The pier is very pretty and you have a nice view, and yes the pier also needs maintenance and repairs. Also they charge a entrance fee but it's not much. The guys in the shop are very knowledgeable about all things fishing. I absolutely luv it. Definitely worth a check out. read more

Went there couple days ago. Paid the $15.00 each for the day. Wanted to fish outer end of pier but it was taken over by king mackerel and Cobia fishermen. Had pin rigs and set lines all around the end. tourists and random fishermen weren't welcome out there. Never going back there. I miss the days on the old Kittyhawk pier. read more

Beautiful view of the water! Imagine the glorious sunrises and sunsets to be seen from this pier. Lots of fishing going down on this well kept pier, lined with colorful picnic tables. The little store attached to the pier sells fishing equipment, souvenirs, t-shirts and other sundries. There's a small charge for entering the pier, and another larger fee for fishing. "Good view of nags head beach. It needs maintenance." We thought it is public pier but it was a private one and they charge $2/person to go out there. We roam around fishing pier, it gives a good view of nags head beach. Sand dunes and beach houses behind it give picture card view. Sunset from here looks quite amazing. It is quite an old pier as at the end of the pier when waves bump into wood logs, platform got quite shaky. I got scared first. Whoops.. Just on the pier, there is a restaurant (Nags head pier restaurant). you must try that. read more

What the other customers have said about rude employees is totally true. But if they think the employees are jerks, they should meet the owner. He is a perfect example of the Napoleon syndrome and he's two-faced. He'll tell you one thing one day and forget. He even talked to you the next. The Avalon Pier on the Outer Banks Pier are much better choices. Oh and the restaurant at nags Head Pier. It's just frozen s*** in a bag.. dumped in a fryer.. and it's no wonder they had a hiring all positions sign up all summer and they still have one up because it's a crappy place to work because I've been there done that read more

I haven't fished here since I was a kid, but from watching other fishermen it seems like the catches are still good. The staff has always been very nice, and they've always kept the place clean. The restaurant on the pier has really good food, so check them out. They have a little store that sells a few things. And bathrooms. From listening to the discussions, everyone seemed pleased with their visits, and you can tell there are a few regulars who everyone knows by name. Thinking we might be taking a little fishing trip here soon. Maybe start a new tradition with my own kiddos. So needless to say, we'll be heading back. read more

I went to this pier at sunrise to take sunrise photos (no fishing). Cost is $1.50 to walk on the pier. Clerk reminded me the pass was valid until 5am the next morning & invited me to do sunset photos there as well. The pier is of a good length and is maintained well. I stayed out of the fishermen's way and they gave me plenty of space to do my photos. Pleasant experience. read more

first I'd like to say that I have fished here every other Saturday for about 4 months. this Saturday was a terrible experience. a "man" named Tom turned the lights off and left us in complete darkness to unbait and load our fishing gear, in the process I jammed a hook into my palm, told Tom the only pier employe working about the incident and he said " oh well". horrible customer service, nasty attitude and a ruined family event. my friends and I will NEVER fish here again. Worst pier experience ever!!! y'all have been warned. I will be going to the outter bank's fishing pier from now on and filling a formal complaint Monday morning about this "person" but I doubt anything will be done. read more

I can't leave a 0 review. We were asked to leave because of our service Dog, even though he was vested and we had all his certification with us. Sold us tickets even though he was easily seen. Going to OBX every year this is one of our stops for fishing. This year we got a lot of fishes. We even saw dolphins at the end of the pier! The only bad thing is the person behind the counter. He's very racist and judgmental. Every time we come, we get stared down because we're the only Asians there. And if we leave to go get something from the car, the guy would always shout and say "hey you need a ticket!" And we would show him the ticket and he goes "I'll get you next time ". read more

Been coming to the nags head pier for years and always enjoy having a drink, a meal or walking out on the pier. I Was disappointed the outside heater wasn't working this time as it was a cool evening and wanted to sit in the tiki bar. Over the years little has changed....well maybe the Bloody Mary is a little smaller....I'm not sure if it's local catch but everything we ever have had is perfectly prepared and a good value. The employee behind the counter was extremely rude and demeaning to my friend and I when we asked to sightsee on the pier. I don't recall ever being treated that way as a customer. You can't beat the atmosphere and the outdoor deck for dining or drinks. Unfortunately, a below-average quality of food combined with a very slow kitchen ruin what could otherwise be the best treasure in town. They have serious kitchen problems. I stayed in cottage 4. If this was a review for the cottage, I would give it 1 star. Cockroaches, mice, ciggerette smell, dirty beds, stinky bathroom, busted television, loud door next door that opens and closes all morning from 6a-10a, and grumpy employees!! I paid too much for this. I tolerated it...on a vacation. Never coming back here ever again. I WOKE UP WITH A COCKROACH IN MY HAIR. The restaurant is phenomenal and the ladies working there are nice. Went to walk out with my family tonight and was left waiting for an eternity for anybody to come to the register so I could pay the walk out admission fee. No body shows up so we decided to peak outside to find any staff, we are then confronted by an obviously drunken slob of an old man who then began to chastise my mother for not paying. We were left feeling extremely uncomfortable and disrespected and we're insulted by slurs from the drunk. As a LOCAL, I will never bring myself or anybody I associate with on this island here ever again. This used to be a favorite of the familie's, it's a shame this place has gotten so good awful and run down. It's literally run by drunks that can barely stand or talk. If you want beer and a view, this is the place for you. Anything...and I mean ANYTHING outside of that, you are out of luck. Ordered salad topped with fried shrimp- got salad (if you want to call iceburg and a Sysco refrigerated tomato a salad ) with RAW grilled shrimp. Ordered fried fish sandwich, did not get hushpuppies or coleslaw that come with the sandwich. Never got mayo or onion rings that we ordered. Drinks were weak and overpriced. Had a little one with us and were surronded by smokers. Manager (?) came by and asked how thing were. We told him the truth. Nice little place to mellow out and have a cold beer. Walked the pier then sat in Captain Andy's tiki bar and swilled some Imperials, watched the dolphins jump and play, great conversation with the wife and helped put the stress away for the day. Our waiter was a Hispanic gentleman that only added to the mellow ambience with his hard work, hustle, and sense of humor. Didn't catch any fish but the guy behind the counter is very knowledgeable and willing to help you and even help save you money of possible. He suggested he try a weight on out weaker pole (within limits) instead of resting a pole from him. The views from the pier are Incredible, I feel like even thought I paid $10 for the fishing license I didn't even use and could have just purchased a $1.50 sightseeing ticket, it was totally worth it. read more

Do not pay for parking here. There is a public beach entrance a block down the road. Hopefully this review can save you 10 bucks. This pier is old. It takes 2 dollars to go on the boardwalk. The video games in there are super old. Most of them don't even work. There is a pool table, but it is usually occupied. Would recommend you go down to Jeanette's pier instead. read more

I have been to many piers. This was lovely. Very easy access, nice seating, and very maintained. We walked to the very end and they had running water and little sinks to wash your hands and beer is sold at 7 am. They even sold breakfast here. We are catching fish left and right. I'm almost afraid to recommend this place because it will become too busy. This is one of my favorite places to eat @ OBX! It's not fancy, but I'll take being able to look at the ocean from every seat anytime. The food is delicious. So far we've had steamed shrimp, salad with grilled shrimp, pasta marinara w/ scallops, & the hush puppies. Everything was reasonably priced and very good. Great for families. Recently I dined for breakfast at the pier. The establishment was definitely past the occupation limit and very outdated. It's a lovely view, however, we waited a solid 10 minutes to even have a drink order taken. It took an additional 5 to get the drinks. I observed wait staff carrying drinks with their fingers in the glasses, an awkward on going argument between a particular waitress and the hostess, and this waitress whining over literally every aspect of her job in front of guests. The food was mediocre at best, and took another 20 minutes to make it to our table.. but at least my mixed drink was ok. Beware of this place, take your business elsewhere. read more
