip to South Dakota and Custer State Park!

Mt Rushmore, Custer state Park, Crazy Horse etc. There is a beautiful covered patio area with BBQ's you can use & a nightly camp fire. Also, a bar, which we didn't frequent. Reality, we were disappointed from the moment we pulled in. The grass was NOT green like the pictures. I realize it was end of season, but, it was 90°! Why not water the lawn? We stayed in the front of the park, right next to the main road. Loud!! Not happy. The website pictures certainly don't show that! Our sights were so slanted, we had to use all of our blocks to jack up our trailer so we were level. Not happy. The water was BROWN! We had to use our water filter & run the water for quite awhile before it was semi clear. Needless to say, we bought bottled water for cooking & drinking. The water was ok for a few days, then almost zero water pressure for showers. By the last day, the water turned disgustingly brown again. Our water filter had turned from clear white to dark brown. Wish I could post a picture of it. We would never stay there again, due to these issues. Just want people to be aware, websites are not what they appear to be.

This mountain lodge is situated off highway 16 in Hill City, SD. It's conveniently located within 10 miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial. I'd highly recommend this place to coworkers, friends, and family members!!! We really enjoyed our stay and I'm pretty confident that we would return for another visit at this lodging location!!!!

The beds were comfortable, the kitchen, fridge and stove allowed us to prepare meals (we didn't use the grill outside but would have if we weren't touring so much). We appreciated the TV with cable, the "living room area" and the covered porch area where my wife sat out and had her coffee each morning. This spot was perfect for day trips to Custer State Park, The Mammoth Site, Mount Rushmore, Deadwood and so many others. The only minor issue we experienced was that we came during an unprecedented heat wave, and there's one air conditioner for the whole unit. They do provide fans, but this meant we couldn't close doors at night without rooms getting warm. All pretty minor and not something that would matter during normal seasonal temps. We'd definitely recommend this place. It is very affordable and provides plenty of room for your family.

Two bathrooms with the most adorable shower curtain give you everything you need! Stays nice and warm and opens up to a front deck that has a view. Some traffic below as you are not too far from the main road. However, the placement of the cabin really helps! And plenty of trees around. Definitely recommend!!

There is a picnic table and a set of four chairs so you can sit and enjoy a beer or cup of coffee either under a roof or in the sunshine.
