The outside of our house was looking pretty shoddy 8 years after a mediocre paint job. Nick F. and his crew did a great job from beginning to end. Nick's initial visit included a tour around the house, and he explained the different types of paint that are available and pointed out areas of the house that needed some attention. A member of the team came the weekend prior to the initial paint prep day to power wash the house and then the paint crew spent two days prepping the place. My vintage home has been through a lot of interior projects over the last 8 years, including reconstruction. I decided that this year I could finally take care of all the main floor painting, starting with the farmhouse kitchen and interior back porch. The house was built in 1894. Mostly tongue and groove woodwork and high ceilings. Crown molding, chair rail, fully trimmed doorways with rosettes, High ceiling in the kitchen. The interior back porch was reconstructed and has some dry wall along, with redwood siding, and a painted wood floor. On the initial walkthrough we talked about how much to "repair" versus minimize the wear and tear. In a vintage home, one expects to see some imperfection. I call my home perfectly imperfect. Nick Foster, project manager, would check in with me to see how things were going and discuss the use of a different paint for better adhesion. The crew, and Nick Foster, showed up on time Monday the 22nd. We agreed on an earlier start for the rest of the work week. The project required two + days of prepping. When the paint started going on, I was thrilled. The 2-person crew put in full days and always cleaned up at the end of the day. During the day they had my kitchen cabinets and appliances draped in plastic, but always pulled it back enough for me to be able to access things at night. I have a vintage Wedgewood stove that needed to be moved a few inches. I removed the warming drawer, the burner covers, and the broiler door and that helped lighten the load by probably 30-40 pounds. The stove was carefully slid out, to paint behind. After they were done, the stove was carefully moved back. Throughout the 5 days the crew was very respectful of my home. The 2-person crew was extremely respectful of my proximity to the work and my occasional interruption as I came downstairs to use the toilet, which was in the painting zone. My dog loved seeing them every day, but I kept him upstairs with me and out of the way. I have already decided to use them again to paint my living room and front sitting room. They made me sign a docusign setting an appointment date that they failed to keep. Planned to meet Monday. Monday comes and they reschedule to Tuesday 7:30am. Great he is getting an early start. Tue 7:30 comes, I get a text to push back to 9am bc they didn't see the email I sent them even though they replied to my email. They come at 9 do another walk through that they did months ago when I scheduled the work. Nick tells me he will talk over new estimate with his contractor at brunch while eating pancakes. Our experience with N Style Painting was stellar from start to finish. 1) I made an appt through the online app the night before and Nick committed to coming the next day! We were skeptical if anyone would show, but Nick came on time and was very thorough during the walk-through. 2) I received a quote the next morning detailing everything we discussed. I had a TON of patchwork and details that needed work on. He explained to me how everything would be power washed, caulked and sealed (repaired if need). I was a bit shocked at the price since it's been 15yrs since my last exterior paint job, but realized N Style's quote is competitive and is worth every penny. 3) I signed the contract a week later and provide my 10% deposit right before the start of the project. They scheduled my project a month later which was a bit of wait, but I understood that everyone was working from home due to covid and also calling him up and keeping him very busy. I did email to remind Nick on Friday if all is set to start my job on Monday. Nick immediately sent the power washer guy out on Saturday and cleaned the house b/f paint. The crew came everyday at 7am-4:30pm Mon-Thurs. 4) Nick's paint crew was the BEST! They kept everything clean and prepped everything to the T! I hire a lot of contractors and this crew stood above it all. They were more than painters, they repaired cracks in the stucco and caulked all the louvres and seams, I could not be happier to know my house is ready for any winter storms in the many years to come!! Nick himself did the walk through and it was nice to have his seal of approval on the work. My overall recommendation is to stay on top of the start date. They are worth the wait. Alejandro and his helper did an amazing job of caulking, taping, and clearing areas in the yard in preparation. When it came to a confusing decision on body color and trim, Nicholas couldn't have been of more help. There was no rush to the process, and he was very open to having me get several small cans of color to do test swatches on house. When painting began, Alejandro again went into great effort to see that everything surrounding the house was covered and safe from paint overspray. When it came time to apply the final trim, both Nicholas and Alejandro helped make suggestions, and had great input for assuring a beautiful result. I love how my house looks now. Monday 12/9 comes, and since I didn't receive any additional confirmation, I called Nick that morning to confirm. He asked to move the appointment to 9:30 am, to which I agreed. I waited for him until 10 am but he never showed up. I even called his phone twice and left a voicemail but he never picked up. Later in the day, Nick called me back apologizing for a scheduling error on his end and asked if we could reschedule for late afternoon. I gave him another chance and agreed to the 2nd appointment. The scheduled time comes and goes again and Nick is a no show. I called his phone again but he never picked up or returned my call. NStyle just completed the exterior repaint of our two-story house and garage, and we couldn't be more satisfied. There is nothing to complain about. At the outset, we were pleased with the estimate process and clear bid, broken down into a couple of options we requested. They offer a color consultation and swatches, which was very valuable to us. The process and bid were both favorable compared to one other housepainting firm. For the work, we appreciated the attention to detail and the effort taken to get into some difficult spots. We needed a fascia board replaced on a high point of the roof, and it helped that they have a carpenter on staff, under their insurance, integrated with their schedule. The competing vendor did not have that. The two Nicks who manage the business at the office and in the field were great to work with, as were their crew leads.
