I feel taken care of and heard which is really important when you're pregnant. She doesn't rush your appointments at all

I should have carefully considered going here after reading Ponnie's review. The front desk pressures you to pay a co-pay regardless if you know your insurance fully covers a women's wellness. I should've requested a bill instead to save me a headache. And if you are a new patient, they submit a separate procedure code to bill the insurance for an office visit. Which states there was a 30 min time period needed on their end to get to know your medical background/history. I received maybe at most 20 mins total of my appointment with little efforts to know my history. Which included a dismissal of endometriosis concerns even when my sister and mother are both diagnosed and the first time meeting this doctor ever. But doctors know best I guess. I was then owed the difference between what I had paid in the office and what was the final bill (which still shouldn't have been charged considering I was only there for a women's wellness exam). A $19 difference. The office manager took her time to even get back to me after having to call twice over two weeks of waiting. Finally, after all that, my amount that was due to me was then reduced even more so by a "card fee" that I had to cover I guess even though it did not state on the transaction or receipt. Did not want to waste anymore time dealing with this office. Just know if you are coming in for an appointment, ask thoroughly what procedure codes will be billed to your insurance so you don't expect any surprises and have them send a bill to you instead of paying up front. read more

DO NOT GO TO HER!!! She charges for co-pay even if you're allowed one visit a year for women's wellness checkup without having to pay a co-pay. They didn't mentioned this to me when I made the appointment, but when I got there they said I have to pay $85 because it was their policy. While I spoke to my insurance and was told that shouldn't have been the case. I have never had to pay a co-pay for my annual gyno visit as a PPO member. they said they would reimburse my $85 once the insurance paid them. They got the money from insurance and refuse to reimburse me saying that because other matters were discussed beside pretty much shutting up and having my pap done. all I asked for was a refill on a prescription. read more

Dr. Khodai is hands down the best doctor I've ever had. She is incredibly knowledgeable, extremely kind and compassionate. Her energy is the best! I've felt very comfortable in her presence since day 1. I don't trust easily, but I absolutely have trusted her with my entire pregnancy process. I wouldn't want anyone else to deliver my baby at this point!! She's highly professional and an expert at what she does. Her staff members are super sweet. I absolutely love every time I visit her office. I usually hate going to appointments/doctors, but I genuinely look forward to each visit I have. Her and her team are the best of the best. My delivery went very smooth and throughout my entire pregnancy, she showed me how much she cared about what she does and how attentive she is to each of her patients. I'm very grateful for Naghmeh Khodai and very thankful that I had such a smooth and easy delivery. I had to have an episiotomy during delivery and it went very well. Also, when my baby was born, his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, plus I was having a hard time pushing and she was extremely quick with her reactions and made me feel so very comfortable throughout the entire process. I came in for a routine preventive screening, which should be fully covered under insurance, yet they initially tried to charge me a copay. I pushed back, and they eventually agreed I shouldn't be charged but then warned me that any discussion beyond a pap smear or basic breast exam would be billed as a separate visit. That's absurd. I'm in my 40s and have had many well visits over the years, and I've never experienced anything like this. I wanted to ask about my irregular periods and hormone changes, but was told point-blank that doing so would result in additional charges. How is a woman supposed to get comprehensive care when asking normal, age-appropriate questions is considered "extra"? The breast exam was done with such little attention that it shouldn't even count. She didn't check underarms or side breast tissue, which are key areas. She should not be screening anyone for anything. This kind of care is not only dismissive, it's potentially dangerous. I left feeling deeply disappointed and actually saddened. read more

When it comes to picking a doctor, especially for women's care, I'm pretty particular. I found Dr. Kohdai on Healthgrades and yelp and she was incredible. I arrived on time for my annual women's checkup and they got me in the room/office immediately. Dr. Khodai soon joined me and asked me if I had any questions whatsoever to do with my health. She listened attentively to all my questions about aging, my eggs, fertility, and answered every single question I had. She even joked with me and was incredibly personable. She checked me out for breast lumps, and then went in for the deep dive swab that we all know and love. She was quick, painless, and got the job done. Annual women's appointments are far from a good time, but I'll tell you what, Dr. Khodai made it just about as enjoyable, quick and easy as could ever be. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Dr. Khodai is Truly Amazing! Being pregnant for the second time, I expected my appointments to feel rushed, but with Dr. Khodai, it was the complete opposite. She actually took the time to slow things down and genuinely wanted to sit and talk with me--what a refreshing experience! At my second visit, we had an in-depth conversation about my biggest concern: having a VBAC. Since my first birth was a C-section, I was really hoping for a natural delivery this time. Dr. Khodai was kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. I would absolutely recommend her to any expectant mother! However, I do want to share something important for other moms in my situation--Dr. Khodai no longer conducts trial labor for VBAC births due to the risks involved. My heart sank hearing this, but I completely respect her decision as a medical professional. Now, I'm exploring other options and opinions, as I've heard that the longer the healing time after a C-section, the better the chances of a successful VBAC.(its been 8 years since my first pregnancy) If you're looking for a compassionate, thorough, and caring OB-GYN, Dr. Khodai is absolutely incredible! read more

An update to my last review-the business manager called to explain that they do accept Medicare patients. However Medicare will not always cover the cost for preventative checkups so it is up to the patient to pay. We agreed that something was lost in explanation by the staff member and that retraining was in order not to mention the timing of the calls. I thanked her for calling. read more

Won't be returning. What's wrong with this office??? I specifically asked for pain management for iud insertion. It's why I chose this office. And guess what? They didn't have pain management available (nitrous). Then months later when I was having significant pain for another issue -- they were unable to expedite my ultrasound results. All it took was a phone call to say expedite. Or urgent. The office staff is Disorganized, ineffective, and totally lacks urgency for medical health issues with young women. read more

My labor/delivery experience with Dr. Nagmeh Khodai was a negative experience. I gave birth to my son in the wee hours of a Monday morning in 2019, and it was clear from the start that Dr. Khodai didn't want to be there that night. In fact, she even asked me while I was almost ready to start pushing if I wanted to have another doctor deliver me. To her credit, she toned her attitude down once she realized all three epidurals I had received had failed and that I was clamping my eyes shut not to be rude but because I was in a lot of pain. Dr. Khodai gave me an episiotomy that I didn't want or consent to, as well as a vacuum extraction. These are the type of interventions that women typically have when there's an emergency or the baby is in distress. This was not the case for me, and if I remember correctly, she only used one "pump" of the vacuum - so both procedures seemed unnecessary, but it did presumably give Dr. Khodai another line item on her invoice. Which brings me to another point, while I was pregnant, I received a random package of Similac formula in the mail from Abbot Pharmaceuticals. I was confused about where this came from and who gave them my information since I wanted to breastfeed and Dr. Khodai explained to me that she wanted all of her patients to "benefit" from access to formula. Any OBGYN would be aware that breastfeeding is in the best interest of a baby's health. So, did Dr. Khodai receive some financial kick-back from selling her patient data to a pharmaceutical company, or is she just anti-breastfeeding? Since I'm over 35, I opted for genetic testing done at Dr. Khodai's office but what wasn't explained to me by Dr. Khodai is that separate from the affordable $225 California State genetic testing is an unnecessary test from a shady company called Progenity that isn't covered by insurance. I later received a bill for $7,500 for this one test that was performed at the same time at the state testing. Not a typo - that is a bill for seven thousand five hundred dollars. My health insurance said the cost for this test should only be $1,328 at most, but because Progenity is out of network, they can basically charge whatever they want. Coincidentally, Progenity just settled a multi-million dollar lawsuit with the government over fraudulent billing practices. To quote the San Diego Tribune: "According to the Justice Department, Progenity misrepresented the tests it performed, resulting in overbilling Medicaid and Veterans Affairs health insurance programs. It also tried to get doctors to order Progenity tests by paying them excessive 'draw fees'and providing meals and happy hours for physicians and their staff." Towards the end of my pregnancy, Dr. Khodai's office also sent my bloodwork to an out-of-network lab, even though all of my labs previously went to an in-network lab, so I had to pay out of pocket for labs that otherwise would have been covered by insurance at no cost to me. Anyway, I could write more about this awful experience, like how Dr. Khodai was very dismissive of my birth plan, which really should have been a red flag, but I think I've said enough to hopefully warn anyone considering having Dr. Khodai deliver their baby. She definitely seemed "sweet" and "compassionate" during all of my appointments with her leading up to my birth, but she was an entirely different person during delivery at the hospital and not a nice one. read more

My appointment couldn't have gone any better!Doctor Khodai was so kind and answered all of my questions without getting annoyed or rushed . She works with you to address your health concerns, rather than just telling you what to do. She wants to make sure you and her are on the same page and comfortable. With one visit I can definitely say she goes out of her way to care for her patients. Her assistant Lupe was also very helpful. She was super sweet and caring and had a great personality. We just clicked! My delivery experience was super smooth and really great from start to end. It has taken me years to write this review because I was too afraid to share a bad experience when it's not always the same for everyone. And the only reason I did was because a recent person went through the same experience. I had a horrible birth experience. I should have know that when I told her I was aiming for a natural birth (but was obviously open to an epidural), she wasn't a fan nor supportive at all. I showed up at the hospital at almost 9. She was extremely upset. "Who does she think she is" said a nurse as I was in the bathroom attempting to change into a gown in extreme pain. Tried to give me pitocin at 10 because I wasn't going fast enough. Declined. Obviously. Made me push before I was ready. Since having another kid with a completely different experience (I needed to push, baby was out in a minute) I wonder if she gave me an IV of something to take the edge off. I had no real pain between contractions/pushing. Only pushed because she told me to. I didn't have to push at all until at the end. She had me push for an hour and a half. Because I was taking so long (WELP), she threatened to use a vacuum unless I pushed harder. Ended up giving me an episiotomy which she didn't tell me about, she just did. Took the baby away for over 4 minutes instead of going skin to skin just to do all the measurements. On top of that, got charged for a c-section somehow? I dunno, would like the believe this isn't the norm. But I would get multiple calls and emails after every appointments to leave good reviews and it was so annoying during pregnancy I just did (elsewhere, before birth) to get them to stop asking me. Wonder if that's why there's a lot? Maybe just being cynical, but an all around terrible experience. read more

One word. Horrible. This doctor had absolutely zero bed side manner, was sarcastic, demeaning, and generally unkind. This appointment was a huge deal for my fiancé, myself and our family as we have been trying to get pregnant for over a year with no luck, and we were extremely anxious for the appointment to finally get some answers, as one can imagine. (see women's health specialist review for office staff) My insurance picked Dr Khodai when I was pregnant with my oldest and I was a bit weary because I had no experience with her nor did any of my friends. I was a handful pregnancy because I had chronic migraines and she never hesitated to look something up or refer me to someone to assist. She is kind, compassionate, and you never feel like you are rushed. She patiently and lovingly guided me through successful pregnancies and than helped me find the appropriate birth control to stop the baby train. I couldn't recommend Dr. Khodai enough nor could I imagine having delivered with any other doctor. My first appointment with Khodai was not pregnancy related, but rather I had been experiencing something that was not normal. In seeing Dr. Khodai for the first time, she took the time to really listen what I was going through and explained what might have been going on. That was followed up with a second appointment in which determined what ultimately was happening to me which led to scheduling a non-invasive surgery. This was also the first surgery I had in my life and she did a great job in explaining what was going to happen to help calm my nerves. A few years later, this year actually, Dr. Khodai delivered my first child. The monthly and weekly check ups were great as she answered any and all questions my husband and I had as soon to be first time parents - no matter how silly the question was. I actually had to be induced 38w due to blood work from a week prior. Dr. Khodai checked in on us the night before induction and the day after delivery. During the morning of delivery, I had explained that I still felt pain despite receiving epidural and she immediately had the nurses double check on me. The epidural was administered incorrectly unfortunately, but the fact that Dr. Khodai had the nurses check in on me due to discomfort showed how much she does care for her patients. My daughter was born later that night and again, couldn't imagine having gone with another doctor as Dr. Khodai has a a genuine way of connecting with her patients and ensuring you feel extremely comfortable. read more

As a former breast cancer patient, I have been concerned to have a gynaecologist who understands my emotional situation. I needed to have a routine check-up and a doctor who actually cares to listen and follow up with my medical report. Luckily my dentist introduced me to Dr Khodai, saying she is her patient and completely satisfied. So, I switched to Dr Khodai because I have a very good dentist and trust her judgement. I will recommend her and on top of her professional expertise, she is nice and humble and a good listener. Some doctors have no patience and while you are talking to them, they are writing their report or not paying attention.  She is an exceptional person and I am so happy to find such a good gynaecologist. I've had my annual well woman exam with Dr. Khodai for a few years - so my experience with her is quite limited (5 minute exams). However, every time I've needed a mammogram, which I just started getting due to being 40, the office has been very challenging to work with. It always requires me calling the office at least 2 times to get the doctor's order emailed to me, so I can be sure to have it - as once I missed my mammogram after the office didn't return my phone call after a couple of times and Breastlink didn't receive the doctor's order from Dr. Khodai's office. I've confirmed with Breastlink that they send a request to the doctor office 2 days before a mammogram is due - Dr. Khodai's staff just doesn't seem to send those back to Breastlink. I've learned to start 2 weeks in advance before I need a mammogram/ultrasound to allow time for me to follow up with the office a couple of times. This week I had another ultrasound (there was one issue to be watched outside of the normal annual mammogram), and the doctor's order provided by Dr. Khodai's office was wrong - it was for a full annual mammorgram, not the follow up - so, my takeway is they're very rushed with too many patients, which leads to errors. Luckily, Breastlink was able to figure out what I needed to have done by looking at my records (which Dr. Khodai's office didn't do), as I'm not an expert at managing mammograms (yet!)...Dr. Khodai's office is giving me a crash course. Just a reminder that we have to be our own advocates to receive good care today. And, with an abnormal mammogram at my first mammogram, the doctor never called me - which I think would be a nice gesture to help patients who are entirely new to mammograms, as an abnormal one can feel daunting and scary. If I need anything beyond a well woman exam, I probably would not feel comfortable going to this office. I haven't spend enough time with Dr. Khodai to have an opinion of her, but her staff is very, very mediocre and I wouldn't trust them. Again, maybe they have too many patients to provide good care, giving them the benefit of the doubt. read more

I found Dr. Khodai when looking for a new OBGYN by reading her glowing yelp reviews. It was so easy to make an appointment, I got in 2 weeks after calling (which was amazing because most places take months to get an appointment). The ladies at the front desk were super nice and made the whole process really easy for me. Dr. Khodai was so nice and comforting and took a really long time to sit and talk to me about everything I was concerned about. Always nervous when seeing a new Doctor. I was on yelp reading reviews hoping to find an exceptional ob/gyn and I was impressed what patients had to say about Dr. Khodai. I just left her office. The office staff were all smiles and very kind. Dr. Khodai is amazing! She put me at ease immediately. She took her time to go over my medical history, I didn't feel rushed at all. Dr Khodai is the best OB you can ask for. My wife randomly picked her as our OB doctor due to our HMO plan. We were nervous at first but we found her to be very caring. She took good care of my wife. Later on when we found out my wife had a rare pregnancy complication, Dr Khodai was on top it and made sure my wife delivered via C SECTION without any complications. Most of all I was amazed as to the preparation she went through to make sure the delivery room was well staffed with another senior OB doctor and extra nurses on hand in case of any complications. She did not try to pretend to be the best [I think she is anyway] and had extra help at her side. She also helped my wife with pregnancy leave from work due to her complication as well and helped us maneuver all the paperworks. Thank you Dr khodai. read more

Dr. Khodai is a compassionate physician and skilled surgeon. She delivered both of my children via C-section at West Hills Hospital. Dr. Khodai is always prompt, attentive, and professional. She keeps a firm grip and never dropped our babies! That is a major consideration when selecting an OBGYN. My wife and I are glad we found Dr. Khodai! Dr. Khodai's staff seem friendly and capable. I absolutely love Dr. Khodai and her staff. They are so sweet and helpful. They always seem like I matter to them and that my questions and concerns are a priority. They have been with me through 2 surgeries and 4,tomorrow will be 5 IUs. Dr. Khodai always seems happy, upbeat and positive. I can feel her pulling for us to get pregnant.
